Ringier forges alliance with Ticino publishers

Ringier, the Corriere del Ticino, and the Rezzonico publishing house have decided to form a publishing alliance. The goal is to create synergies and opportunities for collaboration in both print and digital media.

The agreement provides for the acquisition of a minority stake of 45 percent in the share capital of Rezzonico SA by Corriere del Ticino, according to a statement on Friday. Ringier AG and Corriere del Ticino, on the other hand, do not have any shareholdings in the share capital.

For some time now, Ringier has been present on the Italian-speaking Swiss market together with Rezzonico as co-publisher of the Sunday newspaper il Caffè. The participation of Corriere del Ticino in Rezzonico favors stronger multimedia cooperation between the three groups on a national level. The aim is to consolidate and strengthen the products of the individual companies in an economic environment characterized by strong change.

Through this agreement, Ringier can also count on multimedia partners in Italian-speaking Switzerland for the development of its products. At the same time, Rezzonico and Corriere del Ticino will have the opportunity to rely on one of Switzerland's biggest publishers for the development and expansion of their projects, especially in the digital sector.

The agreement concerns economic and organizational aspects. The alliance therefore has no influence on the editorial policies of the three parties and on the independence of the respective editorial teams, Ringier assures in the release. Publishing cooperation projects are already being planned and will be worked out in the coming months, it said.

Last but not least: Looking down the tube because of the heat

At these temperatures, even technology reaches its limits. In Strasbourg, the heat over the weekend knocked a television studio out of commission.

The Franco-German channel Arte went off the air for five hours on Saturday. A fire in an electrical control room caused by the heat brought the program broadcast to a complete standstill. The breakdown lasted from seven o'clock in the morning until half past twelve.

It's not the first transmission failure in this hot summer. On Thursday, the program of the Cologne news channel n-tv was interrupted for half an hour. This interruption is presumably also due to the outside temperatures. (sis)

Ringier sells stake in Qualipet Digital

Ringier is selling its 50 percent stake in Qualipet Digital. Given the rapid growth of the business, the pet supply retailer’s digital division is now set to fully merge with Qualipet.

Qualipet.ch was founded four years ago. The specialist pet retailer's digital platform was created in 2011 in collaboration between Ringier and Qualipet. Since then, Qualipet.ch has grown rapidly and continuously and has become the market leader in the Swiss online pet retail sector. Qualipet is also the market leader in the retail business with 88 stores. Rolf Boffa, CEO of Qualipet: "The merger of Qualipet and Qualipet Digital will enable us to serve our customers across all channels - in the e-shop and in the numerous stores - in an integrated manner in future. This is the next growth step in a successful development to which Ringier Digital has made a decisive contribution."

Qualipet Digital's areas of activity include an e-shop as well as a classifieds, service, community and advice section. Qualipet took over the business of Qualipet Digital from Ringier on June 30, 2015. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Contexta: The Bear, not set, but made

Contexta has developed a new brand identity for Brasserie Valaisanne. The relaunch, timed to coincide with the company’s 150th anniversary, demonstrates that Valais provides the ideal environment for exceptional beer specialties.

In 1865 the Brasserie Valaisanne zSittu was founded as the first brewery in the canton of Valais. With its 10-strong team, the brewery is now a reliable and personally run business that is more successful than ever. The Swiss beer market is currently undergoing a major change. The trend towards more gigantic breweries is unbroken and there are now five times as many breweries as there were just 10 years ago. The boom and above all the advance of independent microbreweries are directly linked to the growing demand for craft beer and the trend towards more regionality. In Valais, the best brewers are those who break with the usual conventions and mix the whole of Switzerland with handcrafted, powerful beers that are full of character.

Handwarming with a lot of heart and songs

The bitonig faner local Härkunft liggt uber überall im Trend, but just because äs Biär üs dum Wallis chunt, is nu lange keis bessers Biär. And certainly not "gicraftuts". Hans Joachim Meyer, the man responsible for the brand, explains the unique and characteristic Valaisan way of doing laundry: "Their hardness shapes their character and the way they do things. The environment is harsh and rugged, the people concentrate on their laundry, they are independent, and they cultivate a maximum of happiness, pleasure and cheerfulness. The gruffness, the unique character and the unrestrained freedom are reflected in the Valais brewery punch. "The Valaisans cultivate their original craft with a lot of heart and songfulness," says Meyer. The focus is on the brewing process and its associated quality: beer in the Brasserie Valaisanne is not made by hand, but by hand and with a lot of care. The new claim expresses this bluntly: "We like beer".

Not a reason for a bad beer

The focus was on the communicative implementation of the individual species. Hans Joachim Meyer refers to the striking illustration: "With the new, young appearance, the hardness of information about the Valais is made more tangible and we show various Valaisan characters such as the black-nosed sheep, the Valaisan wolf or the "Tschäggättä", which thanks to the distinctive illustration style of Jon Contino ensures a hand-warming amusement and the necessary attention. Combiniärt wärdunsch mit der eigunt entworfunu Schrift. "Headlines such as 'At last, a style that isn't a fan of style' or 'There's no good reason to break a bad beer' reflect the humor and pride of Valaisans," Meyer continues.

