Walder Werber: Strong new image for Lerch AG

Walder Werber helped Lerch AG launch a new brand identity. The company, which has been family-owned since 1908 and is now run by the fourth generation, has been repositioned.

The new image reflects the company's development from a small locksmith's shop in Zurich to a competence center for laser cutting and metalworking, the advertisers wrote in a press release on Monday. Image advertisements and posters were created to combine the traditional values of the trade with new technologies, as well as a website, brochures and factsheets for the individual competence centers and business stationery.

RTR: New formats, refreshed appearance

Following a trial run last summer, the «Tagesschau für Kinder» will be given a permanent time slot on Romansh television next year. In addition, the station is introducing two new programs and a refreshed look.

In "Tagesschau für Kinder", current affairs are presented in such a way that even primary school children can understand them. Minisguard", as the program is called, is broadcast every Saturday and as a repeat on Sundays. Romansh television will also be portraying a village in Graubünden four times a year in the "Album" format. "Piz a chantun", the third new format, follows on from the first edition last summer, when an RTR team traveled through Graubünden for seven weeks and picked up on stories that do not find a place in the established news programmes.

Refreshed television studio
RTR Director Mariano Tschuor also presented the refreshed décor of the television studio in Chur and the new signets. The Graubünden materials of stone and wood dominate the studio furnishings. The new look is intended to bring the Romansh television broadcasts visually closer to the information programs on Swiss television.

Gently refreshed for 20 minutes

A new font, redesigned lead paragraphs, and more boxes with information and quotes. The commuter newspaper *20 Minuten* was published on Monday with a subtly refreshed layout.

The refreshment is a consequence of the merger of 20 Minutes and Le Matin Bleu in French-speaking Switzerland, as 20 Minuten Managing Director Marcel Kohler and Editor-in-Chief Marco Boselli write in a press release. As part of the merger of the two commuter newspapers, various design features from Le Matin Bleu have been incorporated into the layout of 20 Minutes in addition to editorial elements. This design development is also reflected in the layout of 20 Minuten in German-speaking Switzerland.
The refresh gives the paper a "certain Latin playfulness" without diluting the perception of the newspaper as a national media brand, according to the press release. The gentle redesign was accompanied by designers Mary Jane Fahey from New York and Marianna Ochs from Rio de Janeiro.
The concentration on a commuter newspaper in French-speaking Switzerland is a consequence of the takeover of Edipresse by the Zurich publishing house Tamedia. The new newspaper 20 Minutes will be published at the beginning of 2010 as Le Matin Bleu with two regional editions for Geneva and Vaud. Le Matin Bleu was published for the last time on September 25 after four years.

Swiss Media Ball celebrates its 80th anniversary

More than 500 guests from the worlds of politics, business, and the media attended the anniversary edition of the Swiss Media Ball last Saturday. The charity event was organized by the Zurich Press Association at the Dolder Grand in Zurich.

The proceeds from the Swiss Media Ball, formerly the Zurich Press Ball, go to the international aid organization "Reporters Without Borders", which supports persecuted journalists worldwide, and to the "Zurich Journalism Prize", which is awarded to media professionals for outstanding work. The official guest country was the Principality of Liechtenstein, which wanted to present an emotional and sympathetic image of its neighboring country to the Swiss public. The event was hosted by Bettina Walch, program director of DRS3, and Liechtenstein ski racer Marco Büchel.

Last but not least: "Angi Kebap" - has Ali been sent into retirement?

What on earth is Angela Merkel doing with a kebab skewer? Could it be that APG managed to sign the German Chancellor for a follow-up campaign? Will the poster campaign no longer be run under the name «Ali Kebap,» but instead as «Angi Kebap»?

Far from it. The posters have not been put up in Switzerland or Germany. Instead, the picture of Angela Merkel next to a kebab skewer is on a restaurant in the Ukrainian Black Sea city of Odessa. Is the German politician advertising kebabs in Ukraine or are the subjects intended as an image campaign? No, the photo was taken in June 2008 at a Union summer party in Berlin at the stand of a kebab producer from the capital. However, the Chancellor was not informed about the advertising campaign by the Ukrainian restaurant. Although no one has officially complained, the restaurant operator could of course face trouble. Nevertheless, the advertising campaign has already had an effect: The takeaway is enjoying numerous guests. But let's be honest, the photo does look "nice". However, the Chancellor does not look convinced or enthusiastic.

Walker: TV commercials realized for Richner and Gétaz

The Walker advertising agency has produced humorous TV commercials for Richner and Gétaz. The commercials promote two special offers for couples planning to get married.

The happy couple who get married on November 7 at the Richner branch in Volketswil will receive a new bathroom for free. And the couple who say their vows at the Gétaz showroom in Etoy on November 14 will receive a new kitchen free of charge. To advertise these two special promotions, the Walker advertising agency has realized surprising TV commercials for Richner and Gétaz in addition to radio spots. They show newlyweds enjoying their new kitchen and bathroom respectively.
The spot series was produced by Cobblestone in Hamburg. Guests and participants at the wedding events are guided through the program by radio presenters Hannes Hug (in Volketswil) and Ivan Frésard (in Etoy).

Ogilvy & Mather, in collaboration with Cloudscape, developed a 3D animation for Toblerone's Tobelle.

Toblerone is launching the triangular chocolate treat in a new form: the thin Tobelle variant, which has been available in Switzerland since the fall. A light-heartedness that is also expressed in the communication, according to a press release from the agency. With a 3D animation that stages the lightness of the bars as wings that fit harmoniously into the TV commercial.
The young 3D artists from Cloudscape, a team from Zurich that already caused a stir with the domestic science fiction film "Cargo", were hired to ensure that the realization was also "on point".
The TV spot has been broadcast nationally since mid-October.

Head of Sport Walter de Gregorio leaves Blick and Sonntagsblick

The employment relationship will not be extended by mutual agreement after the two-year phase of the new concept, as Ringier announced on Friday evening.

On January 1, 2008, Walter De Gregorio took over the two-year phase of redesigning the sports section of Blick and Sonntagsblick. During these two years, Walter de Gregorio successfully implemented both conceptual and personnel changes. The work on the relaunch of Blick Sport was also supervised by Walter De Gregorio and has now been completed. Ringier and Walter De Gregorio have now mutually agreed to discontinue their collaboration, as Ringier announced on Friday evening. The publishing house does not wish to provide any information about the reasons. Ringier does not want to give any details, said spokesman Stefan Hackh at the request of SDA.
"The Blick Group's sports section is now where we planned it to be two years ago. This is thanks to Walter De Gregorio. I would like to thank him for this", says Ringier Switzerland boss Marc Walder. Patrick Mäder and Ernst Kindhauser will head the Blick Group's sports editorial team on an interim basis with immediate effect.

Microsoft and Yahoo continue negotiations

Microsoft and Yahoo are apparently still negotiating the details of their web search partnership, which was agreed upon back in July. The deadline for the negotiations has now been extended.

In July, they had initially agreed to clarify the specific details of their planned cooperation by October 27, 2009. In the meantime, however, it has become clear that more time is needed to clarify the final points due to the complexity of the cooperation, Yahoo said in a statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
