The ADC Gala is postponed again, to September 5, 2020

ADC Switzerland President Frank Bodin introduced his member orientation by saying, "When the economy has the sniffles, the advertising industry usually struggles. And now it's not a cold, it's Corona."

ADC-Switzerland_Geschlossen-und-trotzdem-offen

In the meantime, the ADC board and management have come to the conclusion that holding the gala postponed to May 16 is too risky in view of the situation and forecasts. The ADC Gala will therefore be postponed again, to Saturday, September 5. The tickets remain valid.

The ADC office in the home office

The ADC office is closed since Monday March 16 until further notice and no events will take place. Gioia Bozzato and Hanna Jackl are working from home; the office can also be reached in the home office by mail, phone and video conference.

The judging and the deadline for submissions postponed

ADC Switzerland will inform about when and how the judging will take place at a later date. This also applies to the planned Creative Week. A small drop of bitterness for those who missed the submission due to stress: The submission deadline is extended to April 19, 2020 - any physical proofs can be sent to the office after returning from the home office; the works must have been published in 2019 or in January or February 2020.

The ADC Young Creatives Award ceremony is cancelled

The Young Creatives Award ceremony unfortunately falls victim to the Corona Virus. The results will be communicated to the participants and the public in the course of the next week. A small consolation for the winners: They will be honored afterwards at the ADC Gala.

Closed and yet open

A closed ADC office does not mean that ADC Switzerland is at rest. "On the contrary," emphasizes Frank Bodin, "public life is at a standstill. What is not at a standstill are the creative possibilities to counter this crisis. Despite home offices and virtual communication, we want and need to remain agile and networked. It is precisely in times like these that we can show what Creative Leadership means - ideas and initiatives are welcome."

The SwissMediaForum is also postponed

Due to the current developments surrounding the coronavirus, the SwissMediaForum, scheduled for May 7 and 8 at the KKL Lucerne, has been postponed, likely until fall 2020.

The SwissMediaForum planned for May cannot be held. The "extraordinary situation" declared by the Federal Council on Monday is forcing the organizers to postpone the event, probably until the fall of 2020. The exact date will be announced in due course, according to a statement on Wednesday.

With Skype and Co against annoying habits

The Polish agency Gong addresses communication tools developers like Google, Skype, Zoom, Facebook and Co and asks for a small but important feature in the current crisis.

gong-screenshot-videoconference-face

Like countless other agencies, the Polish agency has now switched to home office, which makes communication tools, and especially video meeting tools, a necessity. These tools could now help us fight an unhygienic and currently even dangerous habit, face-grabbing. Because not only does this lead to annoyances like blemished and itchy skin, but it also increases the risk of infection with the flu or, currently, the coronavirus. And as many videos circulating on the Internet prove: We touch our faces much more often than we think!

With a small update, the video functions of the communication tools could counteract these annoying habits by displaying warnings as soon as a person touches their face. This should at least curb the risk of infection during work. A good and sensible input that could also be useful beyond the Corona crisis.

Private radio stations ask Federal Council for 12 million in emergency aid

Swiss private radio stations are sounding the alarm over the coronavirus crisis. With advertising contracts being canceled at short notice, they face the threat of liquidity shortages and lost revenue. They are therefore asking the Federal Council for an immediate grant of 12 million francs.

mikrophon_radio

The months of March, April and May are commercially very important for Swiss private radio stations, the Swiss Private Radio Association announced on Tuesday. During this period, numerous advertising-relevant events such as car and furniture exhibitions, spring trade fairs, tourist promotions and concerts normally take place.

Traditionally, a lot of radio advertising is booked for these. Due to the numerous cancellations, these advertising funds would now be missing for the private radio stations. These cancellations at short notice would "fundamentally" threaten the existence of private radio stations, according to the statement.

They are therefore asking the Federal Council for an immediate contribution of twelve million francs from the existing fluctuation reserve. This is already allocated to the Federal Office of Communications Bakom. According to the statement, the reserve amounts to 34 million francs for 2020.

Each broadcaster should receive an equal amount with which it can maintain its programs in accordance with the performance mandate. The regional service is of great importance to the population in the current crisis. If the crisis lasts longer, the association reserves the right to make further applications to the federal government. (SDA)

Blueglass sells shares in eStudios

eStudios was founded in January 2017 by Blueglass Interactive as a subsidiary. The startup's leadership team has now decided to pursue a management buyout in order to steer and drive its dynamic growth even more directly.

estudios_blueglass_buyout

The subsidiary of Blueglass Interactive is a provider of services around eSports reporting and consulting. Over the past three years, the eSports Competence Center has become a pioneer in the now booming gaming environment.

In the containers of Frau Gerold's garden in Zurich's West End, the creators of eStudios established a gaming center with 2 by 6 workstations for competitive gaming, commentator stations and a video studio for the production of live streams and video-on-demand broadcasts about the eSports action.

As part of the management buyout, Blueglass Interactive is separating from the subsidiary and placing it in the care of the management team around Tobias Egartner and Hakan Pazarcikli.

"The first 3 years of development of eStudios have brought immense and at the same time successful pioneering work. Now the time has come for us to tackle the next stage of development. I am extremely pleased to accompany the dynamic development in the environment of eSports as an entrepreneur. With our competent and versatile team, we are ideally equipped to satisfy customer needs in various areas of eSports," says eStudios CEO Tobias Egartner.

