GVZ_Pavillon4

"We think along" is intended to give the population an understanding of the GVZ's triangular mission - loss prevention, loss limitation, loss adjustment - and to show that the GVZ is more than just a compulsory building insurance company.

In addition to the information pavilion, the centerpiece of the campaign, Geyst designed and implemented an associated Websitea GVZ image film and all pavilion texts. In addition, the agency is responsible for the customer brochure, media release, publicity reportage and more.

The pavilion is an experiential platform with a wealth of information on fire safety, firefighting and insurance.

SRG Bern Fribourg Valais speaks of painful decision

The Bern-Fribourg-Valais Radio and Television Cooperative regrets that 70 news journalists from Radio Studio Bern must relocate to Zurich. This was a painful decision.

srg-ssr

The board of the regional sponsoring cooperative is observing the increasing concentration of German-speaking Swiss media in the greater Zurich area with concern, as it wrote in a statement on Tuesday. The merging of radio, TV and online would lead to the loss of "internal pluralism within the SRG". This, in turn, is likely to result in a reduction in the diversity of topics and perspectives.

According to SRG Bern Fribourg Valais, the retention of the high-quality magazine shows "Rendez-vous" and "Echo der Zeit" gives hope that "other voices and topics will continue to be heard in the great SRF concert".

The sponsoring organization intends to work "vigorously" to ensure that the editorial offices remaining in Berne are provided with the necessary financial resources to master the media upheaval and remain viable for the future.

The company's management would have to make a long-term commitment to Bern as an independent audio production site and disclose the funds saved by the move.

The regional SRG Bern Fribourg Valais cooperative forms the bridge between programmers and the public. According to its own information, it represents the media and programming interests of the region in the SRG media.

"A tragedy"

The Swiss Capital Region organization and the city and canton of Bern are also disappointed with the relocation decision. They criticize that part of the journalistic diversity within the public media house will be lost and the background formats remaining in Bern will be weakened.

Thanks to intensive educational work, however, it was possible to prevent an even greater reduction in journalistic competence in Bern.

The Pro Idée Suisse association sharply criticized the decision in a statement and called it a tragedy. At least half of the Bern radio studio would be emptied by 2021 at the latest, and the radio journalists would now be "located in the TV factory, closer to "Glanz und Gloria".

Earlier, the editors-in-chief had already let the staff know that further digital developments would in future be carried out exclusively in Zurich. "This means the death of the Bern radio studio in installments," criticizes Pro Idée Suisse. What is threatening is a "media-politically untenable one-size-fits-all from Zurich's Leutschenbach.

The Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals SSM also noted with regret the decision of the SRF management on Tuesday, as it writes in a statement. The decision was a "loss for journalism in the capital - and especially for the radio studio in Bern.

The fear remains that background radio broadcasts will be cut off from digital development and phased out, he said. (SDA)

Notch Interactive becomes part of the Publicis Group, Peter van der Touw new COO

Notch Interactive will join the Publicis Group effective January 1. Peter van der Touw will take over as Chief Operating Officer of Publicis Communications, assuming operational leadership, and will also work to further integrate the communications, media, and technology divisions. CEO Thomas Wildberger will assume strategic leadership of the group and will once again focus more heavily on creative matters.

notch-publicis

The Publicis Group is growing in one fell swoop by 23 digital cracks. In addition to Notch co-founder Peter van der Touw, who is taking over the newly created position of COO at Publicis Communications, 20 additional employees are following the call of CEO Thomas Wildberger. Among them are Roger Oberholzer, who will become Head of Strategy, and Martin Stauch, who will expand the Publicis creative department as UX Director together with his six-person UI/UX team.

For years, Notch Interactive has been one of Switzerland's leading digital agencies for digital strategies and consulting, performance campaigning, content, social media and platforms, apps, and UI/UX design, and has regularly won awards such as the BOSW, SDV, and Swiss Effie, among others. "Our digital expertise will thus also benefit Publicis clients in the future. In return, previous Notch clients can benefit from the most creative agencies in Switzerland. But I'm not only looking forward to my new colleagues at Publicis Communications, but also to the specialists from Publicis Sapient and Publicis Media, whose expertise in digital business transformation and data-driven marketing will give us all an additional boost," says new Publicis COO Peter van der Touw.

Another weighty reason for this step for Notch is the opportunity to become part of "Power of One". The agency network consists of management consulting, communications, design, media and technology. "Only at Publicis is there this overall understanding of seamless, holistic solutions. Here, more than 300 experts work under one roof, who are able not only to create advertising, but also to orchestrate the five most important business areas of strategy, product, service, communication and transaction," says Thomas Wildberger, who, in addition to the strategic management of the entire Publicis Group, will once again increasingly take care of the creative output.

