Agency at the airport gives Ultimate Ears a hearing

To make Ultimate Ears' new water- and shock-resistant wireless mobile speaker heard, the company has now commissioned the agency at the airport to develop sales and consumer promotion measures.

The Ultimate Ears success story began in California in 1995 with the production of professional earphones that were customized to the individual ear. These revolutionized the way artists worked on stage and quickly became the brand of choice for stars and starlets worldwide. Last year, Ultimate Ears achieved another music technology revolution with the UE Boom, a waterproof and shockproof wireless mobile speaker.

Last but not least: What do you think of...?

Under what conditions must surveys be representative? This question arises anew with every statistical analysis. But even if they’re less representative, they’re all the more entertaining for it.

On the newly launched survey and communication platform Pollpoll.ch surveys (linked with additional text, image and video material) can be posted easily and free of charge. All public surveys are visible on the homepage and can be called up in various categories or by keyword. Each survey can be linked to text, image and video material and shared via social media. This can be done either as a public or private survey for invited participants.

And because Pollpoll.ch allows practically all surveys, there is plenty of fun to be had as well as gaining new insights. (uma)

Five Stars: «Sun and more.»

For the 2015 vacation season, Fünfstern has developed a launch campaign that covers the entire range of ITS Coop Travel’s offerings across all key categories: beach vacations, city breaks, tours, and cruises for couples and families.

From concept to execution, Fünfstern developed a campaign for ITS Coop Travel that attracts significant attention—both in traditional media and online—thanks to key visuals with high brand recognition. A newly designed TV commercial using stop-motion animation serves as the focal point of the campaign. ITS Coop Travel placed great emphasis on continuity in the advertising language as well as on engaging the audience. With «Sun and more,» the style was given a fresh new twist and enhanced with new themes.

In addition to the TV commercial, the campaign includes posters on public transportation, posters during and around the vacation fairs, print ads, online advertising, and various point-of-sale promotions at Coop stores.

Charlie Hebdo continues to pause

Following the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo in January, the French satirical weekly has suspended publication. It will be back on newsstands in a few weeks, the editorial staff wrote on its website on Sunday.

The employees were tired and exhausted, explained Anne Hommel, who has been responsible for public relations since the terrorist attack on January 7, which left a total of twelve people dead. The first issue after the attack had been produced in the editorial offices of the newspaper Libération and printed a total of seven million times due to great demand.

Previously, the weekly circulation was around 60'000 copies. Since this January 14 issue, the paper, which normally comes out on Wednesdays, had now failed to appear twice. (SDA)

UBI: Kassensturz contribution was not appropriate

The UBI upheld a complaint against a segment on the consumer magazine program *Kassensturz* on SRF television. However, it dismissed complaints against the talk show *Club* and a segment on *Temps Présent*.

As part of its public deliberations on Friday, the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) discussed the report "Zahnarztpfusch", which was broadcast on the program Kassensturz on 20 May 2014. The question of liability in the case of failed dental operations was discussed using a specific example. The UBI came to the conclusion that the audience was unable to form its own opinion on the liability issues discussed in the program. If serious accusations were made against persons or companies in a broadcast, qualified requirements regarding transparency and compliance with journalistic due diligence obligations would apply.

Essential facts such as the ongoing liability proceedings of the injured party against the dentist who had performed the failed operation and who is no longer working at the Aarau dental clinic were not mentioned in the article. Due to the lack of transparency, the public was unable to distinguish between statements on liability for incorrect treatment in dental clinics in general and liability in the case described. The UBI therefore upheld the corresponding complaint by a dentist from the Aarau dental clinic shown in the report by 6 votes to 3 for violation of the principle of fairness.

Programs on drug policy not objected to

The UBI unanimously rejected two complaints against broadcasts focusing on drug policy. With regard to the SRF television program "Club" on the topic of "Legal weed - cities put pressure", the audience was allowed to form its own opinion based on the facts and views presented in the discussion. It was not necessary to point out that the former Federal Councillor Ruth Dreifuss, who took part in the discussion, had prevented the production of domestic hemp during her time in office, as had been claimed in the complaint.

A program by Temps Présent of RTS about the end of a prohibitive drug policy also did not violate any provisions. The thesis character of the film was clearly recognizable as such due to the transparent design and the audience's prior knowledge. The protection of minors required by broadcasting law was also not violated. An exaggerated comment against the parliament had constituted a deficiency in a minor point in the context of the entire broadcast.

Decisions of the UBI can be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court within 30 days of receiving the written reasons. (SDA)

André Marty appointed new head of communications at the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland

Former SRF Middle East correspondent André Marty is to become the new head of communications at the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland. The 49-year-old will take up the newly created post on March 1.

The appointment of the chief information officer underscores the effort to "provide transparent and timely information within the framework of the possibilities set by criminal law," the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland told the SDA news agency on Saturday. Marty has many years of diverse experience as a journalist.

