Last but not least: Federal Councillor shows her ass

Federal Councilor Micheline Calmy-Rey, as we've never seen her before: Naked and in high heels, she sticks her butt out at the readers of the satirical magazine *Vigousse*—causing quite a stir in French-speaking Switzerland.

Calmy-Rey owes the "provocative", unflattering pose to her namesake, the French caricaturist Corinne Rey. The 27-year-old, who draws under the artist's name Coco, has already undressed Nicolas Sarkozy and Bernadette Chirac. "The politicians there like the way we draw them naked in our own way," Rey is quoted as saying in the Sonntagszeitung. However, the readers of the French-speaking Swiss publication did not react so calmly. There were a few protests. Thierry Barrigue, editor-in-chief of Vigousse, admits that a line was crossed. But he is happy that the provocation worked. The politicians will have to dress warmly!

BaZ sale: Newspaper should not become a party paper

Ticino financier Tito Tettamanti has commented on the purchase of the Basler Zeitung (BaZ). He stated that the project had not been discussed with any party representative, nor is the newspaper to be turned into a party organ.

This was stated by 79-year-old Tettamanti in an interview with the Sonntag newspaper. "If we want to lose money, there is no better way than to turn BaZ into a party newspaper," said the investor. When asked whether BaZ would slide to the right, Tettamanti replied: "What does that mean?" For him, there are good and bad newspapers, intelligent and boring, courageous, original and conformist. "I just hope that BaZ will be one of the good, intelligent and courageous media." The division into left and right is outdated.

Press photo of the year 2009: Protesting women in Iran

Iranian women stand on a rooftop in the capital Tehran and shout their protest against the regime into the dark night. Italian photographer Pietro Masturzo captured this scene and delivered the press photo of the year 2009.

The picture was taken on June 24, 2009, shortly after the controversial presidential elections. During this time, many Iranians, especially young Iranians, protested on the streets during the day against the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and at night they shouted protest slogans from rooftops.
"It's a very intimate picture (...) It's symbolic of how you can enrich a message and look at things from a different angle," said Ayperi Karabuda Ecer, chair of the jury of the World Press Photo organization, in Amsterdam on Friday, according to SDA.

Google improves privacy settings for Google Buzz

Google is making improvements to the privacy settings for its new Gmail service, Buzz. With the launch of the social networking service this week, Google has once again sparked a wave of criticism.

The stumbling block was the complicated or extremely difficult to find privacy settings for Buzz. Users had their profiles set to "public" by default and had difficulty finding out where to change this. Google has now reacted and, according to the press release, announced in a blog post that it will respond to the criticism and make the settings more easily accessible. From now on, Google wants to ask new Buzz users how they want their profile to be seen by others when they first log in. Although the default setting is still "public", it can now be changed at the click of a mouse. There is no longer any need to search in the depths of your own Google account.
Google has also revised the option for blocking individual followers, which is now also easier. Whereas previously only users with public Google profile pages could be blocked, it is now possible to remove anyone from the list from the outset.
Criticism of Buzz's data protection has heavily overshadowed the launch of the new service in recent days. This was not a particularly happy development for Google, which is already under constant fire when it comes to data protection. Once again, the assumption was reinforced that Google was only on the hunt for data anyway and wanted to entice people to produce as much publicly accessible content as possible.

Advertising agency: Supporting Pastor Sieber with socks

It’s nothing new that Werbeanstalt gives away black Werbeanstalt socks to its customers, suppliers, and friends of the company at Christmas. This year, the agency went the extra mile to do something good for people who are less fortunate during this time of year.

For every reply card sent back with each pair of socks, the advertising agency donated 50 francs in the name of the sender. The choices were SWS Sozialwerke von Pfarrer Sieber, Suppenküche Limmatlädeli, the Art Directors Club Schweiz and the Kronenhalle Werber-Stammtisch. According to a press release issued by the advertising agency, the decision has already been made: Most of the donation requests went to the social work of Pastor Sieber, closely followed by the Limmatlädeli soup kitchen. A few requests for donations went to ADC Switzerland and the Kronenhalle-Werber-Stammtisch.
The cheque for CHF 1,150 was handed over to Pastor Ernst Sieber this week in Zurich. The payments to the other institutions and organizations will also be made in the next few days.

SF markets video summaries of football matches

Swiss television is breaking new ground in the marketing of football coverage. Recently, video summaries of Super League matches have been offered for sale on private media platforms via a partner company.

The marketing of football reports is a pilot project, said SF media spokesman David Affentranger on Friday in response to a report by Tagesanzeiger.ch/Newsnetz. The aim is to reduce production costs in this way.
The video summaries will be distributed and marketed by the Zurich-based marketing company Content Container. The SRG Sport Business Unit, which produces the sports programs on behalf of SRG, is responsible for acquiring the rights, producing the images and producing the clips.
No legal problems
According to Affentranger, the marketing of Super League matches does not present any legal problems. Compatibility with the Radio and Television Act had been clarified in detail by the in-house lawyer of SRG's Sport Business Unit, Adrian Boss. According to Boss, there is a great need for video images on media portals. SF was therefore looking for a "creative way" to meet this need. It is also quite conceivable that the model could be extended to other television programs in the future.

Casino Lugano must pay PR firm Boom Organizer 400,000 francs

Casino Lugano must pay Boom Organizer compensation in the amount of over 400,000 francs. This was the ruling of the Lugano District Court.

The premature termination of the contract with the Italian PR company was not legal according to the court ruling, as reported by SDA on Friday.
In 2004, the casino entered into a partnership with Boom Organizer. Boom Organizer was to take on marketing tasks and supply the casino with various products such as carpets, uniforms and brochures. The owner of Boom Organizer is the Italian Sergio Cappelletti, who was appointed head of marketing at the casino on 1 August 2005. A few months later, a scandal broke out: it became known that Boom Organizer was charging the casino far too much for its services. Cappelletti was therefore dismissed with immediate effect in November 2005. He accepted this without complaint - but not the simultaneous termination of his contract with Boom Organizer, which was valid until 31 December 2007.

Casino management leaves open whether it will appeal the ruling
The Lugano District Court has now come to the conclusion that the casino's termination of the contract was indeed unlawful. The casino must now compensate the Boom Organizer with over CHF 400,000. The casino management left open in a press release whether it will appeal the ruling. It emphasized that the incidents occurred under the old management.
