Comet gives "aues" for EWB Energie Wasser Bern

Everyone knows that EWB Energie Wasser Bern delivers electricity and water to the home. But not what else the company does for Bern. An awareness campaign by Komet is now set to change that.

Energie Wasser Bern

The company operates and maintains the city of Berne's fountains, ensures a cozy home with CO2-neutral district heating, implements the city's ambitious energy goals, promotes e-mobility, and, and, and.

In order to make the people of Bern - and also the younger target group - more aware of this, EWB has commissioned the Bern agency Komet to realize an image campaign. The campaign has a catchy claim in Bernese and tells the ubiquitous services of EWB in charming everyday stories.

For the time being, the campaign can be seen in the form of social video ads, display ads and on YouTube; later, when life in Switzerland will have returned to normal, also on DOOH media.

Hiltl turns live-stream viewers into chefs - Ruf Lanz promotes the offer

Thanks to the live stream from the Hiltl Academy, anyone can cook along with the Hiltl recipes at home. Ruf Lanz is promoting the COVID-19 campaign.

Rolf Hiltl macht Live-Stream-Zuschauer zu Chefköchen – Ruf Lanz bewirbt das Angebot

According to Guinness World Records, Hiltl in Zurich is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. It was founded in 1898 by Ambrosius Hiltl and is now run by Rolf Hiltl in the fourth generation. Due to the coronavirus crisis, all Hiltl restaurants are currently closed. However, the Vegimetzg, Hiltl's grocery store, is open.

In order to be able to share the passion for vegetarian and vegan cuisine with everyone even in these times, the professional chefs from the Hiltl Academy are coming directly into Swiss kitchens every Thursday via live stream - free of charge. The ingredients are communicated in advance so that everyone can cook along live. And eat as well at home as at Hiltl.

Ruf Lanz is also supporting its long-standing customer in this unusual situation: the message "Hiltl makes you a chef" is staged using cauliflower, garlic and mushrooms, which bear a surprising resemblance to a chef's hat.

The three subjects will be played out primarily on Hiltl's social media channels. Hiltl fans can also find all the detailed information on live streaming there.

Westiform manufactures new virus protection discs

Westiform, a company that normally specializes in illuminated advertising, digital signage, and wayfinding signage, is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by temporarily manufacturing protective shields.

Westiform

Special times require special measures and flexibility. The Swiss family-owned company Westiform puts this credo into practice and supports employees of system-maintaining companies - gas stations, banks, supermarkets or the healthcare sector - in social distancing. Westiform now produces virus protection panes made of acrylic glass in two standard sizes as well as custom-made. The aim is to reduce the risk of droplet infection in personal contact with customers and patients.

Westiform

Companies such as Swisscom, Avia and Emil Frey, but also NPOs such as the Swiss Red Cross SRC and the Blood Donor Service, as well as numerous doctors, pharmacies and drugstores, are already using the virus protection, according to the press release. The companies are thus also equipping themselves for coming virus waves: The product can be folded up to save space, so it can easily be stored until the next flu season.

NZZ Media Group applies for short-time work

In light of the economic fallout from the COVID-19 crisis, the NZZ Media Group has also decided to apply for short-time work starting in April. This measure is intended to preserve jobs and ensure that journalistic services can continue to be provided.

NZZ-Mediengruppe

NZZ Media Group is also expecting heavy losses as a result of the Corona crisis, particularly in the advertising market as well as in the events business. Due to the resulting reduction in service offerings and following a thorough review, the company is applying for short-time work as of April in those areas where pandemic-related work absences are currently occurring, according to a statement published on Wednesday.

Protect jobs

"Preserving jobs is essential for us," Felix Graf, CEO of the NZZ Media Group, is quoted as saying. "For each area, department or division, we were able to work out individual solutions in line with the respective situation and needs." Eric Gujer, Editor-in-Chief of the New Zurich Newspaperadds: "This puts us in a position to optimally position ourselves in terms of personnel and to fully deliver on our promise of quality. This means that we will continue to provide our journalistic services in the accustomed quality and thus fulfill our responsibility to the public - albeit with a partially reduced scope in the print area."

High demand

Particularly in view of the crisis, the specific NZZ quality is very much in demand in the user market. This is evident from the growth in NZZ print and digital subscriptions in March, which more than tripled year-on-year. The total number of NZZ print and digital subscriptions grew by 4 percent in March compared to the previous month.

The NZZ Media Group intends to pay the wages of employees on short-time work in full; there will be no loss of pay.

Further measures are implemented

Other cost-cutting measures implemented by the NZZ Media Group as a result of the negative economic consequences of the Corona crisis include a hiring freeze in some cases, a reduction in marketing expenses, a freeze on expenses and, in some cases, a reduction in the number of pages in print editions. Due to the extremely difficult situation in the advertising market, the relaunch of the magazine NZZ Folio postponed until late summer (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Zattoo analysis: How the corona virus is changing TV consumption in Switzerland

The COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing restrictions on public life are leading to an increase in TV viewing. Zattoo users are streaming more and more hours each day. News and informational programs, in particular, are currently being watched more frequently than usual. Regional stations are an important source of information in this regard. More than usual, people are streaming content on the big screen at home. This is according to an analysis of user data from the TV streaming provider Zattoo.

