Last but not least: Show your iPhone - unless you work at Microsoft

The iPhone isn't just an all-around electronic device—it's also a fashion accessory. Technology packaged so stylishly naturally has to be shown off and put on display. It's just too bad if you work for Apple's competitor, Microsoft.

Microsoft employees who own iPhones prefer to keep them in their pockets when they meet the boss. That would be like an employee of Migros... As a Microsoft employee recently told the Wall Street Journal, employees hide their iPhones or try to make the devices look like others by covering them. According to Netzwoche.ch, around ten percent of Microsoft employees are equipped with the competitor's product. Small but significant detail: Microsoft top managers use the iPhone without a care in the world.

SF: Program highlights 2010 presented

At Tuesday’s press conference, TV Director Ueli Haldimann presented not only the 2009 annual report but also the programming highlights for the current year. The planned docu-soap featuring people with intellectual disabilities has already made headlines. Otherwise, the lineup features plenty of Swiss content, such as a special focus on the «Gotthard Tunnel,» a series of portraits of famous Swiss figures, and a talent show for singing groups.

Swiss television SF does not have the money for a summer series like "Alpenfestung - Leben im Réduit" this year. However, other, less expensively produced formats should provide a talking point. For example, the planned docu-soap with mentally disabled people. Together with "normal" people, the disabled people will run a swimming pool as part of a summer series. SF has commissioned the production company Endemol, the creator of "Big Brother", to realize the series. The company already produces the quiz show "1 against 100" and the game show "Deal or no Deal" for SF.
Television director Ueli Haldimann emphasized that the format would meet the standards of Swiss television. He assured that the disabled people would not be put on show. It was also not the first time that SF had carried out projects with disabled people. Around ten years ago, SF had the then 35-year-old Cyrill with Down's syndrome conduct several interviews with celebrities such as Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger and actress Anne-Marie Blanc. Disabled people were also involved in the program "Quer", Haldimann continued. "So there's nothing experimental about it."

Lots of Swiss topics
In the fall, the thematic focus "Gotthard Tunnel" will be broadcast on the occasion of the Gotthard breakthrough. Several feature films and documentaries are planned that deal with the myth of the Gotthard. The Swiss" is also about locals: this series portrays ten Swiss people who, according to Haldimann, have "achieved great things for this country over the last 1,000 years". Henri Dufour makes the start. Things then get popular with "Kampf der Chöre", a casting show for singing groups, and with the new season of "SF bi de Lüt", which this year follows wrestlers preparing for competitions, among other things.

SF: Nadja Zimmermann leaves "Glanz & Gloria"

Nadja Zimmermann is leaving «Glanz & Gloria» at the end of May. The 33-year-old has worked as a host and editor for the Swiss television network’s celebrity magazine since the show’s debut.

Zimmermann is leaving the program at her own request, Swiss Television (SF) announced on Tuesday. She had worked for SF since 2005 and was part of the founding team of "Glanz & Gloria". The position will be advertised.

In his new role, Alexander Horrolt reports directly to Publicitas CEO Robert Schmidli (Beat Roeschlin from May). Horrolt worked for many years in various functions at IP Deutschland and media agencies. At the beginning of 2009, the 40-year-old took over responsibility for the TV marketing team at Publicitas Cinecom & Media. The electronic media division now includes the marketing of the TV channels Sat.1, 3+ and Kabel eins in Switzerland, as well as the radio division.
