Last but not least: Mafia-style marketing attack

Like the game, like the advertising. This motto was followed by a US advertising agency that created a marketing campaign for Mafia Wars - Las Vegas. To promote the online game, the advertisers scattered fake dollar bills around San Francisco on a grand scale.

25,000 fake dollar bills were lying around on the sidewalks of San Francisco. They were provided with a link to the game's website. Passers-by were probably delighted - at least for a moment. However, the city prosecutor's office had little sympathy for the action. It now intends to aggressively pursue all available legal action against the manufacturer Zynga and the illegal marketing measure. The advertising agency responsible has stated that it regrets any inconvenience caused by the advertising and is working with the city to "solve the problem" - whatever that may mean. After all, the flowers are already in circulation.

Y&R: Guerrilla action against oil spill

The message: "We are fighting to prevent more living beings from lying dead in oil. Boycott petrol!" The environmental organization is calling on customers to join it in the fight against the oil catastrophe and to take action themselves. And, above all, to stop filling up with petrol from the oil giant BP - i.e. Aral and Castrol - in future. The campaign caused a stir and was picked up in the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten and in various blogs.

Responsible for David against Goliath: Bernhard Fricke (Chairman of "David gegen Goliath e.V."). Responsible at the Y&R Group Switzerland: Patrick Bucher (concept/text), Oliver Glutz von Blotzheim (AD), Christoph Krummenacher (graphics), Thomas Schöb (CD).

UBS becomes Formula 1 sponsor

Following the launch of UBS's branding campaign over the weekend, the major bank announced its global sponsorship partnership with Formula 1 on Monday. The partnership will be officially launched at the Singapore Grand Prix in late September.

According to Group CEO Oswald Grübel, the partnership fits in perfectly with the new campaign. Formula 1 is the ideal partner because it is equally represented in Europe, Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America. In return, UBS will be present at the Formula 1 races with its brand and offer its clients exclusive events. The parties have agreed not to disclose the amount or duration of the commitment. Credit Suisse once supported Peter Sauber in the premier class of motorsport. Grübel, who sits on the Board of Directors of BMW-Sauber, was also the driving force behind this commitment. According to the Tagesanzeiger newspaper, the bank paid around CHF 25 million a year for its presence on the Sauber racing cars.
