Draftfcb/Lowe Group campaign: Oversized Christmas greetings on Google Maps

The Draftfcb/Lowe team wrote a Christmas card while jogging. The employees overcame a few obstacles to do so.

Draftfcb/Lowe has come up with something very special for this year's Christmas greetings: The team from the advertising agency set off in the cold winter weather for their customers. Everyone covered a precisely planned route, which was registered and recorded by a GPS receiver. The purpose of the campaign can only be seen from a bird's eye view in Google Maps: On the aerial view over Zurich, the route covered forms the Christmas greeting "MERRY X-MAS" in huge letters. The final point is the statement: "We give our all. Also in the New Year."
For the campaign, the performers had to overcome many an obstacle, such as swimming through the Limmat, sliding across the Dolder artificial ice rink or running past thorn bushes in dark forests. For Draftfcb/Lowe, the campaign is also a symbol of the agency's work philosophy with the motto "Return on ideas", the agency said in a press release. The interdisciplinary collaboration of many specialists with a single clear goal in mind brings countable results for clients. But it also demonstrates the willingness of the entire team to go the extra mile for clients - and even to go the extra mile at top speed in their free time if necessary.
Responsible at Draftfcb/Lowe: Sebastian Hugelshofer (AD), Roy Spring (text), Daniel Comte (CD), Eric Andraeae (director), Lorenz Merz (camera). Online: Daniel Tschanz, Future Connection. Interactive planning: Sarah Dovlo. Consulting: Rolf Jeger. Production: TPC/Michael Wentzel. Music: SpaceTrain. Sound design: Daniel Hobi. JingleBells: JingleJungle. Swiss Post and trade unions agree on CLA

Swiss Post and the unions Kommunikation, Transfair, and Comedia have reached an agreement on a collective bargaining agreement for early-morning newspaper delivery. The approximately 10,000 employees of Presto Presse-Vertrieb will be covered by the collective bargaining agreement.

Presto is a subsidiary of Swiss Post in which the early delivery organizations acquired from Tamedia and NZZ have been merged. With the CLA, the employees are now part of a collective agreement based on social partnership. Swiss Post writes this in a press release. The CLA comes into force on March 1, 2010.
The Presto CLA restructures the early newspaper delivery sector, which until now has been poorly regulated under labor law and where employees usually only work one to two hours a day. The CLA negotiated between the four parties brings tangible improvements in social security for early delivery staff. For example, employees who are unable to work due to illness are entitled to 80 percent of the average wage for two years. Employees who work less than eight hours a week are now also insured for non-occupational accidents. Employees who meet the relevant legal requirements will also be admitted to the Swiss Post pension fund.
Furthermore, social partnership involvement in the annual wage measures is regulated. The CLA was concluded for a period of three years, and the contracting parties will conduct negotiations on its renewal in good time before it expires. The CEC applies to all employees working in early delivery. The management, executives and administrative staff of Presto Presse-Vertriebs are not subject to this CLA.

My Sign designs the world's largest greetings card for Alpiq

My Sign has launched a new record attempt for Swiss-Ski's association sponsor. The agency created the world's largest greeting card for Alpiq.

At the end of January, a 63 x 43 meter large and almost one-tonne heavy canvas will be hung on the dam wall of Lac de Cleuson in the 4Vallées ski area (Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon, Verbier). To be found on it: Almost 10,000 greetings from snow sports fans. The greetings come from the Fanpower.ch website. Around 10,000 fans can enter their personal message to the athletes there, giving them the necessary impetus for the current season. In addition to this campaign, there is also other attractive content such as web TV background reports produced by Imotions Film & Media and video blogs by the athletes as well as news about the current season.
To draw the attention of snow sports and bobsleigh fans to the congratulatory campaign, the Olten-based agency relied on print advertisements, banner ads and intensive PR work in collaboration with the agency By the Way Communications. And, of course, a Facebook page, which attracted almost 2,000 fans within a few days, who were subsequently the first to be immortalized on the banner.
As the crowning glory of the campaign, all participants can purchase their part of the canvas, which has been transformed into a stylish shopping bag, at cost price via the website

Facing: Branding of a new French wine line

Facing was commissioned to develop a brand for French wines and to design an entire wine line. Facing has also designed labels for various other wines.

Based on the brand positioning, Facing defined various search fields and came up with over 300 name suggestions. The new line is called "Collection Royale" and will be launched on the market with one Beaujolais and one Côtes du Rhône as well as two Bordeaux wines. The line will be supplemented with other specialties in the future, the agency said in a press release.
In keeping with the chosen name, the French royal world was examined more closely. Various elements from this period served as the basis for the development of the brand icon. Finally, the bust of Louis XIV was illustrated and used as a medal-like icon - combined with a gold embossed print. The royal blue base color gives the label the desired noble appearance.
The respective wine type designations are shown in an additional label below the brand icon
attached. In this way, any number of wines can be included in this line.

Mediafocus November: Less Advertising Pressure Despite the Holiday Shopping Season

Advertising markets continued to decline in November. Despite extensive advertising for energy products and various food items in the run-up to the Christmas holidays, advertising volume fell by 2.1 percent compared to the previous month.

Television advertising increased by 19.5% year-on-year, overtaking the advertising pressure of the daily, weekly and monthly press, as it did in October. This was announced by the market research company Media Focus on Friday, which wrote that this amounted to a "historic changing of the guard in advertising".
Advertising pressure in the year to date up to November amounted to CHF 3.63 billion, 5% lower than in the same period last year. The biggest advertisers were Migros, cosmetics giant L'Oréal and Coop.

Street View: Google reaches agreement with data protection authorities

On Wednesday, Google reached an agreement with Hanspeter Thür, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (EDÖB), in connection with the EDÖB's lawsuit against Google Street View.

Google and the FDPIC have reached the following agreement with regard to the precautionary measures requested in the context of this complaint:
- Google agrees not to display any further images taken in Switzerland for Street View in its Street View online service or as part of other products on the Internet until the Federal Administrative Court has issued a final judgment.
- Google undertakes to accept a final judgment of the Federal Administrative Court in the present case and to apply it to the photographs of Switzerland taken for Street View, if and insofar as the judgment so requires.
- Google is also entitled to continue to carry out camera tours in Switzerland. In view of the subsequent outcome of the court proceedings, these are carried out at the user's own risk. These camera images will not be posted on the Internet as defined in section 1 and will remain within the Google Group until the Federal Administrative Court has made its decision and may only be used for non-personal purposes and products.
- Instead of the previous monthly interval, Google will inform users online at least one week in advance in which districts or in the vicinity of which cities photographs are planned for further camera trips in public spaces.
- The FDPIC therefore considers the objectives pursued by the requested precautionary measures to be fulfilled, which is why the corresponding applications for measures to the Federal Administrative Court have been withdrawn.
- The legal positions of the parties in the pending main proceedings remain unaffected by this agreement.
According to Peter Fleischer, Google's data protection officer, the company is pleased to have reached an agreement with Hanspeter Thür, under which photographs can continue to be taken for Street View. However, no additional images will be uploaded until the Federal Administrative Court has made its decision.

SFLB: "Give flowers instead".

People who haven't bought a gift for their loved ones just a few days before Christmas usually end up buying the wrong one. Fleurop is capitalizing on this very fact a few days before Christmas with a Christmas promotion from SFLB.

Unwary shoppers are told on posters around department stores that it is better to give flowers. The same message is also being spread via sandwich men in city centers, in advertisements in 20 Minuten and online.
