Grayling communicates for Netviewer

The Grayling agency has won a new account: Netviewer, a European web collaboration provider.

Netviewer has commissioned the agency Grayling in the important European markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. With immediate effect, the agency will support Netviewer with all its press work, including the organization of media events and press support for trade fairs.
Grayling is the world's second largest independent public relations, public affairs, investor relations and events agency. It has offices in 70 locations in 40 countries in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia. Grayling is part of the Huntsworth Group.

AOL marketed in Germany by Yahoo

Although AOL has withdrawn from Germany, the company is still active in the German online market. The provider is now cooperating with Yahoo in the area of display marketing.

In future, Yahoo will market the graphic advertising space on the German online pages of the AOL Internet portal as well as other online offerings from the AOL portfolio. In addition to its own and AOL offerings, the Yahoo Network also includes websites such as Sueddeutsche.de, Eurosport, Netlog, Online-Welten and Qype. According to the company, it aims to reach around 37 percent of all German Internet users. In Europe, the focus is on the UK market in order to expand display advertising offers as well as content and user applications, as Horizont.net quotes Kate Burns, Head of AOL in Europe.
The former online giant announced in January that it was closing its offices in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. Only the AOL.de portal remains, in a slimmed-down basic version. Services such as e-mail, Messenger and the Winamp media player can still be used.

Springer & Jacoby faces the end

The former advertising giant Springer & Jacoby is on the verge of collapse. Lutz Schaffhausen's own advertising and communications agency, Schaffhausen Communication, appears to be unaffected by the Hamburg-based agency's bankruptcy.

The agency management around Lutz Schaffhausen has filed for insolvency for the advertising agency and the digital subsidiary at the Hamburg district court. These are the last two remaining parts of what was once the most important creative forge on the German advertising scene. Together with lawyer Wolfram Dabow, agency head Lutz Schaffhausen had spent months trying to find an investor for S&J.
Schaffhausen took over S&J in 2006. He reduced the workforce by around 300 employees and restructured. Many creatives left, some came back later. The agency slipped into insolvency due to the loss of a number of clients, mismanagement and the exodus of creative staff.
A catalog of comments on the insolvency of Springer & Jacoby can already be found on Wuv.de. There is talk of S&J as the "cadre forge that produced all the great advertisers", of "the parent forge of the industry" and of the fact that the agency "lost what once made it so strong years before it became insolvent: Its culture and its culture bearers".

Valencia: The bear is loose at Coop

Starting now, customers can once again earn Trophy points at Coop. For a change, the target audience for this fourteenth promotion is not homemakers, but primarily young families: the collectible is the children’s book character Paddington Bear.

Collectibles include teddy bears in various sizes, children's backpacks and trolleys, breakfast cups, and shopping bags. Additional MemoCard sets are added to the collection points. Each card shows motifs from the world of Paddington Bear with the corresponding name in English and the German, French and Italian translations. In this way, children can learn their first English vocabulary in a playful way.
Valencia Kommunikation conceived and designed all the POS advertising materials that will be on display in Coop stores from April 6 to August 14. New teaser posters were also realized throughout Switzerland, as well as a national campaign in all family-relevant print media.

Responsible at Coop: Jürg Peritz (Head of Marketing and Procurement), Helmut Träris (Head of CCM Nearfood/Hard Goods), Thomas Schwetje (Head of Marketing/Services), Lydie Goltdammer-Fourkal (Head of Advertising), Andrea Nägelin, Estelle Schöpfer, Lukas Scheuber (Project Management). USA: Successful sales launch of the iPad

Apple seems to have hit the jackpot with its iPad. When sales began last Saturday, long lines formed outside stores across the U.S. According to Apple, more than 300,000 of the tablet computers were sold on the first day alone.

Experts estimated that up to 700,000 iPads changed hands over the entire weekend. That would be more than expected. The sales launch was staged: Extra employees in blue T-shirts were on hand to clap incessantly and raise the mood with shouts of joy. Initially, every customer who proudly held the iPad they had just bought over their head was greeted with cheers from those still waiting. However, the queues quickly dispersed and by the end of the day there were still devices available in many stores.
According to many experts, Apple is embarking on a risky adventure with the iPad. Ten years ago, Microsoft tried to get people excited about tablet computers. The software company failed. Apple's version is based on the successful iPhone and its small additional programs, the apps. Media companies supply electronic books, videos and news pages.
Customers in Europe will have to be patient: Sales will start here at the end of April. Prices for Europe have not yet been set.

Last but not least: Inflationary use of the Playboy logo

The men's magazine Playboy isn't just struggling with declining advertising revenue: While merchandise featuring the famous Bunny logo used to be a surefire hit, those items now risk gathering dust on store shelves.

Pinup calendars, Playmate autograph cards or Playboy figures were traditionally coveted collector's items. However, in order to make a lot of money selling merchandise, the company now prints the Playboy bunny practically indiscriminately on any item: Tanning sprays, navel piercings, drinks or even disposable lighters. Where has the brand's shine gone? Long-time collectors and fans are understandably disappointed. With such inflationary use of the brand logo, who would still be proud to call a product with the emblem their own?

Schneiter Meier Külling: Annual report for Implenia

Implenia commissioned Schneiter Meier Külling to develop a new conceptual and design framework for its annual report and to produce the final report. The goal was to place greater emphasis on the services, offerings, and values of the Swiss construction services company.

The new content concept is intended to create added value with journalistic containers. The increased proportion of graphics allows for multiple entry points and creates intuitive reader guidance, the agency for brand development and management explained in a press release. Construction projects are presented in reports. The paperback format is intended to focus the annual report on the essentials.

With the outsourcing agreement, Swisscom will operate and maintain all of the media company's networks in Switzerland with immediate effect.