After working for various newspapers, the Valais native moved to Swiss television SRF, where he worked as Italy and Middle East correspondent, among other positions. For the last three years, Marty worked as a communications officer at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

Marty reports directly to the Attorney General. Jeanette Balmer remains media spokeswoman for the Office of the Attorney General. (SDA)

TBWA\Zurich reorganized and with new creative leadership

As part of the reorganization, the management team at TBWA\Zurich underwent a major overhaul. In addition, the agency began 2015 with new creative directors.

In the future, Bruce Roberts and Cyrill Wirz will lead the creation together as Art&Copy Duo. Both have worked in leading agencies in Germany and abroad and bring a broad range of client experience to the table. Numerous of their works have won national and international awards. Bruce Roberts studied Graphic Design at the Cape College of Art in Cape Town South Africa and has lived in Switzerland since 2002. He is a member of the One Club New York. Cyrill Wirz studied business administration at the University of Zurich and is a member of ADC Switzerland and D&AD London.

In the course of the reorganization, the management of TBWA\Zurich was fundamentally restructured. In addition to the CD team, the Client Service Directors Petra Zehnder and Stephan Lanz, who joined at the beginning of 2014, are part of the new management body, as is Simon Rehsche, who has been responsible as Strategy Director at TBWA\ since 2013.

According to CEO Matthias Kiess, the reorganization is intended to revitalize the agency with new impulses, to create more efficient structures and ultimately to further improve the quality of services for customers. TBWA\ Zurich has set itself ambitious goals: Within the next three years, TBWA\ should be a relevant player in the rankings of the Swiss advertising scene and set accents that have rarely been seen from it before.

Flashlight storm for McDonalds

McDonald's restaurants in Switzerland are open every day until late at night. To remind passersby of this, TBWA\Zurich invented the world's first flash poster.

Thanks to an ingenious technique, the message on the black poster only comes to light when it is photographed with a flash and thus directly onto the mobile. The resulting photo is also a voucher that can be redeemed at McDonald's.

Last but not least: Do you understand Arabic?

A billboard featuring Arabic-style lettering is currently going viral. If you look closely, you can see why—and what it says.

At second glance, you realize what is written on the board: "At first glance, many things seem incomprehensible".

The poster is a campaign that Demner Merlicek Bergmann created years ago as part of the "Steirischer Herbst" festival in Graz under the name "look twice". It was the winning campaign in the "Rebranding European Muslims" competition, which was looking for ideas to positively influence the image of European Muslims in society.

Now the campaign is back in the news - and rightly so. Because right now, a second look at what's happening can hardly hurt. (uma)

The year of advertising

The "Year of Advertising" is a project of the Econ Forum at Econ Verlag, launched in 1964 as the "Yearbook of Advertising". In this year's competition, campaigns from Switzerland won two megaphones for Swisscom.

Together with its agency Heimat in Berlin, Swisscom won two megaphones in this year's "The Year of Advertising" competition. In the campaign category, it scored with the new marketing strategy for Samsung's S5 and won a silver trophy for "The Pulse Challenge". The Swisscom film "Nico" for the new TV format 2.0 also impressed the jury and was awarded a bronze megaphone. Convinced

promotes secure Swiss communication. It was named "Best in the Telecommunications Industry". This once again makes Swisscom one of the most successful companies in the competition.

BMW Switzerland and UBS are both "Best in the Industry". All work from Germany, Austria and Switzerland is compared. The German-Swiss cooperation between DigitasLBI and UBS dominated the financial sector with the relaunch of the UBS website. BMW (Switzerland) and Serviceplan Suisse came out on top in the automotive sector with their entry "Soundtree".

The competition also honors the "Agency of the Year". With the "Umparken im Kopf" campaign for Opel, Scholz & Friends won in 2014 over the previous year's winner, Heimat. However, this agency was only narrowly beaten with its work for Hornbach. Serviceplan came third. Blood from Hamburg was named "Newcomer of the Year". There were no entries from Switzerland. (pan)

Following the internationally acclaimed "All Eyes on Galaxy S4" campaign at Zurich main station in 2013, the Heimat agency took the idea a step further in 2014 with the "S5 Pulse Challenge" campaign. The campaign surrounding the nerve-wracking competition won a silver megaphone. The film was realized by Pumpkin.

Bronze was awarded for the Swisscom campaign for the new TV format 2.0. The "historical film", in which program director Nico has the artillery serviced, is staged like a blockbuster. The Heimat agency is responsible for the book. The film was also shot by Zurich-based Pumpkin Film.

A few ideas that stood out: The "Umparken im Kopf" campaign, which is about breaking down prejudices against the Opel brand, won the Grand Prix in the "Year of Advertising". Agency Scholz & Friends Hamburg. Hornbach and Heimat won gold twice for "Mach was gegen Hässlich" (Out of Home) and "Gothic Girl" (Film).