The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has people around the world firmly in its grip. Fear of infection, social distancing, but above all quarantines and curfews - almost everyone is currently spending all their time at home, wanting to keep up to date with the latest developments.

Currently, much more television is watched overall

An analysis of user data at Zattoo for January and March this year has revealed that the Swiss are currently spending more time watching TV. The number of hours streamed monthly via Zattoo was 19 percent higher in March than in the same month of January. Growth is particularly pronounced on the big screen at home, further increasing the proportion of hours streamed on connected TVs. While 38 percent of all hours were watched on smart TVs and streaming devices such as Apple TV in January, this figure had already risen to 41 percent in March. In absolute terms, more Zattoo was also used on mobile devices and the web, even though the share of these device types in the total hours streamed fell.

Zattoo

Average television consumption increases significantly

At the level of individual users, it can be seen that both the average frequency of use and the average monthly duration of use have increased. In relative terms, the usage time of users of the ad-financed Zattoo Free service increased in particular. Here, the average monthly usage time increased by 14 percent from around 19 hours to 22 hours. For Zattoo Premium and Ultimate subscribers, the monthly usage time increased by 9 hours. This corresponds to an increase of 11 percent.

Zattoo

Information programs currently in high demand

In addition to usage time, TV viewing behavior, in terms of content watched, has also changed. The need for up-to-date information and the cancellation of almost all sporting events have led to some shifts in terms of specific genres in TV streaming. In March, 46 percent fewer hours of sports shows were streamed than in January. Even though series are still the most popular among the Swiss with a 25 percent share of all genres, informational shows continue to move up. The number of hours streamed there has increased by more than half, giving information shows a 22 percent share of all genres in March. In January, that figure was 16 percent. The number of users streaming news and info shows on Zattoo in March increased by 22 percent. This means that information shows overtook the movies genre in March, which was still in second place in January.

Zattoo

This increase is also noticeable in the example of the Tagesschau. Compared to January, more than twice as many users switch to the daily news on SRF in March. The number of hours that the Tagesschau is streamed by users has also increased by 150 percent. The Tagesschau that had the most Zattoo users tuning in was the Tagesschau on Monday, March 16, 2020, which reported on the Federal Council's declaration of an extraordinary situation and the declaration of a national state of emergency.

Regional stations as an important source of information

The importance of information about the latest news on the corona virus is also reflected in the rising user figures for regional stations. TeleZüri's ZüriNews, for example, saw viewer growth of 70 percent compared to January. The viewership of TeleBasel News increased by over 200 percent in the period from January to March. TeleBärn News was also seen by 57 percent more users in March than at the beginning of the year. An even greater increase can be observed in the hours streamed. For TeleBasel News, for example, there are over 400 percent more hours than in January. The figure is 77 percent for TeleBärn News and 85 percent for TeleZüri's ZüriNews.

Zattoo

"The demand for information has increased significantly. This benefits not only the Tagesschau on SRF, but also the regional channels that keep people up to date on current developments in the individual regions," says Jörg Meyer, Chief Officer Content and Consumer at Zattoo. "The almost obvious assumption based on the current situation that TV consumption as a whole, and especially the consumption of news broadcasts, will increase significantly is clearly confirmed by the Zattoo usage figures."

Aroma wins pitch for BuildingSMART Standards Summit 2021

In March 2021, representatives from the construction and real estate industries in 21 countries will gather in Switzerland for the first time for the international BuildingSMART Standards Summit. Aroma was able to win over the Bauen Digital Schweiz interest group and prevailed in the pitch process.

Aroma gewinnt Pitch für den BuildingSMART Standards Summit 2021

Over four days at "The Circle Convention Centre", new digital standards will be developed and discussed at the summit, knowledge will be imparted and platforms for exchange will be offered. Within this framework, participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the digitalization of the construction industry.

The pitch for the summit called for creativity and innovation in the design of the day's programs as well as a conceptual approach that offers participants added value from registration to post-event follow-up. The idea presented by Aroma combines real and digital experiences - from knowledge transfer to networking - to create a hybrid congress.

In addition to the creative performance, value was also placed on an agile approach, a high level of cooperation and consistent project organization. "In the end, we were won over by the overall Aroma package," says Paul Curschellas, Member of the Board and member of the Bauen Digital Schweiz Management Committee.

Stuiq wins pitch and becomes lead agency of Mobility

Dream start for Stuiq. The Zurich-based agency with the new look prevails over several competitors and handles Mobility's entire creative budget.

Mobility

Shortly after the relaunch of Stuiq, the Zurich agency wins the creative pitch and takes over brand management, image and product communication of the mobility provider Mobility.

"Stuiq prevailed with its concept against three very strong competitors. The decisive factor was the combination of a convincing strategic derivation, razor-sharp message and outstanding creative approach," says Lars Kläger, Chief Commercial Officer at Mobility.

The campaign launch and repositioning will start in fall 2020.