Smartive develops modular community solution for Migros

After five years, Migros is replacing the existing Migipedia.ch community solution and is relying 100 percent on software made in Switzerland. The Zurich-based company Smartive developed a fully modular solution for this purpose, with design support from Liip.

Migipedia

Rate a product on Migipedia.ch, ask or answer a question about a recipe on Migusto.ch, participate in a product test on a brand page, or vote on future products in the Migros app - the Migros community is no longer tied to just one platform. The newly developed, modular community solution enables Migros to focus even more closely on the user journeys of its customers. The aim is to offer users community and involvement opportunities wherever the relevant customer interest exists, without being tied to just one platform. The existing and widely used single sign-on Migros login ensures the identity of users across Migros websites, and all activities can be viewed in the community profile at any time, regardless of the platform.

Migros relies on Reactions for its new community solution. Reactions is a modular community solution developed by smartive. Whether it's recipe ratings, questions about products, or idea submissions: Reactions makes it possible to operate a community, regardless of the platform.

Reactions relies on modern techniques such as Node.js, GraphQL, RabbitMQ and React. With the use of Reactions, Migros' community became not only more flexible, but also eight times faster, and it is significantly cheaper to run.

The design and user experience revision was provided by the digital agency Liip. The agency with five locations in Switzerland accompanies Migipedia.ch with their expertise since the launch in 2010. The focus was clearly on mobile first - because almost 70 percent of users use Migros' community solutions with a cell phone.

Small and micro enterprises are also worthy of awards

SMEs are the backbone of our economy. However, it’s often forgotten that a good 98 percent of SMEs are microenterprises. Although they’re «there,» they rarely take center stage. That has changed since December 7, 2019: For the first time, the Business Expo in Zurich created a platform for the smallest of the SMEs. And on December 7, an Entrepreneur Award was presented for the first time specifically for small businesses.

Some sell fashion accessories in individual design, others advise customers on self-management, style or health, and still others earn money with an online store for selected wines. These are just a few examples of how diverse the business fields of small businesses are. Seen in this light, the 40 or so exhibitors at the Business Expo, which took place on December 7 in Zurich, showed an almost representative picture of the small business "scene." Whereby: To speak of a "scene" is almost a bit of a stretch. The fact is that micro and small entrepreneurs make up the largest share of SMEs (98 percent), yet they have hardly any lobby.

015_BusinessExpo2019_web

Hardly any recognition for small and micro enterprises

Sandra Liliana Schmid also knows this from her own experience. The entrepreneur has already founded several companies and has now been advising mainly the Cs of SMEs as an organizational developer and management consultant since 2013. So she knows the challenges that micro-enterprises face in everyday business life - and also the frustration that can sometimes arise from a lack of recognition. That's why Sandra Liliana Schmid founded the Business Expo, in order to better connect entrepreneurs and position them more strongly in the market. Within six months, she organized the event, searched for and found sponsors, and also created an Entrepreneur Award.

Product presentation and knowledge transfer in one

"The event and the award should bring together female entrepreneurs, male entrepreneurs and a broad audience", Sandra Liliana Schmid explains her objective. The event concept was implemented accordingly: on the one hand, visitors to the Business Expo were able to see for themselves what a wide range of small businesses had to offer. On the other hand, concrete and practical information presented by experts was available in workshops: How do I do marketing via Whatsapp? How do I create a corporate film using a smartphone? How do I organize my finances in a low-interest environment? And in two speed networking sessions there was the opportunity to get in touch with like-minded people.

An award by and for small and micro enterprises

Being a small business owner is a full-time job. However, the achievements of micro-enterprises are hardly ever recognized. That's why Sandra Liliana Schmid launched the Entrepreneur Award. "The award is intended to give these entrepreneurs fame, honor and recognition for their great achievements and tireless work," says Schmid. And it should be an award by companies for companies: All entrepreneurs who run a company with up to 49 employees could be nominated. All nominees had until November 15 to collect votes from the community. A total of 7,473 people took part in the online voting, resulting in the first top 10 list. The independent, four-member jury also analyzed the nominated companies and in turn created a top 10 list. These lists were merged, resulting in the final Top 10 list. On December 7, visitors, together with the jury, were able to choose the Entrepreneur of the Year from the 10 finalists.

Entrepreneur Award for fashion label with social claim

The first winner was Michèle Buschor-Frei with her company Caramba Beneficial GmbH. Her business idea: She sells high-quality knitwear made by women in the highlands of Peru under the CARAMBA label. The proceeds from the sales in Switzerland allow these "Mamitas" a way out of poverty and a secure income. Michèle Buschor-Frei's company, which has been on the market for ten years, can thus be cited as a successful example of social entrepreneurship. Michèle Buschor is correspondingly pleased about the win: "For me it is great to have won the prize. It is by no means a matter of course that our brand is so professional today. The prize also belongs to all the people who have supported me and continue to do so."

