On Saturday, the BZ Berner Zeitung, the TT Thuner Tagblatt and the BO Berner Oberländer published the first of eleven double-page spreads from the project "BZ, TT and BO in the school" project.

The project offers young people from senior classes the opportunity to give adults an understanding of life from their perspective on a double-page spread, as Espace Media writes in a press release on Monday. Since the beginning of May, the high school classes have been accompanied by BZ editors. After a visit to the editorial office, the pupils began their tasks as "young journalists". The classes were allowed to choose their own topics in collaboration with the editorial team. The aim was to find as many exciting topics as possible. Their reports on youth culture, rural life, a school theater, drugs and alcohol, learning and cheating, career aspirations and career choices and the power of youth today resulted in 11 exciting stories. The pupils want to captivate the newspaper readers with these stories.

Two double pages per week

The double-page spreads will appear on Wednesdays and Saturdays over the next few weeks, with the last article being published in the BZ erner Zeitung, the TT Thuner Tagblatt and the BO Berner Oberländer on Saturday, July 7, 2012, just in time for the start of the summer holidays. Job cuts also at Swiss Post headquarters

Swiss Post CEO Jürg Bucher has announced new cost-cutting measures. Following the announcement of 250 job cuts at Post Logistics, cost-cutting measures are now also necessary at Swiss Post headquarters.

This year, 30 million francs would have to be saved. This is what Swiss Post CEO Jürg Bucher told the newspaper Der Sonntag. Next year, Bucher wants to save another 50 million francs in administration. This will affect functions such as finance, human resources, legal and communications, Bucher told the newspaper. "Swiss Post must keep costs under control if it wants to be successful in the next few years," he said, adding, "It won't be possible without job cuts." Still, the job cuts should be doable without layoffs, however, because the program is being stretched out over a longer period of time and there is some staff turnover, he said.

In addition, the conversion of loss-making post offices into postal agencies will continue. Bucher justified his cost-cutting program, among other things, with the decline in letter mail. The decline in addressed letter mail was 2.5 percent.
