Federal government puts "Food Waste" campaign on hold

In order to raise awareness among the Swiss public about the problem of food waste, the federal government planned to launch a campaign to combat «food waste» in 2016. However, due to budget constraints, the project must be put on hold until further notice.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) confirmed a corresponding article in the Tages-Anzeiger and Der Bund newspapers on Wednesday. In Switzerland, around a third of food ends up as waste. Around half of this waste is generated by the end consumer, as a FOEN survey published in 2014 showed. In order to encourage the population to handle food with care, the FOEN set about developing an awareness-raising campaign. This is to last three years and be carried out in collaboration with market partners and civil society. The planned costs amount to six million Swiss francs.

Because the federal government is making savings, the campaign to prevent unnecessary food waste has had to be suspended for the time being. This is despite the fact that consumers are very interested in the issue. A survey of the public conducted by the research institute gfs.bern had
This is because the study showed that the population is aware of the problem of food waste. The study carried out on behalf of the FOEN found that the population is aware of and recognizes the problem. At the same time, consumers do not see themselves as taking relevant action to counteract the problem. The final report of the study was accordingly entitled "Problem recognized, but not anchored". Déformation professionelle - Professional diseases in advertising and marketing

Axel Eckstein, Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett Switzerland, writes in *Werbewoche* about pathological elements in advertising and marketing. In the eleventh episode: *Director’s Cut* (conceptus amputatis).

Description

The director's cut is a deep gash that wounds a film right down to the concept layer. This applies in particular to short-format commercials. The director's cut is to be distinguished from the making-of, in which an intact concept is merely covered by a thick audiovisual scab. Showreels, online communities and film juries are the main areas of distribution for the director's cut.

Causes

Director's cuts are created post-production through jobs that are completed in and of themselves and that a director rubs up against. Their purpose is to demonstrate their skills as an autonomous craftsman without lateral influences from briefings, pre-production meetings or finished broadcast copies. During the incubation period, contact with outstanding story elements leads to trimmings, which together form the actual cut.
Axel Eckstein is Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett Switzerland. He writes about the pathological in advertising and marketing in every Advertising Week.

Symptoms

Abnormal length growth is very frequently observed in the affected films. This is accompanied by focus jumps and white fading. In severe cases, the music layer undergoes a complete metamorphosis. Very rare: the naming of an alternative client brand in the final chart.

Prevention

Effective preventive measures are not yet known. In order to avoid complications, any concept residues that remain in the incision should always be rinsed out completely.

SKS counters postal sticker with its own sticker

The Foundation for Consumer Protection (SKS) counters the campaign initiated by Swiss Post with an "Advertising OK" sticker on the mailbox with its free "Stop Advertising" sticker. The SKS is also sharply critical of Swiss Post's approach.

Around 40'000 postal customers in Bern, Lausanne and Lucerne have received an "Advertising OK" sticker for their letterboxes from Swiss Post, writes the SKS. The aim is to boost business with the delivery of unwanted advertising. After all, if a stop-advertising sticker is attached to the letterbox, the owner is clearly expressing that advertising is unwanted. According to the SKS, postal customers have now received a letter from Swiss Post offering the prospect of receiving samples of goods for the months of July to December. To do this, they should remove the stop-advertising sticker from the letterbox or cover it with the "Advertising OK sticker" provided.

Stone of contention: "Advertising OK!" sticker from Swiss Post

The intention of Swiss Post is obvious, criticizes the SKS in a statement on Tuesday. It hopes that even after the end of this "Müsterli campaign" as many mailboxes as possible will remain receptive to advertising. After all, Swiss Post earns money from every advertising item delivered. The SKS is outraged at the aggressive way in which consumers are being persuaded to accept unsolicited mail. Swiss Post seems unable or unwilling to accept the conscious decision of its customers against superfluous advertising material.

In order to "take countermeasures", the Foundation for Consumer Protection is now launching a sticker exchange campaign: the postal sticker can be sent in with a self-addressed reply envelope or as a photo by e-mail - the SKS will send a "Stop advertising" sticker in return. (SDA/hae)

No broadcasting fee for Liechtenstein radio

Liechtenstein has decided not to introduce a broadcasting fee of 100 francs per household to fund Radio L. As part of an austerity package, the government had planned to eliminate the state subsidy of 1.5 million francs per year and introduce a fee.

Since financing with a national contribution has emerged as the most sensible solution both economically and with regard to the acceptance of a broadcasting fee, the introduction of a broadcasting fee will be waived, the government in Vaduz announced on Tuesday. The relaxation of advertising bans is intended to improve the self-financing level of Radio Liechtenstein (Radio L). In addition, the endowment capital is to be reduced in order to eliminate the loss carried forward by the Liechtenstein Broadcasting Corporation. (SDA)

Springer bundles activities - N24 becomes "Welt

Axel Springer Verlag is consolidating the operations of the Welt Group and plans to rename its television station N24 to Welt in the medium term.

