Zenithoptimedia: Beat Krebs new CEO

Beat Krebs, who has served as COO of the Zenithoptimedia agencies since March 2013, will assume the role of CEO effective November 1. His predecessor, Brigitte Gubser, is leaving the company in November at her own request.

Jonas Eliassen, Brand Director of the local agency BG Media, and Gérald LeMeur, responsible for the Zenithoptimedia branch in Nyon, will remain on board, according to the press release. Gubser joined Bemberg, Gedenk, Media in 2006 as Client Service Director and took over responsibility for the entire agency group as CEO following the departure of the two founders and Managing Partners Dietmar Bemberg and Andreas Gedenk in May 2010.

"These have been exciting, challenging and eventful years," summarizes Gubser. "Together as a team, we have restructured the agency and optimized and further developed it with a view to the challenges of the future. I will devote myself to new tasks in the future. But first I'm looking forward to realizing a long-held dream with my husband: an extended sailing trip in the South Pacific. I am very happy that I know the agency is in the best hands in every respect with Beat as CEO and will always remember my time at ZenithOptimedia fondly."

Beat Krebs joined Zenithoptimedia in March after more than ten years at Omnicom Media Group, where he held various positions and most recently contributed significantly to the optimization of processes and workflows as COO. Beat Krebs: "A year ago, Brigitte Gubser gave me the opportunity to succeed her as CEO of Zenithoptimedia after an induction period. I am looking forward to this challenge and will continue the repositioning initiated by Brigitte and embark on a successful future with a motivated team".

Nicole Prüsse, Chairman Zenithoptimedia Northern, Central and Eastern Europe: "Brigitte Gubser took over the then owner-managed agency over three years ago and realigned it to the changing communication requirements of an increasingly digital media landscape. She succeeded in establishing the "Live ROI" approach of the global Zenithoptimedia network at the Zurich and Nyon locations, thereby sharpening the agency's profile. Under her leadership, Performics, the specialist agency for performance marketing, was launched in Switzerland, and Brigitte Gubser also helped to establish the Vivaki Exchange media competence center as the agency group's purchasing organization in Switzerland. We regret Brigitte's decision and would like to thank her most sincerely for the trusting collaboration over the past few years. We wish her all the best, both professionally and personally."

Neutral: Re-branding for Zimmerli

Zimmerli has made itself fit for the future with a repositioning and growth strategy. The new image developed by Neutral reflects the established values and positions the Aarburg-based company in the now.

The task for the agency was to revise the brand and market presence on the way from a premium to a luxury brand. The goal was to generate an unmistakable modern presence in all areas of communication - from customer mailing and packaging to campaign and point of sale. Neutral took the single positioning statement "The world's finest underwear. Handmade in Switzerland since 1871." seriously and implemented it consistently in the new appearance of the traditional Swiss brand: The logo was further developed in an evolutionary manner, has become more sensual and feminine, but also more self-confident. The new shape is based on what already exists and adds consistent elegance and timelessness, in keeping with the tradition of Swiss typography. The new brand colors brown and beige replace the cool gray and convey warmth and naturalness. The new generation of packaging is reduced, elegant, typographically tidy and clearly arranged in the series for an attractive appearance on the sales shelf.

The image campaign stages the Zimmerli product together with reduced contemporary architecture and a breathtaking natural backdrop. After all, architecture and nature are now known throughout the world as representatives of a modern and innovative Switzerland. The photo was taken at Haus Presenhuber in Vnà in the Lower Engadine. The concrete vacation home quotes the traditional architecture of the Engadine without romanticizing it. The campaign was photographed by the American Zoë Ghertner.

Zimmerli CEO Marc Hosseli: "The collaboration with Neutral was very inspiring and professional. The agency understood how to visually implement our essential brand values and fill the visual language with content. With the new look, positioning and presence are consistent and will help increase brand awareness."

Responsible at Zimmerli of Switzerland: Marcel Hossli (CEO), Sigrun Wähner (Head of Marketing Communications), Sonja Baumann (Head of Marketing Communications). Responsible at Neutral: Rudolph Schürmann (responsibility strategy and creation), Michelle Nicol (responsibility consulting and art buying), Oliver von Glutz und Blotzheim (art director), Vincent Delaleu (graphic designer), Carole Lütschg (client service director), Monika Arnold (account director), Kinga Binkowska (account assistant), Yves Coulter (PR); photography image campaign: Zoe Ghertner.

Swiss advertising market shrinks in 2014

Twice a year, the Media Research Group surveys 750 major Swiss advertisers about their advertising spending for the coming twelve months. By mid-2014, that spending is expected to decline by 3.75 percent.

The total communication volume for the period from July 2013 to June 2014 amounted to CHF 5.55 billion. This is CHF 217 million less than at the beginning of the year. At the same time, this is also the lowest figure since 2010. Traditional media were hit hardest by the decline, falling by 4.5% overall. The losses in other communication are slightly lower, falling by 3%.

Advertising investments in traditional media:

1.statistik1

The three traditional pillars of traditional advertising (newspapers, magazines and television) have been hit hardest by the decline. Online and mobile media have gained ground, with a share of 17.4%.

Advertising investments in the other media:

1.statistik2

The 81 million decline in non-classical communication is attributable to sales promotion (including advertising at the POS), direct advertising and trade fairs. Sponsorship and PR got off relatively unscathed. There have also been significant shifts in the area of non-classical communication in recent years. In 2010, direct advertising still had a volume of 900 million francs. In 2012, it fell below the 800 million mark. It has remained at this level ever since. Now, for the first time, it is falling further down. There has been little movement in sponsorship. As was the case five years ago, the advertising industry's investment in sponsorship stands at CHF 630 million.

SRG sets programming focus

With its themed month «Die Schweizer – Les Suisses – Gli Svizzeri – Ils Svizzers,» SRG aims to encourage the public to explore their own history in November 2013.

The history and state of Switzerland will be reflected on with four docu-fiction films about outstanding figures in Swiss history and a thematic focus on all SRG media (radio, television and internet) in the four language regions. SRG journalists in all four language regions will be working on numerous programs and formats from November 3 to 30, 2013.

The centerpiece: four films about six personalities in Swiss history who have influenced the fate of the country. They are set in two important eras: The time when the Swiss Confederation was founded and the century in which modern Switzerland was born.

The protagonists of the first two films lived in the 14th and 15th centuries, at the time of the formation of the old Swiss Confederation. Werner Stauffacher, the mayor of Schwyz, who, according to tradition, successfully led the Swiss Confederates into the Battle of Morgarten. And Niklaus von Flüe, the holy hermit, peacemaker from
Obwalden and influential warner of great power political arrogance and the mayor of Zurich, Hans Waldmann, general and guild master.

Episodes three and four focus on three figures who helped turn Switzerland into one of Europe's first democracies and an economically successful small state in the 19th century - modern Switzerland: Guillaume-Henri Dufour, Geneva engineer and general, Alfred Escher, railroad pioneer, bank founder and, together with the first Ticino Federal Councillor Stefano Franscini, initiator of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Last but not least: Naked except for Paul Smith boxer shorts

Advertising has been using extreme sports in various ways for a long time. The new clip with French slackliners Antoine Moineville and Tancréde Nelet is particularly breathtaking.

Once they have scaled the steep summit, they stretch a rope across the abyss. Balancing on it, they strip down to their Paul Smith underwear collection. You get a little cold and dizzy just watching them - for example when they do a handstand over the abyss. See for yourself, preferably in front of a big screen. (sis)
