The Zurich-based web agency Mitlinks has created the layout and technically implemented the student learning site Hvv-futuretour.de for the Hamburg transport association HVV. The aim of the website is to familiarize pupils with Hamburg's transport network, according to a press release. Classes that register via the website can embark on the HVV Futuretour - currently there are 21 school classes. The HVV Futuretour consists of excursions to public transport sites. In addition, a specially developed Wikipedia on the subject of "Mobility, transport and the environment" offers all kinds of interesting facts. Last year, Mitlinks realized a similar project for the Zurich Transport Association ZVV, the Zvv-trophy.ch site.

Tagi with new tariff system

Advertisements The Tages-Anzeiger is introducing fixed formats from 2007.

Advertisements The Tages-Anzeiger is introducing fixed formats from 2007 Last year, most of the large-circulation daily newspapers switched to the new rate system, but not the Tages-Anzeiger, Basler Zeitung (BaZ), Berner Zeitung (BZ) and the Ticino newspapers Corriere del Ticino, La Regione Ticinese and Giornale del Popolo. Now the Tamedia flagship is following suit. "The Tagi is switching to the integrated color millimeter in 2007 and is also introducing fixed formats at attractive conditions," says advertising manager Sandro Rüegger. In addition, the price will be limited to one black-and-white and one color price; the two-color price will no longer apply. The new price system applies to the main paper and also to the new regional splits, said Rüegger.
It is unclear whether BaZ and BZ will also follow the Metropool bandwagon. The BaZ said that a decision would not be made "before the end of October", and no statement was available from the BZ advertising manager by the editorial deadline.
Incidentally, the integrated color millimeter was already introduced last year in the Metropool, the advertising combination of Tagi, BaZ and BZ, as were some fixed formats. This will remain the case for the time being. The price will also remain at the current level - except for text ads, said Edi Battaglia from the clearing office.
The situation in Ticino is still open; according to Publicitas Lugano, tariff discussions are still ongoing there. However, a switch to the new system is unlikely - for technical reasons: The three newspapers cannot be printed in four colors throughout.

Beauty without suffering

Medizin Unikat aims to build trust in plastic surgery on behalf of the independent consulting center Acredis.

Medizin Unikat wants to build trust in plastic surgery for the independent advice center Acredis.
Cosmetic surgery is booming. But how do you find the right doctor? Since this May, Acredis has been the first independent Swiss advice center for plastic surgery. With a top-class medical advisory board and the support of the Swiss patient organization, Acredis subjects surgeons to a strict assessment and helps patients to find the right doctor for the desired operation. All questions about plastic surgery are answered - whether on the website acredis.com or in a personal consultation.Staging the problem zoneThe communications agency Unikat in Küsnacht ZH has made such pressing questions the subject of a launch campaign. This is staged in a visually captivating way around the exact body parts that the questioner is currently concerned about. Questions give rise to beauty. The question "Will there be a visible scar after my breast lift?" is playfully transformed into an image of what is a problem area for Acredis' customers - and the surgeon's field of work.
For Acredis, Unikat not only created the advertisements for the launch campaign, the first wave of which appeared in Annabelle and SI-Style in September. The agency also developed the name Acredis and the entire corporate design. The website acredis.com was developed together with the web agency Eyekon. Numerous below-the-line measures will follow in the coming months.

CS congratulates WOZ

Ad sales Kilian Gasser and WOZ sold over 20 pages of ads for the anniversary issue.

