In the coming weeks, we’ll be featuring various soccer movies and ads in our «World Cup Special» to get you in the mood for the spectacle. The campaign will feature footballers Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Franck Ribéry, Andrés Iniesta, Cesc Fàbregas, Theo Walcott, Gerard Piqué and Ronaldinho, among others. Last but not least: BP gets a new logo

The logo of the BP oil company looks beautiful. And so green. Could almost be mistaken for an environmental protection organization. No wonder it is a thorn in the side of Greenpeace. The environmental organization has now had the BP logo rebranded.

The pretty logo does not fit in with BP's dirty business, so the reasoning goes. Greenpeace is therefore calling on users on its website to redesign the logo and send in their own creations. Many modified versions are already on display. The users were not only particularly creative when it came to the graphic design. The participants also enjoyed playing with the abbreviation BP, which could ultimately stand for anything...

Twitter: Paid tweets only via its own advertising system

Twitter only wants to allow itself to advertise in future. The guidelines have been revised to the effect that third parties and developers will no longer be allowed to integrate ads into users' streams in future.

In future, Twitter will reserve paid tweets for its own advertising system "Promoted Tweets", which was launched in April. The company justified the move by stating that the "user experience" should be preserved. However, there is also talk of costs - security, user support, etc. - that the company has to bear in order to keep the advertising system running. Twitter clearly does not want to bear these costs for third-party advertising networks.

SF: "Arena" now with subtitles

On Friday, May 28, 2010, Swiss television will broadcast the program "Arena" with subtitles for the first time. This completes the expansion of subtitling and more than a third of all programs on SF 1, SF zwei and SF info are now subtitled.

The subtitled formats mainly include programs in the main evening program, which are broadcast between 7 and 10 pm. The subtitles are produced by Swiss TXT on behalf of SRG. So-called respeakers translate dialect programs into High German. A special software program then converts the language into subtitles.

Google: Distribution of advertising revenue disclosed

Google has revealed how the internet company shares advertising revenue with its partner websites. According to this, the company keeps either just under a third or just under half of the revenue, depending on the type of advertising.

In the "AdSense for Content" model, in which advertisements are placed on the website to match words, the website owner typically receives 68 percent of the revenue, as Google reported in a company blog on Monday. The situation is different with the "AdSense for Search" variant. In this model, the website operator installs a Google search window - and the ads that appear are adapted to the search terms. The website normally only receives 51 percent of the revenue. Google explains the higher discount with the fact that search engine technology has to be constantly developed further.
The disclosure was probably triggered by a competition investigation in Italy, where newspaper publishers accused Google of abusing its dominant market position. Observers also saw this as a preparation for the upcoming launch of Apple's advertising platform iAds, where partners are to receive 60 percent of the revenue.

Walker: A love story staged for Kein & Aber

The messages give a foretaste of the complicated, sometimes funny, sometimes sad and sometimes simply beautiful relationship between the two protagonists Em and Dex in the novel "Two in a Day" by David Nicholls. The subjects appeared as handwritten teaser posters and advertisements. And now as a resolution. Over 400 people have already called the published cell phone number 076 247 99 54, listened to Em's message and left messages.

Responsible at Kein & Aber: Peter Haag (publisher). Responsible at Walker: Pius Walker (CD), Heinz Helle, Martin Arnold (text), Stefanie Huber (AD), Signe Fleischmann, Rahel Witschi, Stefan Jandl (graphics), Cornelia Nünlist (consulting)

Stahel partner for ROC: Occasions are not a matter of luck

Stahelpartner has created an image campaign for the ROC regional used car centers belonging to the Amag Group. It dramatizes the safety and reliability of buying a used car.

To show that buying a used vehicle from ROC is not a matter of luck, the campaign plays with symbols that at first glance have nothing to do with safety and reliability: a slot machine and dice. The image campaign "Top used cars are no matter of luck" starts with posters, TV and radio commercials and Internet banners.

Switzerland Tourism: Swiss abroad on the road as "tourism ambassadors"

The marketing organization Switzerland Tourism aims to turn as many as possible of the approximately 700,000 Swiss citizens living abroad into so-called 'tourism ambassadors.«.

The aim is to inspire the Swiss abroad with Switzerland Tourism's messages about Switzerland as a vacation destination, spokeswoman Véronique Kanel is quoted as saying in the Sonntag newspaper. The aim is to promote the interest of the Swiss abroad in their home country and at the same time offer them the opportunity to advertise Switzerland to their professional, family and friends.
Swiss abroad who sign up for the campaign receive a free suitcase with posters, postcards, brochures, stickers and Swiss flags as well as a DVD with photos and PowerPoint presentations about Switzerland. In return, the tourism ambassadors receive monthly information and news from Switzerland. They can also benefit from exclusive travel offers.
The campaign has obviously been a success: according to Sonntag, 1,500 people have already registered since January 1, 2009. Every week, 25 new ones join. According to Kanel, the aim is to reach 4,000 members by the end of the year. The spokesperson does not reveal how much the campaign costs.
