Schawinski goes to Strasbourg

The legal battle over the awarding of radio licenses is entering the next phase: Media entrepreneur Roger Schawinski refuses to accept the ruling of the Federal Administrative Court and is taking the case to Strasbourg.

He is submitting a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights, as Radio Eins announced on Sunday. "The ruling of the Federal Administrative Court in the matter of radio licenses is cynical, incomprehensible and therefore unacceptable to us," Schawinski is quoted as saying in the communiqué. In April, the Federal Administrative Court wrote off complaints from Schawinski as irrelevant (Werbewoche.ch reported). The complainants around Schawinski had already announced at the time that they would examine further options for taking action against the decisions. An ordinary appeal to the Federal Supreme Court is not possible in the matter of radio licenses. According to Schawinski and his partners, they want to break the media monopolies in Graubünden and Aargau in the protracted dispute over radio licenses. An appeal has been lodged against the radio licenses for Radio Südostschweiz (formerly Radio Grischa) and Radio Argovia.

The Federal Administrative Court had declared Schawinski's appeals invalid on the grounds that submitted license applications may no longer be amended. A license application is of a highly personal nature, meaning that a change of party, ownership structure or financing is inadmissible. Schawinski accuses the Federal Administrative Court of this being an "extremely transparent pretext", as stated in Sunday's communiqué. "They simply did not want to deal with this important matter." Last but not least: Football to Football Translator

The world is talking about soccer. Americans want to join the conversation, but they're struggling with the vocabulary. A browser translation plugin comes to the rescue.

It is a cliché that North Americans are not interested in football. However, the fact that soccer occupies one of the bottom places on the list of sports priorities in the United States is not. Soccer is popular among young people as an active sport, the American MLS league is on the rise and the national team is no longer an outsider at international tournaments. The USA has been a world leader in women's soccer for years. Nevertheless, compared to baseball, basketball, ice hockey and, above all, American football, soccer is of little interest.

After the Olympic Games, the World Cup is considered the most important sporting event in the world. Good if you can have a say. Not so good if you don't know the first thing about soccer. But don't despair, dear Americans. Resourceful creatives have developed an add-on for the Chrome browser that translates soccer Chinese ("The Sissy World Cup Lingo") into tried and tested football vocabulary: "The Football to Football Translator". Once installed, expressions and names of any English-language websites are highlighted in green and explained in a pop-up. For example, the interested greenhorn learns that head coaches in football are called "managers" and why they often wear fancy suits: "A lot of them wear fancy suits because they're fancy." Or that the English are "perennial, overrated failures" who won once a long time ago and have been talking big ever since. There's not really much to add. It is unclear whether there is a viral campaign behind the add-on. (hae)

Polyconsult: Waste World Cup

As the warm weather sets in, the peak season for littering begins. To combat this, Polyconsult, on behalf of the City of Bern, is appealing to its citizens« sense of personal responsibility through the campaign »Subers Bärn – zäme geits!”.

This year's awareness campaign takes advantage of World Cup fever. After all, football and correct waste disposal have one essential common denominator: only those who score win. Parallel to the mobile posters at the littering hotspots, waste referees are on the road. Those who are "caught" disposing of their waste correctly are rewarded with a World Cup ball. Litterers get a yellow card.

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung team shows how high-quality data journalism can work even in small organizations." Furthermore, the project "The Migrants' Files" was awarded. A group of journalists, including two female colleagues from the NZZ, investigated how many migrants have perished on their way to Europe since the year 2000. The number is enormous: there have already been over 23,000 deaths - much more than previously assumed. The numbers are now recorded in a database that is accessible to any interested person.

Saatchi & Saatchi: Launch campaign for Somersby

Somersby Apple Original is taking the Swiss retail and foodservice sectors by storm with a new recipe and a campaign by Saatchi & Saatchi.

The internationally most successful alcoholic beverage of the Carlsberg Group was invented by Lord Somersby when he discovered an apple tree one day. Fans of the first hour are illustrious personalities such as Cleopatra, Napoleon or Lincoln - or so they say. The launch campaign is just as refreshingly different as the slightly alcoholic apple drink. "Stay open minded!" is the message that links all the measures together.

LordSomersby

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6OW42Ro-10

Together with Feldschlösschen, Coolbrandz, Catalyx and Mediahirsch, Saatchi & Saatchi Team Zurich launched a FunLab and relied on co-creation. With insights from 500 early adopters, the international campaign was adapted specifically for Switzerland. More than 2'000 enthusiastic ambassadors actively helped to send more than 57'000 bottles to Somersby fans or distribute them at selected pick-up events before the launch.

EventTour

The campaign roll-out has been running since April 1 across all channels. In addition to classic measures such as print ads, posters and TV commercials, the contacts established in the FunLab are being used above all. Within the first few months, over 2000 Facebook fans were gained. Lord Somersby is currently on tour through Switzerland and makes surprise visits with his entourage; for example at the 42nd Inventors' Fair in Geneva. Lord Somersby invented a new mail system especially for the press - the message in a bottle.

Renewal at the Werbeclub Ostschweiz

The Werbeclub Ostschweiz (WCO) has a new board team: President Pino Zünd is handing over his office to Roger Tinner after 17 years. Other new members of the board are Hanspeter Häne, Roland Köppel, Lea Hobi, Pascale Hoch and Katja Thürlemann.

A real era came to an end at the Annual General Meeting at the Balik salmon smokehouse in Ebersol: Pino Zünd, founder and owner of the Brandwork agency in Berneck, stepped down as President after 17 years. His achievements, in particular the organization of exciting events with top-class guests and the club's 40th anniversary last year, were deservedly acknowledged by Honorary President Peter Thoma. The members present also appointed Pino Zünd as Honorary President with applause.

Renewal and rejuvenation

Along with Pino Zünd, the previous Board members Irene Schoch, Gabriella Wiss and Erwin Feurer also stepped down after many years of commitment. With the new appointments, the Board has now also been rejuvenated and has a "fifty-fifty" composition with three women and three men - both of which are concerns of the new President Roger Tinner, founder and owner of alea iacta in St.Gallen. He is now supported in the management of the club by Lea Hobi (Ammarkt), Pascale Hoch (Kraftkom), Katja Thürlemann (Notenstein Privatbank) and the confirmed board members Hanspeter Häne (Publicitas) and Roland Köppel (Netz Werk).

The new Board of Directors has already discussed future priorities at its first meeting. After the summer break, it will present a new program and initial decisions to the more than 220 individual and corporate members. One of the declared aims of the new crew is to renew the club as a whole after the Board and thus also attract new members. The new president says: "We want to supplement the tried-and-tested with new ideas that will motivate the next generation of advertisers in particular to join."
