Res Strehle becomes new president of the Maz

Res Strehle is the new President of Maz, the Swiss School of Journalism in Lucerne. The Maz Board of Trustees elected him today as the successor to Iwan Rickenbacher, who is stepping down at the end of the year after eleven years in office.

Res Strehle is the first journalist to chair the Maz. He can look back on a successful career in journalism spanning more than 30 years - most recently as editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger. He brings experience, integrity and management qualities to the new office. Outgoing President Iwan Rickenbacher: "Res Strehle is a journalist who always aligns his own actions with high standards - something that lecturers and students at the MAZ strive for every day."

His election is a commitment to the Maz's raison d'être, the education and training of journalists. MAZ Director Diego Yanez: "Res Strehle is an ideal choice. He stands for journalism that is geared towards quality and relevance - even in a digital world." Strehle will take up his post on January 1, 2016: "I'm looking forward to this task. Maz is the hotbed of talent in Swiss journalism and has always been an important place for me."

Under Iwan Rickenbacher, who presided over Maz for eleven years, the institution developed into the leading journalism school in Switzerland, according to the press release. At the same time, the second department of communication and rhetoric, which is separate from journalism training, was expanded. Rickenbacher leaves behind a healthy, successfully positioned company that is holding its own in a difficult market environment thanks to these two pillars.

Havas Worldwide for Swiss month: Ad on refugee wave

Havas Worldwide Zurich makes reference to the current wave of refugees with a new motif for the magazine Schweizer Monat.

The award-winning campaign for Swiss Month takes up not only socially relevant, but also explosive, political issues: Mass immigration to Europe still holds the entire continent in suspense and, not least, exerted a major influence on the elections in Switzerland. With the enigmatic subject "asylum such endeavor," the magazine wants to show that it approaches the topics in a differentiated manner, reflects on them and shows them in new contexts.

Switzerland Tourism: New Market Manager Benelux

Switzerland Tourism has appointed Yves Luetolf as the new head of the priority markets of the Netherlands and Belgium/Luxembourg, which are now managed centrally from Amsterdam. He will assume his new position on March 1, 2016.

Within the international ST market portfolio, the BeNeLux countries are of particular importance. With their more than 1.4 million hotel room nights generated annually, they will continue to shape the future of tourism in Switzerland. However, with the removal of the minimum euro exchange rate, the market environment remains extremely challenging. Switzerland Tourism has therefore decided to consolidate the markets in the Netherlands and Belgium / Luxembourg and to handle them centrally in Amsterdam.

Yves Luetolf will succeed Corinne Genoud, the current Country Manager Netherlands, as the new Market Manager Benelux. Genoud left Amsterdam at the end of April 2015 to take over responsibility for ST marketing in the UK and Ireland. On an interim basis, the Netherlands was managed by ST's Director for Western Europe, Gilles Dind.

Luetolf, a 31-year-old business economist, was most recently Global Brand & Marketing Manager at Lafarge Holcim in Zurich, where his responsibilities included brand management for the building materials group. In parallel, he successfully completed an Executive Master of Business Administration program with a focus on strategic marketing. Before that, he had already acquired a profound understanding of marketing in renowned international companies, which he shared as a part-time lecturer with graduates of the Swiss Marketing Academy in Zurich and Berlin. Luetolf speaks fluent Dutch and is proficient in several other languages.

Purchased expensive things that end up just standing around? A wonderful Norwegian campaign knows what to do.

bought-something-stupid

In most cases, buying expensive equipment is not enough to start a new hobby. You would also have to use the products. The classic example is fitness equipment that rusts away unused in the cellar after a short period of initial euphoria. Sports or camera equipment that you finally want to try out as soon as you have time - i.e. never. Instead of being constantly confronted with a guilty conscience, it's better to get rid of the bad purchase. What Ricardo.ch is in Switzerland, Finn.to is in Norway. Try/Apt (cf. "Last but not least" 12.10.2014) has created two striking commercials for the online marketplace. And won gold in the "Film: Consumer Services" category at last week's Epica Awards. (hae)

Spinas: Growing up is not child's play

The Zurich-based agency Spinas Civil Voices is launching a print campaign for Pro Juventute to encourage donations.

Pro Juventute, the largest Swiss children's and youth organization, is itself anything but young. For more than 100 years, it has been supporting young people in their everyday lives and providing them with help and advice in times of need. Millions of children have already been able to count on Pro Juventute's help at some point in their lives, and many of them have been saved from worse and worse as a result. Because the foundation is largely financed by donations and therefore needs a broad public, Pro Juventute is currently launching a print campaign, which has been designed for the first time by the Spinas Civil Voices agency. The focus is on three babies, who are shown in a "Jööh" way the long way from toddler to adult. The aim is to remind the many mothers, fathers, grandparents and godparents in the country about Pro Juventute.
