The restructuring process will be initiated at the beginning of November and completed in spring 2010. A social plan has been drawn up for the employees affected by the job cuts. APG very much regrets the job cuts, according to a press release issued on Monday. At the same time, the company is convinced that the new structures will ensure its future competitiveness even in a volatile environment. With this adjustment, the company is responding to the ongoing crisis in the advertising market and the cautious expectations for 2010. The previous branch areas will be merged into four regions: West, Central, East and South. Each region will now be headed by a Regional Head of Sales and a Regional Head of Acquisitions. With the exception of the South region, where both areas of responsibility will be bundled under one regional manager.
Federal Court: UBI complaint against Rundschau confirmed

The "Rundschau" report of April 2, 2008 reported on the case of a child who was placed with two foster mothers who worked in the sex trade in 1996 and 1999. The report criticized the procedure and the results of a supervisory investigation by the Guardianship Chamber of the High Court of Aargau. This had come to the conclusion that the two foster placements were neither improper nor illegal. Following an appeal by the President of the Guardianship Chamber, the UBI concluded in 2008 that the contribution had violated the principle of fairness. The Reproach of the UBI The Lausanne judges found that the reporting was incomplete and one-sided in key respects. However, this was not a blatant example of a breach of journalistic due diligence, but rather a borderline case.

Last but not least: SFLB attracts tourists with the romance of mountain huts
The Swiss tourism industry has to come up with something to counteract the historic slump. Now Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett are heating things up with a commercial and plenty of mountain hut romance.

At the heart of the winter campaign is the mountain hut "as an oasis of hospitality". To get holidaymakers excited about them, Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett and director Michael Fueter shot a commercial above Lenzerheide, which shows what local hut wardens do to make guests feel at home in the mountain huts: they quickly polish the antlers, test the fondue forks for sharpness and fill the avalanche dog's barrel with schnapps. The bearded men even trim their hair and pluck their eyebrows for the tourists! As the guests approach, the radio is switched to country music, so nothing can go wrong...
The commercial is being shown in Switzerland, as well as in German and English cinemas and on TV channels in Holland, France, Italy, Spain and Russia. The rustic hut and its equally rustic hut wardens can also be seen on MySwitzerland.com and various national and international online portals. Various other online and print productions have also been realized.

Director Ivan Engler is communicator of the month
Swiss director Ivan Engler was named «Communicator of the Month» by the Swiss advertising association SW. His debut film, “Cargo,” won over critics and made waves all the way to Hollywood.

"Cargo" is a truly remarkable work, writes Piero Schäfer from SW in a press release on Monday. Viewers and critics are particularly impressed by the overwhelming look and sound costume of the film. You really feel like you're in a spaceship. The 38-year-old from Winterthur spent over a year working with designer Matthias Noger to virtually create his space station on the computer. "It is this sophisticated and meticulous style that has even met with a positive response and great interest from professionals in Hollywood," he continues. The Swiss director receives inquiries from producers almost daily. The industry interest is understandable when you know that Engler only had three million francs at his disposal for the realization of his work.
Only a few young people use the e-book
Currently, 11 percent of people in Switzerland use e-books. Surprisingly, the largest group of non-users consists of young people between the ages of 14 and 19, who are generally considered tech-savvy.

As a study by the online market research institute Marketagent.com shows, however, the high proportion of non-users among young people cannot be explained by the fact that young people no longer read. In fact, the proportion of non-readers in this age group was no higher than in other age groups. As the study further shows, e-books are widely known in Switzerland (74 percent). Thirty-six percent of current non-users can imagine reading e-books, but for nearly half, this option is not really an option or is out of the question. The traditional book, therefore, has not had its day. As part of the study, approximately 500 people between the ages of 14 and 59 were surveyed in Switzerland in October.
