The German Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media will examine the TV series "Erwachsen auf Probe" for violations of human dignity. The controversial series will soon be broadcast on the German private channel RTL.
The day after the broadcast of the first two episodes, a committee will examine whether "Erwachsen auf Probe" violates human dignity, the KJM announced in Munich on Thursday. It will also examine whether the series has a detrimental effect on the development of children and young people.
For the show, several pairs of parents give up their toddlers to be looked after by pairs of teenage strangers for four days. The reality format is controversial above all because, in the opinion of various experts, the separation from the parents is harmful to the young children.

"Downtown Switzerland": Frank Bodin warns against changing the Zurich slogan

Elmar Ledergerber, former mayor of Zurich and the new president of Zurich Tourism, is no longer satisfied with Zurich’s current slogan, «Downtown Switzerland.» According to *Blick am Abend*, he wants to change the city’s «Heidi, Peter, and cow» image and is therefore looking for a “more urban” slogan. Frank Bodin, however, warns against making a change.

Elmar Ledergerber, former mayor of Zurich and new president of Zürich Tourism, is no longer satisfied with the current Zurich slogan "Downtown Switzerland". He wants to change the Heidi-Peter-Kuh image and is therefore looking for a more "urban" slogan, as can be read in Thursday's edition of Blick am Abend. However, Frank Bodin, reigning Advertiser of the Year and head of the agency Euro RSCG, warns against a change of slogan: "Continuity has a stronger effect than creativity, Downtown Switzerland" has established itself, according to the 2009 Advertiser of the Year. "People immediately think of Zurich when they hear the slogan, even though it is linguistically stupid," he is quoted as saying in the free newspaper. Big brands such as Coca Cola have kept their slogans for decades, which creates identity. It is better to stick with the slogan than to change it again.
"Downtown Switzerland" was designed in 2004 by the Hamburg-based company Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux and replaced the equally controversial slogan "Little Big City" (1996).

The Swiss Advertising Agency has implemented a swimming prevention campaign for various Swiss police forces. The aim is to sensitize swimmers to behave correctly in the water and thus avoid accidents. The visual is something that is normally seen at crime scenes: the figure of the alleged victim framed in chalk.
Classic advertising media such as posters, advertisements, flyers and dispensers are used. On a Campaign website You will also receive tips on how to behave correctly in the water. In addition, as a kind of guerrilla measure, exclusion zone buoys with messages such as "If your swimming cap lights up like mine, then everything is okay" or "You've seen me. But can anyone see you?" were used.
The campaign will run from June to September 2009 and will be used in the cantons of Zurich, Schwyz and St. Gallen, which border Lake Zurich. The campaign was commissioned by the police forces of the city of Zurich and the cantons of Zurich and Schwyz, the Road Traffic and Navigation Office of the canton of St. Gallen, the Navigation Control Office of the canton of Zurich, the Sports Office of the city of Zurich and the Swiss Lifesaving Association SLRG.

Facebook: Total value dropped to ten billion

Russian Internet investors have acquired a stake in the online network Facebook. The Moscow-based company Digital Sky Technologies (DST) has invested $200 million and received preferred stock in return.

Russian internet investors have joined the online network Facebook. The Moscow-based company Digital Sky Technologies (DST) has invested 200 million dollars and received preference shares in return, Facebook announced according to SDA.
The stake of just under two percent results in a projected value of only ten billion dollars. This is significantly lower than the valuation Microsoft made a year and a half ago. In October 2007, the software giant paid 240 million dollars for 1.6 percent of Facebook's preference shares, which would have corresponded to a total value of 15 billion dollars. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said that the current valuation was "fair" in view of the changed economic conditions.
In addition to the two percent of Facebook directly, DST wants to buy ordinary shares from existing Facebook shareholders such as employees for at least 100 million dollars. In this context, Zuckerberg denied that Facebook plans to go public soon. "We'll do it when we're ready. But that won't happen in the short term."

Time Warner separates from AOL

Time Warner, the world's largest media group, wants to definitively separate from its Internet subsidiary AOL. AOL is to become an independent listed company by the end of the year.

Time Warner, the world's largest media group, wants to definitively separate from its Internet subsidiary AOL. AOL is to become an independent listed company by the end of the year. "The separation is another important step in the reorganization of Time Warner," said Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes on Thursday, according to SDA. Time Warner will then be in a better position to focus on its core media content businesses.
AOL has been dead weight for the media giant for years in view of the downturn in the Internet business and the bleak outlook for online advertising. At the end of April, Time Warner officially announced that it was examining a spin-off of AOL. Time Warner and AOL merged in 2001 at the height of the Internet boom. AOL was valued at 165 billion dollars at the time; the deal proved disastrous for Time Warner. AOL made losses, Time Warner had to write off large amounts.
Prior to the separation, Time Warner will increase its stake in the internet service provider from 95 to 100 percent. The remaining 5 percent is still owned by search engine giant Google. Time Warner will acquire these in the third quarter of 2009.