COVID-19 drives e-commerce growth

Adobe is launching the first real-time barometer of the digital economy. For this index, Adobe analyzes trillions of online transactions involving over 100 million items across 18 product categories. The first Adobe Digital Economy Index shows that the digital economy is growing faster than the overall economy and has never been more important than during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adobe

Over the past six years, digital purchasing power has increased by around one percent. This is shown by the first Adobe Digital Economy Index. This analyzes data from the USA.

The reason for this is obvious: in times of crisis, when most people have to stay at home, consumers and companies are increasingly turning to digital solutions. In view of this unchecked momentum, it is all the more important to closely monitor online prices and spending, understand the trends in the digital economy and predict changes in the various sectors and countries as accurately as possible.

Based on Adobe Analytics and a "digital shopping basket" that measures sales of online goods and services, the Adobe Digital Economy Index shows a 20% increase in digital purchasing power since 2014. Sales in certain categories, including groceries, cold medicines and fitness equipment, have risen sharply as a result of COVID-19. Click & collect online shopping has increased by 62 percent.

Other key findings of the latest Adobe Digital Economy Index include:

Digital is driving the new shopping behavior: Some product categories have taken up a larger share of the digital shopping basket, while others have fallen behind. The "food" product category in particular has increased its share of the shopping basket from 6% to 8% over the past three years. Clothing retailers were early adopters of digitalization and have increased their share of total online transactions from 21% to 23% in the last five years. In contrast, the share of desktop PCs has fallen from 21% to 8% as a result of the mobile boom.

Digital purchasing power continues to increase: Consumers are getting more for the money they spend online. Digital purchasing power has risen by 3% compared to the previous year and has increased by 20% since 2014. This means that today consumers can buy for 1.00 dollar what would have cost 1.20 dollars in 2014. In the same period, a dollar spent on offline purchases of similar goods has lost value. Offline today costs 1.00 dollar, which would have cost only 88 cents in 2014. However, it is to be expected that more and more people will be online, that the offline and online economies will continue to converge and that prices will therefore also converge.

COVID-19 is driving growth in e-commerce: Between January 1, 2020 and March 11, 2020, purchases of several products saw a significant jump in sales: 807 percent for hand sanitizers, gloves, masks and antibacterial sprays; 217 percent for over-the-counter medication purchases (cold, flu and pain relievers); 231 percent for toilet paper; 87 percent for canned goods and shelf-stable items. At the beginning of March, orders for fitness equipment such as kettlebells, dumbbells, spinning bikes and treadmills also increased by 55 percent. The online grocery category saw an overall 100 percent increase in daily online sales between March 13 and 15. Online click & collect purchases increased by 62% between February 24 and March 21 compared to 2019.

Innovation drives down online prices: In the categories with the most product updates per year (electronics, computers, televisions), online prices have fallen and digital purchasing power has increased. Online prices for electronics, for example, have fallen by over 40% in five years. From January 2014 to July 2017, online deflation drove digital purchasing power up by an average of 3.9% per year. It was only when consumers started to buy more non-innovation goods and services - such as food and furniture - that online deflation and digital purchasing power slowed to 2% growth. As almost all product categories and not just innovative goods are purchased online, the price advantage of online shopping will decrease.

New digital shopping cart

The total share of online purchases in the US includes the categories of clothing (23 percent), electronics (16 percent), home and garden (12 percent), computers (8 percent), food (8 percent), home improvement items (5 percent), household appliances (4 percent), personal care products (4 percent), flowers and related gifts (3 percent), office supplies (3 percent), sporting goods (2 percent), books (2 percent), jewelry (2 percent), furniture and bedding (2 percent), pet supplies and products (2 percent) and toys and games (2 percent). The categories "Non-prescription medicines" and "Medical equipment and accessories" each account for 1 percent.

The Adobe Digital Economy Index is based on the analysis of over one trillion website visits and over 100 million articles. Adobe Analytics measures the transactions of 80 of the top 100 US online retailers. Based on this amount of real-time consumer transaction data, the Adobe Digital Economy Index provides much more accurate insights than ratings based purely on surveys. Several government agencies and industry associations, including the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Reserve and the US Census Bureau, have agreed to work with Adobe to gain immediate insight into the digital economy and access to the data.

Axel Springer leaves the stock exchange after 35 years

The media and technology group Axel Springer is delisting from the stock exchange after 35 years. As of April 6, the company's shares will no longer be traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the publisher of *Bild* and *Welt* announced on Wednesday.

Axel Springer

The company expects that this will soon also apply to the Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich and Stuttgart stock exchanges, as well as Tradegate Exchange. "The departure from the stock exchange heralds a new growth phase for us," said Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner.

"As soon as the situation returns to normal after the Corona crisis, we will put all our focus on our ambitious goal," said the Group CEO. Springer is aiming to become the world market leader in digital journalism and online platforms for jobs and real estate ("digital classifieds"), for example.

The largest shareholders at Springer, ahead of the publisher's widow Friede Springer, are U.S. financial investor KKR with around 47.6 percent. With the Americans behind them, the Berliners want to invest in long-term growth and until recently also had their sights set on acquisitions. Because of the Corona crisis, however, Springer has already revised its forecast for 2020. (SDA)
