Theme week on the Gotthard breakthrough praised by the Public Council

The Swiss Television Viewers' Council praised the coverage of the Gotthard tunnel breakthrough. However, the live broadcast should have focused more on visuals than on words. The new format of the "Sportlounge" and the afternoon programming were also well received.

The theme week succeeded in preparing interested viewers for the tunnel breakthrough. The audience council found it particularly valuable that different points of view were shown, such as the views of local residents, travelers, politicians and scientists. There was criticism of the live breakthrough, which the panel felt was not the highlight they had hoped for. It was not possible to build up suspense. According to the audience council, they should have had the courage to simply let the impressive images do the talking. The Council was impressed by the website on the subject.
The revised Sportlounge and its presenters were praised by the Audience Council. The program has become more varied and exciting. The broad mix of topics and the reports on fringe sports were also convincing. However, the program should be more in-depth, for example the audience council would like to see more in-depth research and more background information. The topics should be approached more controversially and undesirable developments in sport should be addressed. The Council also missed the fact that women's sport was practically ignored and that no female athletes were interviewed during the observation period.
The innovations in the afternoon program were also well received by the Audience Council. It is varied, informative, entertaining and offers a wide range of topics. However, some Council members missed the religion/church sections and the topic of ageing. The phone-ins during discussions were met with little approval.

Cultural Investor of the Year 2010: Migros Culture Percentage

Migros-Kulturprozent won the 2010 Cultural Investor of the Year award. The award, presented for the first time, was handed out on October 28, 2010, as part of the 2010 Kulturmarken Awards in Berlin.

The Kulturinvestor award is part of the Kulturmarken-Award competition. For the fourth time, this competition honors the most successful marketing strategies of cultural providers and cities, the most committed cultural mediators and the most creative forms of investment in culture in German-speaking countries. A total of 105 applicants from renowned cultural providers, cultural projects, city marketing companies and cultural investors applied for an award. The jury of eighteen experts from business, culture, science and the media selected the winners in the five categories of cultural brand, trend brand, cultural manager, city brand and, for the first time, in the newly created category of cultural investor of the year.
The idea of the Migros Culture Percentage goes back to Migros founder Gottlieb Duttweiler. In his spirit, the Federation of Migros Cooperatives and the Migros Cooperatives are committed to making an annual contribution to the Migros Culture Percentage. This is calculated on the basis of sales and is paid even if business in the retail trade declines. This guarantees the continuity of the Migros Culture Percentage and is firmly anchored in Migros' articles of association.
The main pillars of Migros Culture Percentage are activities and institutions in the areas of culture, society, education, leisure and business. They include the Migros Club School, the Eurocentres, the GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute in Rüschlikon, the four parks in the countryside, the Monte Generoso Railway in Ticino and the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art in Zurich. Activities and projects in the regional and national environment are another component of the commitment. Migros Culture Percentage sees itself as a driving force and seeks cooperation with other private and public organizations. It also supports projects and individuals through grants and study awards. Since its foundation in 1957, Migros has invested over 3.3 billion Swiss francs.
