Future Connection: Poster series for Gasser and Partner

Future Connection conceived, designed, and produced a series of posters for Gasser und Partner, a trust and real estate specialist. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the Meilen-based company and its services, particularly in the Gold Coast region, and to highlight the benefits of its proximity to the area.

The five different posters do not use images and are primarily intended to make a convincing point. The series was launched with a poster on the subject of "Fiduciary services", the one on "Real estate sales" is currently hanging, followed in March by a poster on the subject of "Tax returns". The new posters are not the first work that the communications agency has realized for its client. Last year, the corporate design of the trust and real estate company was completely overhauled and the stationery and website were redesigned.

SDA: Offices in Neuchâtel and Fribourg to be closed

The Swiss News Agency (SDA) is implementing the cost-cutting measures it announced in November 2009. The regional newsrooms in Neuchâtel and Fribourg will be closed. Operations will be consolidated at the Biel location.

SDA must save a total of two million francs by the end of 2010. In French-speaking Switzerland, it was previously unclear which offices would be affected by the closure. The decision has now been made, as the SDA management announced on Tuesday. In addition to Neuchâtel and Fribourg, SDA will also be closing its office in Frauenfeld in German-speaking Switzerland in the course of 2010. In Frauenfeld, one position with two people is affected, in Neuchâtel it is one position with one person. The SDA correspondent in Fribourg is now working at the head office in Bern. The relocation will ensure reporting from all affected regions, the agency wrote in a press release on Tuesday.

Wunderman: Conquering the cost mountains with Microsoft

Microsoft commissioned Wunderman to create a direct mail campaign. The goal was to draw recipients' attention to the optimized data center solutions.

The direct mailing is intended to emphasize the cost benefits of Microsoft not only in terms of content, but also visually - with a cost mountain that recipients can reduce themselves. The target group will also find detailed information in the enclosed personalized brochure. Many of the 500 decision-makers in the IT sector who were contacted are currently seeking advice from a Microsoft specialist, the advertisers said in a press release on Tuesday.

Belgian agencies strike for more fairness

Led by the ACC (Association of Communication Companies), Belgium's largest advertising agencies have gone on a collective strike. Their websites have been replaced by a kind of virtual chain letter.

Clicking on Saatchi.be, for example, takes you to the homepage of a manifesto that speaks out against the usual pitch manners of large clients. The letter continues on the pages of the other agencies. Networks such as Saatchi & Saatchi and BBDO as well as owner-managed agencies such as Punta Linea and Famous have taken part in the campaign, as the industry service Horizont reports. The aim is to encourage agencies and clients to reflect and, in particular, to persuade communication service providers to behave more fairly in pitches and not to get involved in competitive presentations in which more than three agencies have to compete against each other.

SFLB: Global trade at the poker table

Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett has launched a new campaign for the development organization «Brot für alle/Fastenopfer.» The campaign draws attention to the unequal distribution of food by depicting a poker game in which food items are passed around like poker chips.

The aim is also to arouse people's interest in using the website Rechtaufnahrung.ch to visit. The campaign can be seen on TV, on posters, in advertisements and on the Internet from mid-February.

Wirz Corporate: New trade fair presence for fiduciary associations

Wirz Corporate has designed a new, modular exhibition booth for the «KV-Lehre Treuhand/Immobilien» organizing body. The goal was to draw attention to career opportunities as a trust and real estate clerk through a presentation tailored to young people.

To this end, Wirz Corporate designed the stand for the three industry associations Swiss Real Estate Association (SVIT), Swiss Fiduciary Association Treuhand Suisse and Organization for Basic Commercial Training in Fiduciary/Real Estate (OKGT) as a place to discover and spend time. Thematic islands were created where interested parties could gather information on the respective activities themselves. Two short films made especially for the fair visualized the apprenticeship based on a typical working day of an apprentice. An interactive quiz encouraged visitors to test their own knowledge. The stand will be used at the three careers fairs in Zurich, Bern and Lucerne.

Last but not least: I'm a rat - Get me out of here!

Eating insects, letting giant spiders crawl all over them, or taking on cockroaches—the fact that people on the reality TV show «I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!» do disgusting things and subject themselves to torment doesn’t cause an uproar anywhere. No one seems to care about the well-being of the insects. But when it comes to rats, the fun definitely stops. The British TV network ITV has now learned this the hard way.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the TV station had to pay around 3,000 francs because a few guests had killed and eaten a rat in the aforementioned format; another one of the funny tests of courage that are presumably intended to increase viewing figures. The scene was definitely a violation of animal welfare. Apparently it took 90 seconds for the poor animal to die. ITV has apologized for the action and promised that this will not happen again. That's a good thing. After all, the poor animal - unlike the B and C-list celebrities - couldn't choose to be part of the show.

RSI: Enough coverage of Graubünden

Italian-language radio and television (RSI) provide sufficient coverage of events in the canton of Graubünden. This is the conclusion reached by the regional broadcaster Corsi. It rejects allegations from the canton of Graubünden as unfounded.

The ball is now in the court of the Federal Office of Communications. It must decide on a 63-page supervisory complaint submitted at the end of September by the Graubünden government and four private individuals. From Graubünden's point of view, RSI is not fulfilling its licensing mandate. The content coverage of the Italian-speaking valleys of Graubünden is inadequate. To substantiate its claim, Graubünden monitored RSI broadcasts for three years.
Corsi rejects these accusations in a statement. The events in Graubünden are reported sufficiently in the form of local and regional news. RSI is fulfilling its licensing mandate, it said in a communiqué on Tuesday. If RSI were to devote even more information programs to Graubünden topics, it would come into conflict with the Radio and Television Act. This states that the SRG is not permitted to broadcast regional programs, according to Corsi.

Spotlight Festival: More commercials than last year

With a total of 211 submitted spots, the 13th Spotlight International Advertising Film Festival defied the crisis. Compared to the previous year, it even recorded a slight increase.

The festival, at which the audience jury will also select its favorites in parallel to the presentation of the professional jury awards, will take place on March 4 and 5, 2010 at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim.