There will be a Business Expo again in 2020

Sandra Liliana Schmid draws a positive balance overall. "I've already received initial commitments from exhibitors who want to participate again next year," she says. She is now looking for additional partners who want to support her Business Expo idea. The event is expected to take place again in the first week of December 2020.

Livesystems' new CEO, Dragan Dojcinovic, has appointed two industry experts to the executive team. Effective December 1, 2019, Nicola Molinara was named CCO and Claudio Marty was named COO.

Foto_Neue-GL-der-Livesystems-AG

Nicola Molinara, 33, is taking on the role of Chief Client Officer CCO. Molinara has been with Livesystems virtually since the beginning. As the very first sales employee at Livesystems, he has been contributing to the company's success for nine years. As Regional Sales Director, he built up the external locations in Basel, Lucerne and Aarau. Later, as Chief Strategy Officer and creative head of the company, he provided new strategic impulses.

"Nicola knows virtually all of our long-standing customers personally," says CEO Dragan Dojcinovic, "his experience makes him the ideal person to further expand and professionalize our strategic customer relationships - in other words, the perfect appointment for GL."

The new Chief Operation Officer in the management team of the Livesystems sales organization is Claudio Marty, 32. In his previous role as Head of Business Development, he focused on expanding the product range in the online and DOOH areas.

As COO, Marty continues to lead the strategic transformation and provides accountability for the Commercial Publishing, Internal Operations and Product Management divisions. "I am proud of my new role and look forward to further developing the sales division in operations," he says.

Consolidation phase completed, focus on the future

After two years of launching the online news portal Nau.ch, the founders are withdrawing from the operational management of the other two AGs of Livesystems Holding. They hand over the management into the hands of mostly long-time proven employees.

To this end, the digital-out-of-home organization Livesystems DOOH has already recently been staffed with a fresh management team.

Foundry and Swiss whet Londoners' appetite for Swiss mountains

At the Ski & Snowboard Festival held in London from October 25–27, 2019, Foundry and Swiss set up two flight simulators featuring Birdly technology. More than 16,000 visitors were able to experience the combination of virtual reality, 3D audio, robotics, and simulation technology.

swiss_foundry_birdly_03

Because Londoners are usually used to flatlands, the airline and the agency wanted to bring the Swiss mountains to the British metropolis to whet the appetite for winter (sports) travel.

With their arms stretched wide, Londoners had the opportunity to fly like a bird through the Swiss Alpine landscape. Some saw a helicopter, others a hot air balloon and still others a Swiss Airbus A320 fly by.

Giveaways and a raffle were also available: Swiss chocolate, winter hats, key chains and 25-pound vouchers for the next trip to Switzerland or one of the more than 100 other destinations worldwide.

"The festival was a complete success for Swiss. With this unique appearance, we not only underlined the attractiveness of Switzerland as a winter sports destination, we were able to position ourselves as the perfect partner to escape the English winter," says Ellena Brandstätter, Marketing Communication Campaigns Swiss.

SRF radio presenter Nicoletta Cimmino is Journalist of the Year 2019

SRF radio host Nicoletta Cimmino was voted Journalist of the Year 2019 in an online poll. Cimmino, who hosts the program «Echo der Zeit,» received 31.2 percent of the total votes.

Treffpunkt-Bundesplatz-2011-5-0-screenshot

For her work, the 45-year-old native of Biel received the attributes "serious, unagitated, critical, reflective and authentic," as the industry magazine Swiss journalist announced on Tuesday. Cimmino has worked for Swiss Radio since 2004.

The journalists voted Maurice Thiriet from the online portal Watson. Thiriet received around a third of the votes. Around 800 people took part in the online survey.

93 percent of Swiss use the Internet - seniors slowly catching up

93% of the Swiss resident population use the internet. In the age group between 15 and 55, the figure is almost 100%. Senior citizens are pushing down the average, but they are catching up - at least the men.

kind-grossmutter-laptop-internet-mediennutzung

95% of 15 to 55-year-olds go online every day, according to new figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). In 2014, the overall average was only 84%, in 2017 it was 90%. The proportion is highest among students: 98% of people with a tertiary degree use the internet, while only 80% of those who have only completed compulsory schooling do so.

The highest age group is catching up the most: 88% of 65- to 74-year-olds now use the internet, which is 11 percentage points more than in 2017. The over-75s have even increased by 13 percentage points and are now 58% online. According to the FSO, there is only a difference between the sexes in the highest age group: At over 60, 85 percent of men surf, but only 73 percent of women.

Strong digitalization in the world of work

Although the generational differences in terms of internet use are narrowing, older people are lagging behind when it comes to digital skills: While three quarters of 15 to 24-year-olds have advanced digital skills, only a third of 55 to 64-year-olds and just under a sixth of over 65-year-olds do.

