CWS celebrates its 60th anniversary

In 1954, the Swiss Conrad Wolfgang Schnyder founded CWS Switzerland. The first CWS cloth towel dispenser was launched on the European market.

The idea of bringing the cloth towel dispenser to Europe originally came from the wife of the CWS founder. During a trip to the USA in the mid-1950s, Mrs. Schnyder discovered the towel dispensers and was very taken with them. In Europe at that time, it was common practice in the washrooms of public buildings and industrial plants to use a communal towel until it was so dirty that nobody really wanted to touch it.

In 1976, CWS introduced the world's first electronic towel dispenser. In 1990, the company launched the so-called retractive system for cloth towel dispensers: the cloth portion is retracted after use so that no one comes into contact with previously used cloth.

Tamedia Digital introduces itself on a new website

The Tamedia Digital division, which brings together all of the Tamedia media group’s digital, non-editorial activities and subsidiaries, is launching its own website at Tamediadigital.ch.

The website is clearly laid out, designed according to the latest web design standards and available in German, French and English. Navigation is intuitive via large tiles and teasers on the homepage or via a classic navigation bar that can be clicked on separately. The website is consistently geared towards use with mobile devices and also integrates social media such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Tamediadigital.ch provides an overview of all activities and subsidiaries in the digital sector of the Tamedia media group in order to give them greater visibility. Each company in the portfolio and their CEOs are portrayed individually. Another focus of the site is to address potential employees. Vacancies in the digital sector are presented in a bundled form on the site. Tamedia Digital also presents itself as a potential cooperation partner for start-ups. The content is supplemented by news from the digital sector. The website was developed and implemented by the Zurich-based web agency Dwb.ch.

The launch of the website is part of an overall project aimed at improving Tamedia's networking in the start-up scene. Participation in various events and trade fairs is planned. For example, Tamedia and ETH Zurich will be holding "Hack Zurich", a project competition for programmers, from October 10 to 12, 2014.

Christian Müller will leave ZO Medien

There will be a change in the journalistic management of ZO Medien AG. Editor-in-chief Christian Müller is leaving his post on 31 March 2015 to set up his own company in the field of communications consulting and organizational development.

At the time of his departure, Müller will have been with ZO Medien for exactly 21 years, most recently seven years as Editor-in-Chief, Zürcher Oberland Medien AG announced on Wednesday. Under his journalistic leadership, the company developed the 3-media strategy, from which, among other things, ZO-Online emerged as the strongest regional news portal in the canton of Zurich.

The Board of Directors regrets Müller's decision. Müller's designated successor is his current deputy Christian Brändli, according to the statement. The 52-year-old Brändli has been a member of the ZO Medien editorial team for 25 years and is currently head of the editorial team.

The House Agency pedals for Skoda

The House Agency designed and implemented a comprehensive content platform for Skoda called Velowelt. This strategic initiative supports the company's long-term commitment to cycling.

The automotive group's involvement goes back to the Skoda company founders Laurin and Klement, whose original company model from 1895 was based on the repair of bicycles. It was not until ten years later that they switched to the automotive industry.

Skoda.ch/velowelt builds on this core concept and presents eight clever, family-friendly bike tours in German-speaking Switzerland for the launch. The routes lead through particularly beautiful stretches of countryside to varied excursion destinations such as theme parks, zoos or swimming pools - so-called points of interest. The tours were developed in close cooperation with Familienleben.ch and are being continuously expanded.

But Skoda.ch/velowelt offers even more: in addition to the family tours, users will find a varied content world with exciting reports, helpful tips, healthy recipes and recommendations on sport and fitness. A calendar reminds users of the most important cycling dates. Various checklists are available for download.

"With the Skoda Velowelt, we want to offer families and cycling enthusiasts unique added value and bring our commitment to cycling closer," says Marc Bislin, E-Commerce Manager at Skoda. With the well-known Swiss water bottle manufacturer Sigg, Velowelt already has its first strong partner. Using a voucher code, Velowelt users receive a 20 percent discount on the new Sigg Viva water bottle. Further collaborations are planned.

Last but not least: Happy fall of the wall

Twenty-five years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the BBDO agency in Berlin is delighting tourists with a clever photo concept.

The Berlin Wall fell on the night of November 9-10, 1989 - 28 years after it was built. It was about time. Today, nobody mourns the concrete border anymore (except for the satirical party "Die Partei", which wants to raise the wall again as a declared goal). On the contrary: the 25th anniversary of the end of the separation in November is a reason for Berlin to celebrate. And to commemorate. The history of the divided country, with all its victims and suffering, is still moving today.

To promote Berlin's countless museums and their "Visit Berlin" museum pass, BBDO has created an exciting photo experience for tourists. Because for most visitors who pose in front of the remains of the Wall today, the structure is merely an original photo backdrop. Tourists are often unaware of what really happened at the sites in question. In order to arouse interest in the history behind the concrete, the agency installed projectors that showed photos from that time on the wall. The highlight: the projection was triggered by photo flashes and was only visible for a fraction of a second. Barely perceptible to the human eye, the historical images only appeared on the photos. 25 years after the fall of the Wall, images from Berlin once again went around the world - this time via social media, distributed by tourists. The remarkable "Berlin Museum Flashback" idea was rewarded with a Bronze Lion in Cannes. (hae)

Koch: Entrepreneurs take responsibility

The image campaign of the Thurgau Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) created by Koch Kommunikation is entering its second phase.

The aim of the communication measures is still to narrow the gap between the population and the economy and to show that Thurgau's companies are firmly anchored in society. With this campaign, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce would like to make a contribution to positively influencing the climate in the population - especially with regard to anti-business voting proposals.

The key visual was retained, but the message was expanded. While in the first year entrepreneurs and their employees were in front of the lens, the focus is now on the social commitment of the entrepreneurs. "It was very important to us not to focus on financial support and sponsoring, but on the personal, voluntary commitment of the entrepreneurs in their free time," explains Peter Maag, Director of the Thurgau Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Christian Neuweiler, President of the Thurgau Chamber of Commerce and Industry, adds: "With their commitment, many entrepreneurs demonstrate how important the common good is to them. We think, especially in times of discussions about rip-offs and the like, it's good to remember that once again."
To demonstrate this impressively, no fewer than 13 subjects were realized. Posters, rail posters, advertisements and online banners are used in the campaign.

No appeal: Rocchi case is over

The Neuchâtel Public Prosecutor's Office is not appealing the ruling of the Court of Coercive Measures, which had found the search of the home of Western Swiss journalist Ludovic Rocchi to be illegal. This brings the legal dispute to a close.

The compulsory measures court ruled at the end of May that freedom of the press should have taken precedence. This view was "very advantageous" for the press and also for public officials who bypassed hierarchies and asked internal questions publicly, the Neuchâtel public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. The search of Rocchi's home took place in August 2013 following a complaint from a professor at the University of Neuchâtel. Following accusations of plagiarism by the newspaper Le Matin, the professor accused the journalist of defamation, libel and violation of official secrecy. The newspaper Le Matin and its parent company Tamedia were very pleased to have been vindicated in the Rocchi case. In this way, a fundamental right for the media and democracy had been defended.
