Press Council: More controversy and depth desired

The Press Council would like to see more controversial topics and discussions on the program «Sportlounge.» According to the Press Council, the series «My God. Your God. No God» on “Sternstunde Religion” is a commendable project, but it needs to be continued.

Swiss television needs a sports background program like the "Sportlounge". However, the new program still needs to develop, says the Press Council. It would like to see more controversial topics and discussions. Despite efforts to cover a variety of topics, football would still dominate. The presenters should clearly take a more critical stance. However, they are generally perceived by the Council as confident and motivated.
The Press Council rated the combination of documentary film and subsequent interview as good. However, this still needs to be deepened. The Council believes that the project needs to be continued. The expanded focus of the series was well received. The examination of the question of where people are religiously at home today is important, topical and interesting. However, the time limit of 30 minutes is an obstacle to documenting a religion in depth.

Uniplan designs "House of Switzerland Canada 2010

Following the collaboration at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Uniplan is once again working for Switzerland. Presence Switzerland" has now awarded the agency the contract to design the "House of Switzerland" at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada.

In the middle of the two centers of the winter sports event 2010, Vancouver and Whistler, the official Swiss guest house presents itself in a double version. In cooperation with "Presence Switzerland", the team around Managing Director Guido Maurer conceived and realized the exterior and interior design of the "House of Switzerland Canada 2010", which is housed in the restaurants and Mountain Club that were specially converted for this purpose.
As Switzerland's official guest house open to the public, the "House of Switzerland" offers its guests and partners Swiss flair in various facets at both locations. From February 5 to 28, 2010, it will be the meeting place for live broadcasts of the competitions and will be used for receptions, customer care, media conferences and medal celebrations.

Star TV in 1st place in the "Three Media Team" ranking

The continuous optimization of advertising block placements and rigorous monitoring of the price structure at Star TV is bearing fruit. "We are very pleased that we can guarantee our customers a high level of planning security," says Jean-Claude Bruhin, COO of Star TV. On the one hand, the result is based on the optimization of advertising block broadcasts. However, every effort is also being made to increase the attention given to the commercials and, in addition to the SMS competition, a new "Eye-catcher" section has been introduced in which one commercial is specially highlighted each day. Despite the good results, Star TV has calculated the pricing for the coming six months on the same basis and has therefore not planned any price increase.
The program offensive will continue in the coming year. In addition to the ongoing expansion of the successful live events in primetime, the new political magazine show "CC-Talk" will be launched this New Year's Eve with presenters Claudio Zanetti and Christoph Romer. In this program, the discussion participants are not live in the studio, but are connected to the program via video conference depending on the topic. At the end of January, Star TV will also launch the cooking show "Hiltl kocht", which focuses on healthy and sustainable nutrition.

Companies reduce PR budgets in 2010

More than a quarter of Swiss companies are likely to have to make do with smaller PR budgets in 2010 compared with this year.

Around two thirds of companies will have the same budget next year as in 2009, while less than 10 percent of companies have a higher budget than this year. This is the result of a non-representative survey conducted by the communications agency Frey Communications among the communications managers of 60 large Swiss companies and associations.
The Frey Communications Report, conducted for the fourth time, also shows that two thirds of the companies surveyed work with PR agencies. Compared to the previous year, it is noticeable that PR agencies are increasingly being used to generate PR topics. One possible explanation is that companies want to remain present in the media via PR in times of tight advertising budgets.

Jung von Matt/Limmat: It böckelet even in winter

Gian and Giacen, Graubünden’s talking ibexes, remain active in Lenzerheide even in winter.

After demonizing the fog, insulting bikers and listing almost everything the canton has to offer, they are now promoting the winter sports region of Lenzerheide. The two stand on a snow-covered hill and evaluate the jumps of skiers and snowboarders without being asked and according to completely subjective standards. Why Giacen is eating snow all the time, however, remains a mystery.
With the spot, the Graubünden regional brand and the Lenzerheide vacation region are promoting the winter paradise of Lenzerheide and its special offer with immediate effect.

Last but not least: Google Street View near Ratingen not for free

Ratingen wants mileage allowance for Google Street View. This was decided by the Ratingen city council with a majority vote.

Will Google have to pay for Street View after all? Following a number of complaints about data protection against the internet company, the Ratingen city council has now decided to charge the internet company 20 euros for every kilometer photographed. As it is not legally possible to prevent Google from photographing streets, the city is demanding a "special usage fee", similar to that charged for market stalls. This was announced by a spokesperson on Wednesday. This means that the internet company Google would have to pay the city of Ratingen near Düsseldorf a fee of 6180 euros for its 309 kilometers of municipal roads. However, the company rejected the claims on the grounds that the photographs for Street View were taken during regular road traffic. The drivers of the vehicles used to take the photos complied with the applicable road traffic regulations, said Lena Wagner, press spokeswoman for Google Germany, according to Zeit.de. As the vehicles were moving in regular road traffic within the framework of so-called public use and did not obstruct it, there was no special use.

SRG supports gift campaign "2 x Christmas

Giving Christmas abundance to people living on the dark side of society: This is the idea behind the "2 x Christmas" gift campaign by SRG, Swiss Post and the Swiss Red Cross.

From school supplies to hygiene articles and shoes - from December 24, donors can send gift packages for the needy postage free. They will be distributed in Moldova, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus and Switzerland. This is the 13th year of the gift campaign, which runs from December 24, 2009 to January 9, 2010.
Those who shy away from going to a post office can also donate online, as the organizations announced on Thursday. On the website www.2xweihnachten.ch virtual parcels can be purchased; the organizations then buy the ordered goods themselves. These online donations are possible until January 31, 2010.
We are particularly looking for non-perishable food, hygiene articles, items for small children, new shoes and school supplies. Volunteers then sort the contents of the parcels at the Red Cross. Cantonal and national Red Cross organizations are responsible for distributing the packages to those in need.