Blueglass remains faithful to eSports

However, the Zurich-based agency is not turning its back on Swiss eSports with this transaction: In the future, the agency will continue to operate the long-term UPC content marketing project in cooperation with eStudios as production partner eSports.ch.

Online services join forces to combat coronavirus misinformation

The major online platforms have joined forces to efficiently combat misinformation and scams surrounding the coronavirus spread. They also want to bring competent information more to the forefront and disseminate important messages from health authorities, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, Microsoft and LinkedIn announced.

Coronavirus-Falschinformationen

There were initially no details about what the cooperation actually entails. In recent days, false or dubious information about the novel coronavirus had appeared on the platforms in many cases. They already took individual action against it and removed, for example, advertising for alleged cures.

At the same time, online criminals are targeting users with spam emails on coronavirus topics. The IT security company Eset warned that there are currently e-mails in circulation with supposed information about the coronavirus from renowned institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO), which contain a harmful PDF file as an attachment. Opening the file could infect the computer. (SDA)

Online magazine Republic can continue

The online magazine Republik will be able to continue operations, thanks to three female investors who have contributed a total of 300,000 francs over the past few days.

republik

"We definitely met our goals for March. The Republic can continue," the company announced in its latest newsletter on Tuesday. Persoenlich.com had first reported on this.

The investors who have helped the online newspaper to exceed its funding target of 2.2 million francs will be listed on the shareholders' page shortly, the statement added. 2.46 million francs was the exact figure on Tuesday. The Republic is sticking to its ambition of finding 3,000 new publishers, as it likes to call its subscribers, in March.

In December 2019, the online magazine had reported that 2.2 million Swiss francs and 19,000 subscribers would have to be raised by the end of March 2020 for it to continue to exist. If the target had not been met, all employees would have received notice of termination as of March 31.

The Republic-founders had raised around 3.4 million francs in the 2017 crowdfunding campaign, four times as much as hoped for. In total, the project had 7.7 million francs at the start, thanks to contributions from investors. This would secure operations for at least two years, it said at the time. On January 14, 2018, it had launched as an advertising-free magazine with about three articles per day. (SDA)

Wordplay launches Google Analytics alternative

The digital agency Wortspiel has launched «Friendly Analytics,» an alternative to the market leader Google Analytics, which is said to be well-suited for the Swiss market, among others.

friendly-analytics-wortspiel

Due to increasing regulation by laws such as DSGVO or CCPA, many companies are confronted with ensuring data protection when analyzing their websites. Google's market-leading Analytics solution can only be operated in a data protection-compliant manner with a great deal of effort - and even then, shortcomings remain, such as the storage of data in the USA or a lack of transparency due to the software's source codes not being available. For example, the Zurich data protection commissioner prohibits the use of Google Analytics for public bodies.

To solve this problem, Wortspiel agency launches its first product. Friendly Analytics is a privacy-friendly and professional alternative to Google Analytics. and is based on the world's most popular open source analytics solution Matomo (formerly Piwik) - used by NASA, the EU Commission and the United Nations, and recommended by Zurich's data protection authorities. It offers features such as goal measurement including e-commerce tracking, multi-channel attribution, events and a powerful tag manager.

Friendly Analytics completely eliminates the storage of personally identifiable information (PII) and cookies. This makes Friendly Analytics compliant with privacy laws like DSGVO (EU), CCPA (California) and PECR (UK). And the annoying cookie banner is eliminated. Companies don't have to worry about installation or hosting themselves, but can use Friendly Analytics for a subscription price as a software-as-a-service. The data is stored exclusively in Switzerland, and is not passed on or used for advertising purposes. All data can be completely downloaded or deleted at any time. This gives companies 100 percent data ownership.

Valencia for Coop: "Little Fooby" makes cooking child's play

«Little Fooby,» featuring recipes for young chefs, has recently been launched. Valencia Kommunikation helped develop the visual design for this new addition to the Fooby culinary platform for Coop.

1_LITTLE_FOOBY_HEADER

Anyone who helps out in the kitchen from an early age learns a lot for life: Kitchen skills, a connection to nutrition, and a love of food go hand in hand. In Little Fooby, recipes are categorized by difficulty level and colorful illustrations show what kitchen utensils are needed in addition to the ingredients. In the recipes - which are specially designed for cooking together - the steps are highlighted in color, which the kids can take over.

Valencia Kommunikation developed Little Fooby in collaboration with Coop: Among other things, with its own, child-friendly recipe pages and articles in the Fooby spring magazine and the Coop Easter magazine and a coordinated launch campaign with recipe brochure, POS advertising and moving images.

Together with Boutiq Films, three atmospheric spots and short bumper ads were developed for online and offline use. The spots implement the topic of "cooking with children" in a cheerful and humorous way. Short sequences are shown in which parents and children cook together. The perfect result plays only a minor role.

Little Fooby can be discovered in the new Fooby Magazine, on recipe cards at the POS, in the Fooby App and on Littlefooby.ch.

General meeting of the BPRG takes place via video conference

The Bern Public Relations Society BPRG will hold next Wednesday's general meeting online and in an abbreviated version due to the Corona virus.

bprg-coronavirus

For the online meeting, a tool will be available in which members can vote and also ask questions, with which the statutory part of the meeting can be realized. The farewells of the persons resigning from the Presidium and the Board will be made up for at a later date. The next event on April 30, 2020, is still under discussion, for which the CPMR will await the Federal Council's decisions at the beginning of April and then provide further information.

The BPRG views the online solution as an exciting attempt to gain experience in connection with such digital communication solutions that can potentially be used in non-crisis times.
