Gourmedia launches shopping magazine

After "Go out!", Gourmedia Verlag is now launching the lifestyle guide "Zürich shops!" The first edition will be published in fall 2010.

The shopping magazine is primarily intended for people who are looking for something special, according to a press release from the publisher. As with the "Geht aus!" magazines, "Zürich kauft ein!" will only include suppliers that have been personally visited and tested beforehand. The publication is guaranteed not to be a PR booklet, Gourmedia's managing director is quoted as saying in the press release. The added value for consumers is clearly in the foreground. At the same time, the guide is also intended as a platform for business owners and brands to present themselves to a discerning clientele in a sophisticated setting.

Walt Disney benefits from recovery in the advertising market

Walt Disney exceeded market expectations in the first quarter thanks to a recovery in the advertising market. The US entertainment group once again benefited from its strong television business around Christmas.

According to SDA, turnover in the first quarter of the financial year, which ended at the beginning of January, rose by 1% to 9.7 billion dollars compared to the same period last year. The bottom line profit stagnated at 844 million dollars. It was burdened by the costs of restructuring the Group. In addition, investments generated less money.
Advertising revenues had increased significantly, said CFO Ray Rasulo on Tuesday after the close of the US stock exchange in Burbank, California. Cinema films also met the public's taste. The film studios emerged from the red figures into which they had slipped in the summer.

Will Kilchsperger soon be hosting a safe show?

The Dutch show «Kies de Kluis – Crack the Safe» could be the successor to «Deal or No Deal.» This is according to reports in the latest issues of the TV magazines Tele and TV-Star.

The TV magazines know that SF wants to buy another format from Holland and bring it to Switzerland. In addition, the show offers a clever mix of game and quiz format, with a focus on knowledge and skill. Just the right thing for the higher quality demands of the new SF director Ueli Haldimann. According to Tele and TV star Roman Kilchsperger is the favorite to host the show, but Reto Scherrer, Nik Hartmann and Mona Vetsch also have outsider chances.

Media Sales-Publicitas: Two new management positions created

Publicitas is creating two new management positions: The new logistics unit, which was previously announced, will be led by Christian Rohrbach, while Markus Bieri will assume the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO).

The new management structure will be adjusted when the announced new CEO of Media Sales-Publicitas, Beat Roeschlin, takes office on May 1, 2010, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. The newly created logistics unit in the Media Sales business segment, which will offer media companies in Switzerland pure order processing services, will be created by merging parts of the previously regionally organized branch back offices and the Business Engineering & Operations division of Publicitas as well as the IT company Pixedia. Christian Rohrbach will be put in charge of this logistics unit. In addition, the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO) will be created. This new function will be performed by Markus Bieri, previously Head of Business Engineering & Operations and member of the Media Sales-Publicitas Management Board, for the entire Media Sales business segment.
The 48-year-old Christian Rohrbach joined the Publigroupe Group in 1997 through the acquisition of Iware. Since then, he has held various management positions within Publicitas and Consultas before being appointed CEO of the Group's internal IT company Pixedia in November 2008.
The 44-year-old Markus Bieri worked for Price Waterhouse, Swisscom and Scout 24 before joining Publigroupe as CEO of Publiconnect in 2005. On January 1, 2008, he took over as Head of Business Engineering & Operations and at the same time became a member of the Management Board of Media Sales-Publicitas.
Christian Rohrbach and Markus Bieri will report directly to Beat Roeschlin, as will the regional managers and the CEO International.

Last but not least: How Yasni is saving Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is just around the corner once again. Happy lovers can rejoice - red roses, golden rings, romantic restaurants and sweet words await them. But what if you haven't found the man or woman for life yet?

Then a blind date could be the answer. This has been a common way of finding a partner since the 1959s at the latest. Suitable rendezvous partners used to be found via personal ads, party hotlines or acquaintances who liked to hook up. A week before the date at the latest, people started to feel nervous and their curiosity grew from day to day. But on the day of the meeting, the hopeful prospects often ended in disappointment: the person was a little too full-figured, talked mainly about themselves without interruption, or something else didn't go the way you had imagined. But times have changed: In the age of the Internet, Yasni is proclaiming the end of the good old blind date. Using the people search engine, you can find information about a potential partner in a matter of seconds and thus avoid unpleasant dates, explains Yasni CEO Steffen Rühl. The service searches the entire Internet for names and terms within a few seconds. According to Rühl, registered users can control their own reputation with their own profile - ego marketing and maintaining one's own reputation are becoming increasingly important on the Internet. The question is whether personal search engines are really able to protect you so reliably from unpleasant dates - when it is so easy to tamper with your own reputation.

Euro RSCG continues campaign for Bag and Aids aid

Euro RSCG Zurich has developed a new TV commercial, new headlines, and a new giveaway for the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and AIDS-Hilfe Schweiz (AHS).

In 2010, the core idea of the HIV prevention campaign for the Bag and the AHS is once again as follows: unprotected sex is addressed by means of fast sex, followed by the risk check at www.check-your-lovelife.ch, which is the focus of the campaign. http://www.check-your-lovelife.ch/
At the beginning of the year, the HIV prevention campaign is taking up the carnival season to mark the occasion, according to a statement from the agency. This is because the desire and risk of unprotected sex increases with the festive mood and the alcohol level.
In the new "Costume" TV commercial, once again only seconds pass before there is not much left of the costume. As an additional measure, specially prepared Fasnachtströten are distributed at various costume balls to illustrate how quickly lust can make itself felt. In addition, new fast sex headlines such as "Zack-Bums" ensure that the topic of "safer sex" remains in the consciousness of the Swiss population.

Higher professional examination for communication managers: OPET approves new examination regulations

The Federal Office for Vocational Education and Training (BBT) recently approved the new examination regulations for the Advanced Professional Examination for Communications Managers. The examinations are administered by the Swiss Advertising Examination Commission.

The OPET has put the examination regulations into force retroactively to September 1, 2009, writes the SW in a press release. This is gratifying "because the examination regulations could not be finally approved due to the protracted debate about the name of the title for French-speaking Switzerland, which is why the diplomas could not be issued and the diploma ceremony for the 39 successful graduates had to be postponed." The OPET has now decided: The protected title "Head of Communication" will in future be called "Responsable de la communication diplômée", or "Responsable de la communication diplômé" in French-speaking Switzerland.
The graduation ceremony will now take place on February 25 at Haus Appenzell in Zurich. The graduates will receive their diplomas in a festive setting. They will be presented by the President of the Examination Board Urs Schneider in the presence of SW President and former member of the Council of States Carlo Schmid-Sutter.

Google launches Google Buzz

Google wants to bring order to the flood of information and has launched Google Buzz. The new service is designed not only to track updates from a user's contacts, but also to filter them by relevance.

With Google Buzz, Gmail users can organize and control their social communication on the Internet even more easily, as the Internet giant writes in a press release. When accessing the function via mobile devices, another important piece of information is added to the communication: the current location.
In today's world of status messages, tweets and update streams, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain an overview, the press release continues. Google Buzz is a new way to share news, photos or videos and to start or continue conversations. Buzz uses existing social contacts in Gmail and suggests friends based on previous email and chat history. Buzz is also designed to make it easier to share information publicly or privately, so that users only need to use one tool for different contacts or groups of friends. The tight integration with the existing Gmail inbox makes it a breeze to find and continue conversations in real time.
Google Buzz was developed as an open system. It already supports the integration of Picasa, Google Reader, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger and Twitter. More are to follow. Developers and providers who want to support Google Buzz with their products can do so via a simple feed-based API, which will later be expanded to a full API for reading and writing.