The German media group announced on Tuesday that services and products are to be united under one brand umbrella and will all bear "Welt" in their names in future. This is to take place in stages, with the first step being to harmonize the appearance of N24 and all current offerings of the newspaper Die Welt. However, the company did not specify when it intends to rename the TV channel. Springer bought N24 at the end of 2013 and most recently bundled the channel with the Welt Group in the WeltN24 subsidiary. Meanwhile, Axel Springer and ProSiebenSat.1 are once again flirting with a merger to form a European media giant around ten years after a failed attempt. Insiders told Reuters that the newspaper giant and the TV chain are discussing such a move. (SDA)

Last but not least: Glacé politique

The Economist magazine is handing out free insect ice cream in London. Would you?

The refreshing campaign is - you guessed it - an advertising campaign for the traditional weekly magazine. The aim is not only to win over Käfer Glacé fans, but above all new readers.

Unbenannt-2_84

The aim is to give people an understanding of the magazine's content in a new and unusual way. Already in the Past Economist has tried to make the creepy-crawlies palatable to its readership. And for good reason: there is actually nothing more sensible, because eating insects has nothing but economic and ecological advantages over pigs, cattle and the like. Massive, world-changing advantages. Except perhaps for the insignificant factors of taste and disgust factor. But you can work on that. You can try it. Would you? Or how The Guardian asks: "When it comes to the crunch, however, will Londoners bite?" Mmmmh, crunch... (hae)

Business4you: New web presence for Montana Sport

Montana Sport, the Swiss distributor of the Asics, Onitsuka Tiger, and Haglöfs brands, has commissioned Business4you to conceptualize, design, and program a new website.

The website guides users directly to their destination and primarily scores with three features: consistent user guidance, high user-friendliness and responsive design.

Website_Montana-Sport_1

The sporty web presence, consisting of a retailer web store and website, cuts a fine figure on all devices thanks to its responsive design: on the desktop as well as on the tablet and smartphone. But that's not all. Retailers of the Asics, Onitsuka Tiger and Haglöfs brands distributed by Montana Sport can access the online store integrated into the site at any time. You can also download logos, product images, advertisements, posters or entire campaigns from anywhere in the download area of the website. Due to the large number of retailers from French-speaking Switzerland, the Montana Sport website is also available in a French version.

Website_Montana-Sport_2

For the Web presence of Montana Sport the Biel-based marketing agency for SMEs has taken into account new web trends such as responsive design, sliders and scrolling instead of clicking, as well as integrating interactive animation elements such as mouseover effects. In addition, pictograms have been specially created for the website. Thanks to the latest Apache Solr search technology, the retailer area allows for a lightning-fast full-text search in the downloads. Last but not least, the portraits of the brand ambassadors, nationally and internationally renowned athletes such as Giulia Steingruber and Viktor Röthlin, lend the dynamic website an appealing and personal touch.

TBS & Partner: Cultural Summer Nights

For the eleventh time, TBS & Partner has been commissioned to design the campaign for the Zürcher Theater Spektakel—in 2015, in the form of a dreamlike tribute to the beautiful venue.

In recent years, young artists have developed the campaign theme for the Zürcher Theater Spektakel based on a broadly defined brief. TBS & Partner provided the associative input and implemented the subject across all different media. For the eleventh and final engagement, the Zurich-based communications and design agency developed the subjects itself. And because the creators themselves are enthusiastic visitors to the festival and the memories of past cultural nights are intense and deep in the memory, they set themselves the task of visualizing these memories. Using a kind of digital collage technique, refined nocturnal impressions of the illuminated Landiwiese were created from the wide range of photographs. This is intended to create anticipation for the upcoming Kultursommernächte am See, which this year will take place a week earlier than usual on the open-air and tent stages (Thursday, August 6 to Sunday, August 23, 2015).

Havas Worldwide Zurich: A New World of Banking

Havas Worldwide Zurich created a campaign to launch Credit Suisse's new private banking app.

Credit Suisse is on track for the global and comprehensive digitization of its private banking business. As a milestone, a new, updated banking app for tablet and smartphone was launched on April 7, 2015. In addition to classic banking features (such as account balance overview, credit card spending and payment transactions), the app now also offers enhanced trading functions and an in-depth portfolio overview and insight with a wealth of market and research data. It also features improved usability and state-of-the-art security standards.

In the campaign developed by Havas Worldwide Zurich, each of the five subjects shows people in an everyday or leisure situation using a tablet or smartphone. In each case, three keywords comment on the action in the picture, with the second describing the action being performed with the app. For example, a woman at the hairdresser's "trades" between washing and blow-drying her hair: Wash - Trade - Blow-dry. Or a young woman makes an online payment during a stopover on her bike: Rush hour - online payment - snack. This shows how effortlessly and naturally the use and benefits of the app fit into daily routines. The campaign claim "Credit Suisse Private Banking Switzerland App. Always one step ahead." finally puts the added value of the new digital solution into words. Sven Bänziger is responsible for the photos.

Print ads in commuter newspapers and magazines as well as out-of-home posters ensure high awareness during the summer months. The campaign is supplemented by animated online banners on high-traffic websites as well as posters and flyers in the branch offices.
