Publicis: Helping business travelers for Zurich

Publicis has developed a marketing and stand concept for the finance and insurance company Zurich. The aim is to bring Zurich HelpPoint's services to life at international airports.

At special terminals, business people are offered a variety of assistance services on site: a charger for their cell phone or computer, printing facilities for a presentation, important emergency numbers, hotel reservations or something to drink. At the same time, travelers can find out at the terminal what other services Zurich HelpPoint has to offer. For example, the new Nomadz application for Blackberrys: this uses travel bookings, GPS and assisted GPS (active data transmission via the mobile network) to determine which risks are relevant for the user in question and which have an impact on travel plans. The program also has an emergency button that the user can use to make an emergency call, which automatically transmits all important user information such as name and location to an emergency service.

BG Informatik: Matching addresses for direct marketing

The address is considered a key element in direct marketing. The BG Penetration Club offers members the opportunity to analyze target addresses in terms of microspecific market saturation and the temporal dimension.

In some sectors, there is a steady increase in starred entries in the telephone directory, entries in the Robinson list of the Swiss Direct Marketing Association and "no advertising" stickers, which makes it more difficult to obtain new leads. Intensive market cultivation can also result in different market participants processing a share of addresses in the direct marketing campaign at the same time, which can lead to recipients feeling harassed. In order to prevent this, the BG Penetration Club offers members the opportunity to have the specific load and time dimension of their addresses checked for upcoming campaigns for a fee. BG Informatik flags the addresses of private individuals or companies that are already being processed by a competitor. The addresses in question can then be removed in advance - or targeted. In return, members undertake to send their addresses to the club unsolicited and at the same time and to inform the club of the time period, the type of campaign and the industry concerned.

Ogilvy & Mather: Bankers subjected to a knowledge test

IBM subjected Swiss bankers to a knowledge test at the Finance Forum 2009. The test, developed by Ogilvy and Mather in collaboration with the Swiss Banking Institute at the University of Zurich and Ogilvy Interactive, shows how much know-how there is in the Swiss banking center.

The aim of the test was to establish contacts between IBM and the financial sector. PR reports and web banners provided information about the upcoming knowledge test in advance. Existing IBM customers also received personal invitations. Those who were unable to attend the event had the opportunity to follow the live broadcast of the latest results on the business platform Moneycab.ch. With 227 participants, almost one in ten visitors completed the test. The result: one participant achieved the maximum score of 150, the average was 81.

Zweifel Pomy Chips will continue to be represented creatively by the media agency Initiative. The agency won the media account, which had been put out to bid, following a competitive pitch.

Initiative is very proud to be able to continue cultivating the relationship it has built up with Zweifel over the past 16 years, the agency announced in a press release on Monday. Last but not least: Tiger Woods - now even more authentic for Gillette

The rumors surrounding golfer Tiger Woods« scandal-ridden personal life aren’t exactly good for his image. But what about the reputation of the Gillette brand, for which Woods has served as a brand ambassador since 2007 as a »Gillette Champion” alongside Roger Federer and Thierry Henry? Is the golfer still a good figurehead?

Now more than ever! After the scandals, Gillette now has a "real" personality in Tiger Woods, a brand expert told the trade magazine Advertising Age. Tiger Woods has therefore become more authentic - "real people doing real things". What's more, Tiger Woods lives a lifestyle that many men can only dream of. If anything, Roger Federer should be kicked off the team. He can't hold a candle to Tiger Woods in this respect. The only sin of the new father is to have cried in public. How is he supposed to fit into the razor blade manufacturer's concept? After all, it's not about baby powder!

NZZ: Partnership with Publicitas extended

The NZZ Media Group remains loyal to the advertising agency Publicitas. The two companies have extended all existing marketing contracts for the NZZ Media Group’s print media in Zurich, St. Gallen, and Lucerne for several years.

The NZZ Media Group decided to do this after a comprehensive analysis and redesign of its marketing models, according to a joint press release issued on Monday. Publicitas will expand the marketing structures for the titles of the NZZ Media Group and invest significant resources in digitized workflows in the coming years. For Publicitas, this decision is groundbreaking in the implementation of the new business model.
Publicitas is under pressure because publishers are considering taking over advertising acquisition themselves again. After Edipresse in French-speaking Switzerland, the AZ Medien Group in Aargau also terminated its management contract with Publicitas in August. Publicitas is cutting branches and jobs as a result. On Friday, the company announced that Beat Roschlin would be taking over from Robert Schmidli.

Imprint and Comedia on the discontinuation of News - Tamedia's fight against crowding out fruitful - journalists fall by the wayside

After Tamedia announced on Friday that the commuter newspaper *News* would be discontinued effective immediately, *Impressum* and *Comedia* have now commented on the consequences. *Impressum* is calling on Tamedia to act with social responsibility and—compared to the social plan—to extend the notice periods.

"After Tamedia successfully ousted the commuter newspaper Le Matin bleu from the market with 20 minutes in French-speaking Switzerland and immediately swallowed it up, and after the skirmishes the freelance and salaried journalists fell by the wayside, Tamedia is now unceremoniously discontinuing News after News ousted the commuter newspaper .ch from the market - and this at the editorial team's Christmas dinner," writes Impressum in a press release. Since the launch of News, it has been speculated that its main purpose was to oust the then new commuter newspaper .ch from the market. The journalists were only hired to take the wind out of the sails of the competition, Impressum continued. What this meant for the employees did not seem to concern the company management.
Now the editors are threatened with being sent out onto the street in the middle of the crisis, when there are simply no more surplus jobs for journalists. Comedia regrets this decision in a press release and is also relieved that Tamedia
at the same time announces that the social plan for Tages-Anzeiger and Druckzentrum negotiated in June 2009 with employee representatives and the media trade union Comedia and the professional association Impressum will apply to all those affected. In addition, the company management will be taken at its word that News employees will be given first priority when new positions are filled at Tamedia.
should be taken into account. Impressum calls on Tamedia to assume its social responsibility and to consistently avoid hardship. Due to the even tougher labor market, longer notice periods should be applied than those provided for in the recently negotiated social plan.

Last but not least: Work ban for foreign media in Tehran announced by text message

Journalists are regularly arrested in Iran, prison sentences are handed down, and persecution by the Iranian government forces media representatives critical of the regime to flee the country. Following the controversial presidential elections, the country even ranks first on Reporters Without Borders’ list of the world’s worst jailers of journalists. Now, the Iranian leadership is employing another tactic: a ban on foreign media operations was announced via text message.

The Iranian leadership banned foreign media representatives from working in the city center for three days on Saturday. This is intended to prevent reporting on new protests, which will begin in
Monday for the Students' Day. On Saturday, the Ministry of Culture informed all foreign editors and press photographers by text message that their work permits in the city center would be temporarily suspended from December 7 to 9.
According to SDA, calls for rallies and protests against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had already been spread on various student and opposition websites and social networks.
