S&W Advertising Agency: "Here's to beer!"

The Müller Brewery in Baden is one of the last independent breweries in Switzerland, and it’s proud of that. This sense of identity has led to various words being replaced with “beer” in the headlines of the new campaign.

Amazingly, the proofreader overlooked these errors in headlines such as "Toast to bier!", "To me or to bier?" or "You like bier!", the agency said with a wink in a statement.

The total of twelve subjects can initially be seen on beer plates, placemats and posters. The campaign can be extended at will and is used for all products and their promotions. For example, for the Müllerbräu appearance at the Baden city festival. Striking and innovative is also the matching Facebook link to the "Like beer!" campaign.

Study: Youtube holds its own as a news medium

YouTube is increasingly being used as a source for traditional news reporting, according to a study by the Pew Research Center for Excellence in Journalism. Videos posted by private individuals are appearing more and more frequently in news coverage by media outlets.

After last year's tsunami in Japan, which killed more than 18,000 people and caused damage of around 150 billion euros, a strikingly large number of people searched for information on YouTube. In the seven days after the disaster, the 20 most clicked news videos all had to do with the tsunami and were viewed more than 96 million times.

The researchers examined the most popular videos in the YouTube "news" category, analyzing content, topics and popularity. In the process, they found that a symbiotic relationship has developed between people and news organizations. Youtube users post their own videos online while sharing content from professional media outlets. Media outlets, in turn, use the videos of private individuals and incorporate them into their reporting.

No ethical standards defined

The disaster in Japan is no exception: Youtube is becoming increasingly important in global news coverage. The study concludes that, on average, a news topic tops the ranking list every third month. Other popular events were the elections in Russia, the popular uprisings in the Middle East, and the "Costa Concordia" cruise ship accident.

According to the study, problems can arise with this exchange because no ethical standards have been defined to date. Youtube does offer guidelines, but it is clear that they are not always followed and certain content is not considered. (Source: Press release)

Futurecom: iPad app to combat hearing loss

Zurich-based agency Futurecom has developed a self-screening iPad app for hearing aid manufacturer Sonova that allows self-diagnosis of hearing damage.

According to a press release, the app will enable simple self-diagnosis to detect gradual hearing loss. The Self Screening Stations will initially be set up in busy shopping malls in the U.S., Canada and Australia. Visitors are asked to complete the test, which takes just a few minutes, and find out whether it would be advisable for them to use a hearing aid. If users provide their personal data at the end, they subsequently receive a detailed evaluation by e-mail or post.

The tool enables Sonova to generate leads outside the usual channels and to establish contact with potential buyers of hearing aids at an early stage, it continues. Since the leads are collected in a central backend, Sonova has the possibility to precisely measure the use after the campaign.

Responsible at Sonova: Renato DiRubbo (Retail Marketing Director), Sonja Koch (Retail Marketing Manager). Responsible at Futurecom: Sandro Kümin (Art Director), Vincent Schaublin (Screen Design) Marcel Berberich (Programming), Jürgen Vanicek (Consulting), Carlo Schenker (Consulting).

Raiffeisen Super League: Max Havelaar balls

Soccer balls were produced for Raiffeisen promotions related to the Super League. Adcom Motion sources the balls under the «Fairtrade Max Havelaar» seal of approval.

Around 75% of the sports balls used worldwide come from Pakistan, the largest sports ball manufacturer and exporter in the world. The production of sports balls in Pakistan is repeatedly criticized due to the difficult working conditions. Thanks to Adcom Motion, the footballs produced for Raiffeisen bear the Fairtrade Max Havelaar seal of approval, which is monitored and certified by an independent body.

Adcom Motion in Baar is the first promotional material agency in Switzerland to be licensed for the production of Fairtrade articles.

Nemuk: Homepage for Swiss Olympic

Nemuk designed the homepage for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London on behalf of Swiss Olympic. The goal is to provide visitors with quick access to all relevant news about the Swiss delegation—including through social media.

The page has been online since July 4, 2012, and will remain so until after the Olympic Games in London. The large and emotional image worlds are intended to reflect the dynamics of the sport, according to a statement. The focus will be on Facebook photo albums and videos from the YouTube channel. During programming, care was taken to ensure that the site is optimally displayed on all devices.

The heart of the site is the social stream, which was designed and developed specifically for this site. There, the visitor receives all social media news of Swiss athletes as a so-called "activity feed". The information can be filtered by channel (blog, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube), by sport (via dropdown) or by favorite athlete (manual search). The posts are pulled directly from the athletes' respective accounts and are linked to them.

The social stream is also available on the Facebook fan page by Swiss Olympic as an app. In this way, sports enthusiasts receive insights and reports about experiences and sensitivities directly from the athletes. In the backend, 54 Swiss athletes with a total of 73 social media accounts are already registered and new accounts are constantly being added.

Last but not least: SF stands by Axpo

The Super League has a new main sponsor. Swiss television is still struggling to come to terms with this fact.

In the Saturday broadcast of Sportpanorama, the results overview and table continued to be titled "Axpo Super League", as 20min.ch was noticed. This is probably not how the new main sponsor Raiffeisen imagined the debut of its football commitment.

But many football fans don't care whether the league is called the Axpo, Raiffeisen or Burger King Super League anyway - they consistently stick to the traditional National League ("Nati") A. Not so Swiss television: In order to do justice to the globalized naming concept of the Swiss Super League, information on cards and goals is now shown in English during live broadcasts. Millions of football fans from all over the world breathe a sigh of relief. Good things come to those who wait.