This could also be related to the lack of participation of pensioners in working life. After all, the world of work appears to be one of the most important sources of digital skills. According to the FSO, almost a quarter of those in employment have the impression that their work has changed in the last twelve months because a digital tool was introduced that they had to learn how to use.

29 percent think they need more and more time to acquire new skills. However, this is not perceived as negative: Almost one in four employees believe that digital tools have made it easier to work with colleagues or business partners.

Social networks are stagnating

The most important area of Internet use in private life is communication. 87% of the population sends and receives e-mails, 3% more than two years ago. 80 percent use instant messaging.

77 percent search for goods and services, 73 percent look for news, 68 percent use e-banking, 64 percent watch films and videos, 55 percent consume or download music - all with an increase of three to eight percent since 2017.

Only video conferencing has increased significantly with 24 percentage points and self-created content or blog uploads with 11 percentage points. There are only two areas where usage has stagnated: social networks, which are used by 49% as they were two years ago, and job searches and online applications, which have fallen by one percentage point to 24% (which could be related to falling unemployment).

Only 7 percent do not surf on the move

Mobile surfing, on the other hand, has increased significantly: Eight out of ten people use a cell phone to connect to the internet outside of their home or place of work. Only 7% of the population state that they do not use a mobile device. In 2017, this figure was still 25 percent.

Duration is also increasing: two thirds of the adult population spend more than five hours a week online. The youngest and best-educated people are online the most, but according to the FSO, usage time is increasing significantly in all age groups. (SDA)

SRG Bern Fribourg Valais: Relocation of editorial offices to Zurich confirmed

In the future, Radio SRF will produce and broadcast current news from Zurich and background and analysis from Bern. 70 employees from the newsroom and SRF 4 News will move from Bern to Zurich, while 230 SRG employees will remain in Bern.

srf-gebäude-leutschenbach

In the future, Radio SRF will produce and broadcast current news from Zurich and background and analysis from Bern. 70 employees from the newsroom and SRF 4 News will move from Bern to Zurich, while 230 SRG employees will remain in Bern.

The management of SRF radio and television made the final decision on Tuesday as part of the new audio strategy, the company announced. In Zurich, the newsroom will take care of the daily news content for the formats in the linear program and for the digital offerings. In Bern, a competence center for background, in-depth and analysis will be established.

The domestic and international editorial teams will remain in the Berne radio studio, along with magazine and background programs such as "Echo der Zeit," "Rendez-vous" and "Info3. The space in Bern freed up by the partial move will be taken over by SWI Swissinfo.ch, SRG's international foreign service, which employs around 100 people. This means that almost 150 SRF radio employees will remain in Bern.

On the one hand, the partial move is due to the new audio strategy, which establishes the Leutschenbach site with the "Radio Hall" as the sole and central development and production location for SRF's digital audio offerings. On the other hand, this reorganization also has financial reasons, according to the statement.

Digital Center Leutschenbach

With the relocation of the 24-hour news channel SRF 4 News and the newsroom, SRF is bundling its current affairs reporting in the newsroom on the Leutschenbach campus and securing the digital transformation in the audio sector. The station could thus further develop into an actual newsroom radio within the newsroom.

Overall, SRF's strategy is aimed at sharpening the profiles of all SRF radio stations and expanding the production of original podcasts, according to the statement. The latter are particularly popular with young people.

Radio SRF's relocation plans had caused quite a stir in the political arena. The city and canton of Bern, for example, intervened and criticized the weakening of the Bern location.

Regret and criticism

The Radio and Television Cooperative Bern Fribourg Valais regretted the "painful" decision in a statement on Tuesday. The board of the regional carrier cooperative observes the increasing concentration of the German-speaking Swiss media in the greater Zurich area with concern.

The Swiss Capital Region organization and the city and canton of Bern are also disappointed with the relocation decision. They criticize that part of the journalistic diversity within the public media house will be lost and the background formats remaining in Bern will be weakened.

The decision is a "loss for journalism in the capital - and in particular for the Bern radio studio," the Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals (SSM) also announced. The fear remains that radio background broadcasts will be cut off from digital development and gradually phased out.

The Pro Idée Suisse association spoke of a "tragedy" and of "a death in installments" of the Bern radio studio. What was threatening was a "media-politically untenable uniform mash from Zurich's Leutschenbach.

More on the subject: SRG Bern Fribourg Valais speaks of painful decision

Federal government does not want to interfere with locations

At the national level, parliament largely stayed out of the debate. The Council of States scuttled two parliamentary initiatives that had demanded that radio information broadcasts be produced primarily in Bern and Lausanne, as the National Council had first decided.

Already at the beginning of October, the relocation of the news broadcasts of the French-speaking Swiss television RTS from Geneva to Lausanne was communicated as definite by the SRG. The move is scheduled to take place in 2024. The news of the Westschweizer Radio is already produced in Lausanne. (SDA)
