JWT+H+F: National campaign developed for Heineken

After having handled advertising for Heineken from 1999 to 2004, JWT+H+F has been working for the international brand again for the past year and a half.

The decisive factor for the return to the Maag-Areal was the beer manufacturer's desire for a stringent advertising presence. In developing the new campaign, the agency conducted a comprehensive market analysis of the Heineken consumer. The result of the conceptual and strategic work is a campaign that condenses the brand promise into a unique collage, as the agency writes in a press release. In it, the insights into the typical leisure behavior of the target group are transported unadulterated and directly onto the billboards. The motto of the campaign is: "Whether at the bar, in the swimming pool or at an open-air festival: the shared moment of enjoyment is a cool Heineken".
From now on, the various subjects can be seen throughout Switzerland in the form of advertisements and posters. At the same time, web banners will be placed on various portals.

Facebook gave access to data to advertisers

Facebook steckt erneut im Datenschutz-Arger. Das Online- Netzwerk ermöglichte Werbekunden laut einem Zeitungsbericht teilweise die Identifizierung von Nutzern.

As the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, this contradicts Facebook's privacy policy. This is because it states that advertisers only receive non-identifying information without the user's consent. However, other providers such as MySpace or Hi5 have also passed on data, as was also reported.
Facebook is said to have stopped the practice in the meantime. According to the report, it concerned cases in which users of the social network clicked on ads on their own profile page. Under certain circumstances, the advertisers were provided with data from which they could identify the user. It is generally common practice in the Internet industry to only transmit additional information in anonymized form when users click on advertisements.
It is interesting why the Wall Street Journal, of all publications, which in addition to MySpace also belongs to Rupert Murdoch's media group News Corp, is reporting on this. MySpace, which has long been the world's largest online network, has recently been clearly left behind by Facebook. And the revelation comes at an inopportune time for Facebook, as the company is currently being criticized by data protectionists for pushing users to be too permissive with personal information and at the same time not being transparent enough when it comes to data protection. Many no longer trust the online network. Of 1,588 users surveyed, 16 percent are said to have already left the social network, according to Netzwoche.ch. When asked whether they were leaving Facebook because they had concerns about their privacy, 30 percent answered "possibly" and 30 percent "very likely".
According to the Wall Street Journal, recipients of the data, such as the advertising marketer DoubleClick, which belongs to Google, and Yahoo's subsidiary Right Media, both stated that they were not aware of the transfer and had not used the data.

Radio1 broadcasts with new frequency from Etzel

Radio 1 is now broadcasting from Etzel on the new frequency 101.8. This means that Radio 1 can now be received in the Zurich Oberland, the upper part of Lake Zurich and the Einsiedeln region.

Following the definitive award of the license for the Zurich-Glarus area, this is the second major expansion of the broadcasting area for Radio 1, after the station was switched to 102.1 in Winterthur in late autumn 2009. Radio 1 now covers over 90 percent of the licensed broadcasting area with the large frequencies 93.6 (Uetliberg), Winterthur (102.1) and now 101.8 (Etzel). The only area still missing is Glarus/Walense, according to Radio 1 founder Roger Schawinski. However, this last reception gap in Radio 1's license area should be closed by autumn 2010 at the latest.