Än Hüch fa Valais apricot

The new market entry includes the poster and its own Websieta öi diverse packaging and POS material. At the same time, the growing trend towards craft beer has inspired Brasserie Valaisanne to come up with two new innovations: "Valaisanne Ämrich Weizu" is a wheat beer that combines fruity apricot milk with hops in a natural way and without any artificial additives. The bizeichnig Ämrich chunt üs the Valais dialect and means the brüehmtu Valais apricot. The second novelty is the "Valaisanne Pale Ale", a fruity-aromatic "Single Hop Pale Ale". In total, the range includes five unique beers. And in every bottle there is an individual and powerful taste, as an expression of the unmistakable Valaisan character.

Serviceplan brings Libertycard to the point

Serviceplan Suisse and Serviceplan Public Relations Suisse developed and implemented a campaign for Bonuscard.ch to mark the Switzerland-wide market launch of the new Visa Libertycard. The campaign highlights the card’s unique dual benefits.

In addition to the benefits of a Visa credit card, the Libertycard offers a bonus program that rewards customers specifically for their mobility. Whether on the road, rail or in the air - with every use, users collect Liberty points that they can exchange for rewards.

The integrated campaign, realized by the advertising agency Serviceplan Suisse, makes this extended benefit visible in three subjects in a striking, attention-grabbing way. While one half of the image shows the world of paid mobility, the other shows the world of rewards. The claim "Being on the road is rewarded." finally dissolves the motifs textually.
The advertising campaign, which consists of advertisements and online banners, is accompanied by a partnership with 20 Minuten, which runs through Serviceplan PR Suisse. The PR agency is also responsible for managing the media office and media relations around the LibertyCard portfolio. The campaign has been on view since June 29.

Last but not least: And hop

An illegally parked taxi got what was coming to it in New York. With so much girl power on display, passersby could only stand there in amazement.

Carlister.co is "the first social platform for buying & selling cars". At first glance, it is difficult to say whether the world has been waiting for this start-up. After all, the car trade has worked pretty well so far without "social". In any case, it can't hurt for the platform to attract some attention. It is doing this - or rather the New York agency Thinkmodo - with the hidden camera. And a stunt that, apart from the involved car, doesn't really have much to do with the product, but is at least nice to look at. And well done. Because the prepared SUV has to be pretty well prepared so that it can be lifted up together with the driver with ease. And last but not least, the reactions of passers-by also look authentic for a change. (hae)

Scout24: New name for marketing division

Scout24 has renamed its in-house marketing department Scout24 Mediaimpact, as the trademark rights to Omnimedia have been transferred to the new owner.

At the beginning of 2015, the marketing activities for the Scout24 platforms were separated from Omnimedia and integrated into Scout24 Switzerland. Since then, the division was still represented on the market with the service brand Omnimedia. Through the recently communicated sale of Omnimedia and its SME business Ontrac from Ringier Digital/KKR to Cleoo Ltd., the brand rights were transferred to the new owner as of July 1. For this reason, the Scout24 marketing division was renamed Mediaimpact. Scout24 Mediaimpact offers individual and customized digital advertising concepts in the areas of desktop, mobile and e-magazine on the online platforms of Scout24 Switzerland (Autoscout24.ch, Motoscout24.ch, Immoscout24.ch, Anibis.ch) as well as on the partner platforms Cash.ch and Ticketcorner.ch.

Diploma ceremony on the "Rösti Bridge

The members of the examination board, representatives of the schools and graduates of the professional examination from German- and French-speaking Switzerland built a bridge across the Röstigraben and celebrated the newly graduated communication planners.

Last Friday at the Théâtre Equilibre, Urs Schneider, president of the examination commission set up by SW Schweizer Werbung and PS Publicité Suisse, and the two examiners Roland Ehrler and Michel Repond handed over the diplomas in the presence of around a hundred people. Equilibre - the name of the theater not only reflects its extraordinary architecture; it is also indicative of the course and outcome of this year's exams, which have shown both pendulum movements and constants.

Exceptional results

In recent years, the French-speaking Swiss had always distinguished themselves with excellent results. This time, however, this was not the case. Fortunately, the German-speaking Swiss counterbalanced this with their exceptional performance, so that in the end 77 percent of all candidates successfully passed the exam. Five graduates even finished with an overall grade of more than 5.0: Stefanie Huber (with a record-breaking average of 5.5), Mirjam Küchler (5.3), Deborah Marzo (5.2), Cynthia Domfe (5.1) and Adrian Widmer (5.1). The sponsors M+K (bouquets of flowers), Faber Castell (writing instruments with engraving), La Liberté (tourist stays) and Publisuisse (iPad) have made the professional certificate of these graduates even more valuable.

Women high on the agenda

For many years, advertisers were mainly men. Today, however, more and more women are asserting themselves in this profession, accounting for 79 percent of the examinees. Fortunately, the proportion of candidates from the French-speaking part of Switzerland has also increased significantly; in 2014, it was only 17 percent, but this year it was already 26 percent. After the official part, those present were able to exchange ideas and network over an aperitif, which was gratefully donated by the other sponsors Bildungszentrum BVS St. Gallen, mediaschneider, SAWI, SWA and touring. They started their journey home richly laden with Fribourgian - meringues from the Gruyère region donated by the TV station M6 - and Lucernean - chocolate souvenirs presented by the KV Lucerne Vocational Academy.
