Wirz: Living more sustainably with Ikea

Wirz Werbung has produced the first in a series of promotional videos showcasing IKEA's sustainable products.

Ikea has made several products more affordable that help the environment and reduce electricity costs - so more people can afford to live more sustainably at home, the company said in a statement Monday. The first commercial in the campaign is dedicated to Ikea's LED light bulbs: they use 85 percent less electricity and last up to 20 years.

However, they did not want to tell all this on the basis of dry facts. So Wirz has the advantages of LED light interpreted by precisely the person for whom it is particularly important that the earth's resources are already being used carefully today: a child. In the 30-second TV spot, a little girl tells how everyone can make their home a little better.

Last but not least: I quit

The 25-year-old US journalist Marina Shifrin has also expressed her dissatisfaction with the quality of the media. And resigned from her job as a news video producer in absolutely cinematic fashion.

In a video, Shifrin informs her boss of her dismissal while dancing to a song by Kanye West. Her boss is only interested in getting as many clicks as possible on the agency's news videos. He doesn't care about content. For once in her life, she wanted to make her own video with a real message.

Marina's boss responded with a video that was almost as humorous:

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ukGrwL4ky4

In a Interview Marina gave to the Huffiington PostIt becomes clear that the dance video really was a spontaneous action in the early hours of the morning after a night of work. Marina was then motivated by friends and family to actually publish the private joke video. She thought her boss would find it funny. That was not the case.

Marina takes a positive view of the whole thing: she wants to develop more in the direction of comedy and creative writing anyway. Thanks to the video, she has received several requests for freelance work - including from Queen Latifah. According to her Twitter profile, Marina is currently also working as a babysitter. (sis)

Keyboard shortcuts with a deeper meaning

The artwork «Shortcut No. 5» by Hugo Orlandini plays with word and symbol abbreviations. It will be on display starting October 17 on the 17-meter-long, 2-meter-high billboard (17Zwei) under Zurich’s Hardbrücke.

The everyday use of computers, smartphones and tablets has influenced our writing behavior and our way of expressing ourselves. Building on this, Cuban artist Hugo Orlandini creates contemporary works of art by creating collages of new characters and keyboard shortcuts. Orlandini uses the vocabulary of this sign language to explore social and political issues.

The work is the 13th in the series of the art project 17Zwei, a cooperation project between Deutsche Bank and the Zurich University of the Arts. The public vernissage in the presence of the artist will take place on October 17 at 5 p.m. in Café Segafredo under Zurich's Hardbrücke.

Leo Burnett turns mailboxes into newspaper box

Regional free newspapers have a new national advertising bundle. Leo Burnett Switzerland is promoting it on behalf of the Association of Swiss Free Newspapers with a campaign.

An ad in a Swiss free newspaper can now reach 1.6 million households or, to put it another way, every second Swiss mailbox. To remind media planners of this impressive figure, the Leo Burnett Switzerland agency transformed the mailboxes of 19 Swiss media agencies into newspaper boxes on September 19: By means of glue covering the exact area of the mailbox. A Post-it resolved the campaign: "With the regional free newspapers, 1.6 million mailboxes become newspaper boxes."

You can find out more about the national combi on Free newspapers.ch.
