Primcom expands destination portfolio with Engadin, Lenk-Simmental and Silvaplana

Primcom, a PR agency originally focused on outbound tourism, is securing new clients in Switzerland as a vacation destination. Following Engelberg/Titlis, Pontresina, and Valposchiavo, Engadin, Lenk-Simmental, and Silvaplana are now joining the Zurich-based agency’s portfolio of destinations.

The Primcom team is delighted with the new orders from Engadin St. Moritz Tourism (for the Engadin brand), Lenk-Simmental Tourism and the municipality of Silvaplana. The Engadin in particular is one of the largest and most important Swiss vacation destinations in terms of publicity and marketing. "The partnership with Pontresina, which has been successful for around three years, has certainly helped to make us better known to tourism managers throughout the Engadin," says owner and managing director Vanessa Bay. Primcom also had a good application letter for Lenk-Simmental Tourismus in the Bernese Oberland with the existing mandate for the local flagship hotel Lenkerhof. The focus of the new mandates is on media relations.

Primcom sees the expansion of the destination portfolio as a commitment. "We want to actively promote Swiss Alpine tourism and make it attractive to as wide an audience as possible, both at home and abroad, with all its benefits," said Bay in a press release.

Norway to abolish radio and television license fees

The Norwegian government plans to abolish radio and television license fees and fund public broadcasting (NRK) with tax revenue. Culture Minister Trine Skei Grande announced this on Friday.

nrk

"News media have a value as democratic opinion makers, as a control body for the powerful and as a steward of language, culture and common identity," said Grande. It is important that NRK remains a strong public broadcaster without advertising.

People who live alone are the main beneficiaries of the new tax model. Until now, Norwegians have paid the equivalent of more than 330 francs per household in radio and television fees every year.

The future tax will amount to around 1700 Norwegian kroner (190 francs) per person. For a family with two adults, this is roughly the same amount. The tax is graduated according to income and must be paid from the age of 18. According to the government's plans, the broadcasting fee will be abolished by January 1, 2020. (SDA)

Rosarot develops sustainable design for Naturesse

Naturesse manufactures disposable products from rapidly renewable raw materials—such as plates, containers, cups, and cutlery made from palm leaves, bamboo, sugarcane, and many other natural materials. Rosarot is the designer behind the brand, which is owned by Pacovis.

The Zurich advertising and design agency created a new visual identity and claim. The BtoB communication was continued in a POS campaign to end consumers.

With a comprehensive range of well over 500 permanently available products and many customized solutions, Naturesse is ready for the future. A future in which alternatives to petroleum and conventional plastic, as well as nature's concepts, appear to make sense and are becoming increasingly important. The company has recognized the potential that lies in palm leaves, bamboo or sugar cane, among others. These rapidly renewable raw materials form the basis for natural products that live up to Rosarot's newly developed claim "Nature at its best." The corporate identity was also redesigned by the Zurich agency Rosarot to be more modern and to convey the brand's progressive philosophy.

In addition, the imagery has been given a contemporary makeover, which is intended to give the entire visual appearance a higher-quality and more emotional feel. The product and image brochure has already been completely redeveloped in terms of language and appearance.

Flyers and POS posters also appear as sales support for takeaway restaurants in the new look for fresh communication to end customers.

Commission of the Council of States holds hearings on copyright law

The European Parliament’s approval of the controversial copyright reform raises questions—including with regard to the revision of copyright law in Switzerland. The relevant Council of States committee has held hearings but has not yet reached any decisions.

staenderat

The Commission for Science, Education and Culture (WBK) announced on Friday that it had obtained information from the Institute for Intellectual Property about the scope for action. It then held hearings.

Participants included the professional association Impressum, the Swiss Media Association, Google Switzerland and the Alliance for Fair Copyright. The discussion is to be continued at the next meeting at the end of April.

Back to the Commission

The hearing focused on the obligation to pay remuneration for making journalistic content accessible and the ancillary copyright for press publishers. The Federal Council's draft bill, which was based on the compromise of a working group with interest groups, did not include these regulations. It was the Commission that included provisions on this.

However, the Council of States decided in the spring session to refer the bill back to them. The WBK is to review its decisions and take current legal developments in the EU into account.

Protection for journalistic content

Under the Commission's proposal, operators of internet platforms would in future owe publishers a fee when they make journalistic works accessible. This primarily concerns text outlines and references to articles that are displayed to internet users in services such as Google News.

In this way, the internet platforms can obtain data for advertising marketing or place advertising on the text snippets and earn money - money that they lose from the publisher's point of view. This is because users may be satisfied with the text snippet in the social network and not click on the link that would take them to the media portal.

In the Council of States, the majority felt that the Commission's proposal was not yet fully developed. Critics also pointed out that the revision now deviated considerably from the compromise of the Agur12 working group. (SDA)

Gazenergie: Heimat Zürich is responsible for the new appearance of the Swiss gas industry

The Swiss gas industry is introducing the Gazenergie brand. This brand brings together all existing and future gas-related products, technologies, network infrastructures, services, and applications under a single name and with a unified brand identity.

VSG_presskit7

The new brand strategy and name change are part of the industry's strategy for the future. The aim is to position gas as an energy source in view of the new requirements in energy supply. The energy supply of the future is characterized by an increasing use of renewable energies, decentralized production, convergence of networks and digitalization. Gas and its infrastructure play a central role in this, for example in improving energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions.

The new brand strategy with comprehensive rebranding does justice to this fact and positions gas and its infrastructure as a key element in the transformation of our energy systems. The iconic green leaf remains and shines in new freshness. The campaign "The energy future begins in everyday life" is designed to encourage debate and knowledge building. This is expressed by the new campaign claim "The more you know about it, the more it makes sense." The Gazenergie.ch website serves as a campaign hub and provides more in-depth information and opportunities for gas.

The Association of the Swiss Gas Industry (VSG) is responsible for brand management of the Gazenergie brand. Around 90 Swiss gas supply companies belong to the association. Heimat Zürich won the mandate for the development and implementation of the new communicative appearance at the beginning of 2018. As part of the rebranding, a completely new corporate design was developed. The new brand presence takes place on numerous touchpoints: From vehicles, gas station signage, gas storage tanks, infographics, explanatory films to sponsorship engagements, the gazenergie brand is present throughout Switzerland. The new brand campaign was launched on March 25 on TV, online, in print and via the VSG's own channels as well as those of the association's members.

"The repositioning, the campaign and the entire appearance are the result of a long process in which the association members were involved from the very beginning. We are delighted with the forward-looking appearance of gazenergie, which opens a new chapter for the Swiss gas industry," says Petra Thomann, Brand & Marketing Communications.
