Ruf Lanz sends art on the road for Welti-Furrer

When it comes to presenting advertising messages in unexpected ways and conveying them to the audience, Welti-Furrer turns to Ruf Lanz. In the new campaign, the creative team demonstrates just how easily works of art travel around the world with Welti-Furrer.

There they are—the Mona Lisa, Vincent van Gogh, and Jan Vermeer’s famous Girl with a Pearl Earring—sitting back and relaxing in first-class airplane cabins, enjoying themselves. The three subjects appear in art-related contexts in newspapers, magazines, and on posters.

Keystone: New exclusive images from Magnum

The Keystone photo agency has entered into a partnership with Magnum and will now exclusively distribute Magnum's images in Switzerland.

Keystone wants to give Magnum more presence in Switzerland, company CEO Jann Jenatsch was quoted as saying in a statement. Magnum's high-quality images are a strong complement to the imagery supplied by Keystone, he said. The new partnership is being launched by the "Black Monday" platform. In February, the platform will show the exhibition "10 by Magnum" in Zurich, featuring works by ten photographers.

The renowned Magnum photo agency was founded in Paris in 1947 by Robert Capa, George Rodger, David Seymour and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Zurich-based René Burri, who died last fall at the age of 81, was also a member of Magnum. (SDA)

Swiss Sponsorship Awards presented

Last weekend, the Swiss Sponsorship Awards were presented at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. This was the third time the event had been held.

Almost 100 members of management, marketing and sponsorship managers responded to the call of the "Swiss Sponsorship Think Tank" to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne to select the best sponsorships of 2014. The ceremony, which was preceded by a seminar and conference program on measuring success and new international trends in sponsorship, took place for the third time.

The nine-member jury, consisting of the President of IMD Business School, Dominique Turpin, the CEO of MCI Group, Sébastien Tondeur, the CEO of Bongénie-Grieder, Pierre Brunschwig, the President of the Paléo Festival, Daniel Rosselat, the President of the Swiss Sponsorship Think Tank, Sebastian Chiappero, the Head of Marketing of IBM, Antonio Rossetti, the Deputy Head of Sponsoring at Swisscom, Simon Hofmann, the Education and Universities Manager at UEFA Thomas Junod and the CEO of CCI Cotting and IE Business School faculty member Patrick Cotting nominated three campaigns each for the Sport, Culture and Society categories in advance.

The president of the jury, Patrick Cotting, pointed out right at the beginning of the ceremony that the Swiss Sponsorship Awards wanted to recognize the best sponsorships of the year and not just those who submitted a project, as is the case with other awards. "All nominees are therefore already winners. The jury looked at a large number of sponsorships and each jury member was only allowed to vote for two projects in each category." Swisscom jury member Simon Hofmann was only allowed to vote for the best social sponsorship, as Swisscom was nominated for the sport and culture categories. When presenting their campaigns, all nominees - with the exception of the Migros representatives who were not present - pointed out what was special about their campaign: why it was done, what made it special and how it was implemented.

Five awards presented

During the bilingual event in the national languages German and French, five of the nine nominated campaigns were honored:
- Best Sport Sponsorship of the Year 2014: Ragusa (Camille Bloch) - Lara Gut
- Best Cultural Sponsorship of the Year 2014 : Swisscom - Energy Air
- Best Social Sponsorship of the Year 2014 : Migros - Program with WWF for children and young people
- Best Overall Sponsorship of the Year 2014 (Public Award) : Zweifel - Chips on Tour
- IBM Digital Activation Award : Swisscom - Patrouille des Glaciers

Schlieren printing plant to close permanently

Following the expiration of the consultation period and a careful review of the alternative scenarios proposed by the employee representatives, the NZZ Media Group will cease printing operations at its Schlieren facility.

The company already communicated a corresponding declaration of intent last November (Werbewoche.ch reported).

The NZZ media group will close its printing center in Schlieren. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung and NZZ am Sonntag will be printed at Tamedia's Zurich printing center from the middle of the year. The final decision was preceded by a consultation process. An intensive, transparent exchange took place between employer and employee representatives, according to a statement from the NZZ Media Group. The Board of Directors and company management of the NZZ Media Group carefully examined the proposals of the employee representatives. They have come to the conclusion that, from a business and strategic point of view, no other scenario would be nearly as expedient as the closure of the printing center. Veit Dengler, CEO of the NZZ Media Group: "The closure of the printing center is a painful decision, but one that is right and important for the future of the media group."

The company management will now do everything in its power to mitigate the consequences for the affected employees as far as possible, the press release concludes.

Syndicom: strategically wrong, economically unnecessary and socially irresponsible

According to the Syndicom trade union, the decision lacks economic and journalistic necessity. It only serves to keep profits high for NZZ shareholders. "125 employees are losing their jobs at one of the most profitable printing plants in Switzerland," the union wrote in a statement on Tuesday. The closure is economically unnecessary, strategically wrong and socially irresponsible.

Contrary to the assurances of the NZZ management, the arguments of the staff and works committees, the employees and their union Syndicom were not taken seriously: It would be possible to continue newspaper printing in Schlieren without the NZZ getting into difficulties and having to change its digital publishing plans.

Y7K relaunches Filmgerberei.ch

The YY7K agency has launched a new website. This time for the Zurich film production Filmgerberei.

The new Online presence of the film tannery has become a quantum leap, the agency said in a statement. As part of the future strategy, it was crucial to clearly delineate the three business areas of corporate, commercial and film. Interactively, form and content formulation were reduced to the maximum - to what is essential for the respective target group of the area.

filmgerberei-home

Y7K's focus was on the craft of film tanning: the image. Y7K developed a complex grid system that uses images generously and across the entire surface. The website adapts dynamically to the content, the layout remains constantly perfect and aesthetic - with short, concise texts as well as with an abundance of high-resolution images.

Seed: Experience the new Swiss Re headquarters

Seed has produced another short documentary about the new Swiss Re headquarters. The film takes viewers on a journey inside the building.

Swiss Re is building its new headquarters at Mythenquai in Zurich. The building, which will be ready for occupancy in 2017, was designed by the Basel-based architecture firm Diener & Diener. Seed is accompanying the construction with a multi-part series of short documentaries.

About the documentary

The latest film directed by Simon Koller is dedicated to the architectural concept. The viewer is guided through the most important rooms at eye level and thus gains an impressive insight into the interior of the building. Seed used special camera material to film inside the 1:50 models. With this technique, an independent look was created, which would not have been possible with 3D animations.

The result is an entertaining and informative film. It is aimed at employees as well as the interested public.