Ad sales Kilian Gasser and WOZ sold over 20 pages of ads for the anniversary issue.
The weekly WOZ is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a big party on October 7. The party celebrating a quarter of a century of the left-wing weekly press will, of course, be accompanied by an anniversary edition. This will be sold on the streets by prominent street vendors such as politicians Therese Frösch and Daniel Vischer or media people such as Karl Lüönd and Patrick Rohr as well as other celebrities from Beat Schlatter to Franz Hohler. In this anniversary issue itself, too, there are numerous sympathizers who wish WOZ a continued important future via advertisements. The big "surprise guest" in this campaign: Credit Suisse also places a full-page ad in the anniversary issue. The unusual sales campaign was handled by Kilian Gasser's advertising acquisition and publishing consultancy and the WOZ advertising department. And it was done with "extreme hard selling" in a way that not even the most penetrating tabloid media would dare to do. Gasser calls it "a Stürmi campaign". The basic idea came from the advertising agency Spillmann Felser Leo Burnett. It was executed by Gasser and his comrades with as much imagination as persistence, until finally, during the advertising campaign, "sensationally" over 22 pages of ads for WOZ were in the can.
Unusually briskIn a first phase, Kilian Gasser wrote to 150 selected advertising clients. Then he followed up twice. At first, there were also spiteful reactions, until the media people who were annoyed with the "Stürmi campaign" realized after an e-mail that their creative colleagues from Spillmann Felser Leo Burnett were hiding behind the idea. "Many of them wanted to stay on the mailing list so they could follow what was happening," says Gasser with a smile.
And so more and more other unusually brisk requests followed, such as "Book an ad now at last, then we'll leave you in peace". In addition to e-mails - old-fashioned, but obviously more conspicuous - fax requests to book advertisements were also sent out. There were "more reactions to these than to e-mails," Gasser marvels. The mails, on the other hand, were convincing with funny little films in which inserts were played with the request "WOZ bitte buchen! Trashy MMS messages were sent out as a further measure.
"The anniversary issue naturally lowers the inhibition threshold for booking an advertisement," Gasser believes. This can be better represented internally as a gesture of sympathy, even if WOZ would not be possible in a "normal" media plan. However: Credit Suisse presents a sustainable fund as a financial product in its full-page ad, which could well be of interest to alternative WOZ readers.
For the SBB, which reacted wittily to the sales terror - "Now leave us alone at last, we're booking" - the WOZ readership is indeed part of the target audience. Likewise, Migros was able to advertise its dedicated products without any problems. Coop has been involved with WOZ for some time, and Denner has likewise already recognized WOZ readers as an important target group.
For future sales activities, the "first-timers" of the anniversary edition are of course door-openers. In fact, the target group is quite interesting. And if CS can afford to advertise in WOZ, then...
Most of the competing papers did not take part in the anniversary campaign. But one of these publishers made Kilian Gasser a job offer, saying: "We could really use such a persistent salesman in our company.
At the end of the sales campaign, WOZ finally thanked the very stubborn ad refusers with a set of Jass cards. The gift was intended as a consolation for the fact that WOZ cannot lure potential advertisers with a luxury weekend in the south. "At least a Jassweekend in your own four walls." And if one changes one's mind now after all: WOZ will continue to gladly accept advertisements even after the anniversary issue.

She and he revised

In May of last year, Ringier added a magazine to its SonntagsBlick. She and He will undergo a slight overhaul on October 1.

In May last year, Ringier added a magazine to its SonntagsBlick that has since replaced the previous magazine supplement. The magazine's creators claimed to offer "straightforward journalism", a claim that was more likely to puzzle the wider public than raise expectations. Almost a year and a half after the launch of the magazine, which is intended to be received as a veritable magazine and not merely as a supplement, it will undergo a slight overhaul on October 1. Essentially, the aim is to bring the lavishly designed magazine, which is dominated by large-scale photo reports, closer to its parent paper SonntagsBlick. SoBli editor-in-chief Christoph Grenacher does not want to talk about a relaunch. "She and He will be slightly revised," he says. The most noticeable change is on the front page. "From now on, we will be working with pictures on the front that fall off the edges," says Grenacher. The logo of the parent newspaper SonntagsBlick is also emblazoned in the top left-hand corner - to avoid any misunderstandings. Essentially, the creators have optimized the reader guidance with additional service elements. According to Grenacher, the magazine is now "more compact and easier to read". The format has not been changed. The size also remains the same at 64 pages. "We still see ourselves as an illustrated magazine, with many small service articles alongside the large picture-dominated sections," he says. The paper is divided into two magazine sections. One of these is a new section called Enjoy. This deals with lifestyle topics, fashion, beauty, design, travel, food and drink. The other section is dedicated to culture. Next to it are the components of a magazine with small-scale elements. "We hope that we will succeed in positioning Sie und Er even better in the reader and advertising market," says Grenacher. He also wants to communicate this more aggressively. On the agency side, FCB Leutenegger Krüll is responsible for the revised design.

Rejuvenation

Magazines Media Station has realized a series of commercials for Zeitlupe, which are intended to have a rejuvenating effect on the target group.

