The Cover Media: Making Of Christmas Card

For years, The Cover Media hasn't been using off-the-shelf Christmas and New Year's cards; instead, it has been literally building its Christmas cards from scratch.

In October, snowy landscapes, romantic chalets and winter scenes are regularly created, photographed and digitally post-processed using suitable equipment. Each November, the cards go to print and, if all goes well, are sent to the recipients on time. The Basel-based radio marketer shows how this year's card was created in a YouTube clip:

Viewster strengthens management team

The video-on-demand platform Viewster is expanding its leadership team: Steve Broadhead, a specialist with international experience, is joining the company as Senior Vice President of EMEA Partnerships.

Broadhead has worked in key positions since the beginning of the online video business, most recently as Director of Publisher Services at Fox Networks. At Viewster, Steve Broadhead will be responsible for sales and business development activities in the EMEA region and will manage Viewster's rapidly growing international media business, according to a press release.

Viewster CEO Kai Henniges says of the new collaboration with Steve Broadhead: "We are seeing an extremely high number of users opting for Viewster every month and turning away from linear television. The online video market is becoming a success factor for the advertising industry, which is finding it increasingly difficult to reach its target groups on traditional television. We are delighted to have gained such an experienced expert for our media business in Steve Broadhead - because we see that more and more brands are relying on personalized, targeted campaigns with online video providers."

Last but not least: on your knees, mes Amis

Soccer players slide around on their knees whenever they feel a surge of joy. In a new campaign for Canal+'s sports programming, the fans are doing the same.

The collaboration between French broadcaster Canal+ and Parisian agency BETC has already borne highly amusing fruit on several occasions. For example, the bear that had to watch so many feature films on the channel in its role as a carpet, that he himself entered the film business as a director.

The latest campaign has football fans jumping for joy at the sports program, as footballers tend to do after scoring a goal. This, in turn, is also likely to generate enthusiasm among some viewers - even if in most cases this is probably expressed somewhat more discreetly. (hae)

Publicis: Mailing realized for Postfinance

A mailing campaign for Postfinance, created by the Publicis agency, is designed to draw the attention of young customers to a special website that offers discounts and other perks.

Postfinance regularly offers young customers discounted music tickets, electronic devices and other items at a friendship price. These so-called extras can be found on Postfinance's special youth site.

The Publicis agency created a mailing for the financial services provider that builds several bridges between offline mailing and the online website: A QR code leads to the mobile website, a personalized code allows access to the offers and a Layar app makes the paper mailing sound. Those who take the picture with the app get to see a video of the air guitar hero. The mailing is designed to make wooed and discerning customers aware of the extras, according to a statement.

Responsible at Publics: Roger Rüegger, Marvin Hugentobler, Oliver Gisi (creation); Barbara Lagger, Milène Huber (consulting); Andrea Achermann (DTP); Sandro Ducceschi (programming); Jessica Küng (art buying); Romeo Bucceroni (production).

Ruf Lanz: Campaign against winter sports accidents

Suva wants to reduce the number of winter sports accidents. A campaign is designed to help achieve this. Ruf Lanz created it.

Due to more active leisure activities, there are significantly more non-occupational accidents than occupational accidents in Switzerland today. Many of these occur during sport. Around 30 percent of all sports accidents in Switzerland are winter sports accidents. Avoiding accidents on and off the slopes is therefore the aim of the current winter sports campaign from Suva's Suvaliv brand. The campaign appeals to the personal responsibility of winter sports enthusiasts to recognize their own limits and correctly assess the risk.

At the heart of the campaign is a TV commercial that celebrates the beauty of the Swiss mountains, as the agency writes in a press release. Only at the end of the commercial is the viewer shown a surprising twist: This beauty can only be enjoyed by those who don't risk too much.

The new Suva commercial was created by Ruf Lanz. The agency has been responsible for the multi-award-winning Suvaliv prevention campaigns since 2002. The commercial was realized in close collaboration with director Michael Fueter, the film production company Stories and the CGI specialists from Cloudscape. The commercial will be used in all three national languages from December 24. There will also be an English version for the Suva app.

Responsible at Suva: Susan Huber-Brun (Advertising + Communication Suvaliv), Samuli Aegerter (Campaign Manager Snow Sports). Responsible at Ruf Lanz: Markus Ruf, Danielle Lanz (Creative Direction), Markus Ruf (Script), Sebastian Durband, Doelkar Monkhar (Consulting). Responsible at Stories: Director: Michael Fueter. Cinematography: Pascal Walder, production: Yves Bollag, Laura Rindlisbacher, CGI: Cloudscape, music: Spacetrain, sound design: Gian Dolder, mix & voice recording: Jingle Jungle.

SFLB: Christie's auctions portrait photos

To mark its 100th anniversary, SFLB sent out 15 young photographers on behalf of the Swiss Bankers Association to take portraits of 100 people in their profession. The portraits have now been auctioned off.

From the works of the photographers (Werbewoche.ch reported), a book with 100 portraits including 100 thank-yous to the various professionals was created, as the Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett agency writes in a press release. The photographs themselves were exhibited at various locations in Switzerland throughout the year and were representative of the entire Swiss population. At the end of the anniversary year, on December 5, 2012, others were also able to rejoice: after 80 photographs had previously been acquired in a silent auction, twenty were subsequently put under the auction hammer at the Karin Sutter Gallery in Basel under the direction of Christie's. The proceeds of CHF 65,000 will go to the Speranza Foundation, which supports the integration of young and older people into the world of work.

Responsible at Swiss Banking: Jean-Marc Felix (Member of the Management Board), Marlen Melone (Head of Event Management). Responsible at Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett: Reto Clement, Diana Rossi (Creation), Peter Brönnimann (Executive Creative Director), Rolf Zimmermann (Strategy), Isabelle Meier, Nadine Stüssi (Consulting).