Magazines Media Station has realized a series of commercials for Zeitlupe, which are intended to have a rejuvenating effect on the target group.
Senior citizens dance the tango, lose themselves in video games, dash around as sporty skaters or flirt while taking photos in an art museum. "The basic idea of the campaign for the magazine Zeitlupe is to use attractive formal means in sound and vision to show activities that are not immediately associated with the target group," says Emil Mahnig, editor-in-chief of Zeitlupe, formerly known as "Seniorenzeitung", explaining the new concept. The agency thus had "young activities carried out by older people" in its TV commercials, as Media Station adds.
The people shown in the commercials correspond to the target group. To keep the effect of the films as authentic as possible, the senior citizens were not replaced by body doubles during filming. The dynamic skater skating around Lake Aegeri is over 65 years old and actually covers several thousand kilometers a year on his blades.
The commercials were directed by Robi Sulzbacher. He showed the people in the first shots in such a way that you can't recognize their age. On the voiceover level - with the voice familiar to this generation
by Beromünster hit parade legend Christoph Schwegler - the "prejudices" are first reinforced and then dispelled. This is done with statements such as "What do you mean, old bones?" - "You keep up with Zeitlupe magazine ..." or "What do you mean by standing still?" - "You're always on the move with Zeitlupe magazine."
At the end of the various short films, there is a packshot of the magazine and the claim: "With Zeitlupe magazine, you always have an overview and benefit from Pro Senectute's knowledge and network." This is followed by a telephone number to order a free copy.
The close symbiosis of image and sound was also important to the makers. This is why the music was composed individually for each commercial. Despite their youthfulness, older people take in the messages somewhat more slowly. The timing of the 20-second spots therefore required "not only a precise visual language, but also a clear time frame", according to Media Station. Sufficient space of over 6 seconds was used for the actual product placement. Before that, up to 12 cuts can be seen in the first 13 seconds. Despite this, the slow-motion commercials do not look like a hectic music clip, but tell a clear story in line with the target group. The films are currently being used on SF 1 and partly also SF 2.

Newspaper bans in Egypt

Egypt has banned individual editions of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) and the French Figaro newspaper due to accusations of insulting Islam.

Egypt has banned individual editions of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) and the French Figaro newspaper due to accusations of insulting Islam.
In the corresponding decree by Egyptian Information Minister Anas al Feki, the newspapers had published articles that denigrated Islam. They claimed that Islam had been spread by the sword and that Mohammed was a preacher of evil. Egyptian officials emphasized that they would no longer tolerate publications that insulted Islam or incited hatred and contempt for any religion. The ban caused a stir because such statements are extremely rare in Egypt.

BaZ Teams Up with New Partners for «Stellefant»

The Basler Zeitung has found two new partners for its job supplement «Stellefant»: the Sissacher Volksstimme and the Neue Fricktaler Zeitung.

The Basler Zeitung (BaZ) has found two new partners for its job supplement. Starting December 1, «Stellefant» will be included with the Sissacher Volksstimme and the Neue Fricktaler Zeitung (NFZ). The three publishers will also be collaborating in the advertising market starting in 2007: As the “Nordwestschweizer Kombi,” they will offer various advertising packages. The advertising business for the various advertising packages will be managed jointly, with the Basler Zeitung assuming overall responsibility for promotion, marketing, and sales promotion activities.
According to BaZ spokesperson Walter Schäfer, there are no plans for further cooperation with the *Volksstimme*, which is published three times a week with a circulation of about 8,000 copies. The BaZ holds a 21 percent minority stake in the NFZ. The NFZ also appears three times a week with a circulation of just under 10,000 copies.

Stellefant, originally launched by the BaZ, had been published jointly with the bz since September 2004. After the bz decided in April to enter into a partnership with the Mittelland Zeitung—which began this month—the BaZ terminated the Stellefant contract with the bz.

The 2.40 m long and 9 kilogram NZZ pencil rocket made its maiden flight at the annual meeting of the Argos (Advanced Rocketry Group of Switzerland) in the Neuchâtel Jura. The reusable rocket was designed by Andreas Müller, mathematician and rocket builder from Altendorf. Last weekend's meeting had to be registered with the Federal Office of Aviation. A permit from Skyguide is required for flights over 2,000 meters.

Swiss Post tests newspaper printing

In addition to its involvement in direct marketing, Swiss Post has now started printing and distributing for newspaper publishers for the first time.

Swiss Post wants to print newspapers in future, reports the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). In addition to its involvement in direct marketing, Swiss Post has now started printing and distributing for newspaper publishers for the first time. A few hundred copies are currently being printed in Zurich for the French-speaking Swiss financial newspaper L'Agéfi, which will then be distributed in the mornings in the German-speaking cantons of Switzerland and also in Ticino. This is a pilot project with which the company wants to test digital newspaper printing and other services for domestic and foreign publishers, explained Swiss Post spokesman Laurent Widmer. This test is important for Swiss Post, as it is assumed that newspapers from Asia or America will also use this service, said Widmer. The print data is transmitted electronically to Swiss Post in the evening and the newspapers are then printed, addressed and sent on a digital machine so that they reach the reader in the morning. Participants at the publishers' conference in St. Moritz have already seen samples.
