Axel Springer: 10 Years of the Investor Magazine "Stocks"

With the release of issue 23/10 today, Stocks, the Swiss investor magazine, celebrates its tenth anniversary. In addition to its usual research and clear recommendations, the 100-page anniversary issue focuses on the number «10» and, with it, the past decade on the stock market.

In the interview, Christoph Blocher, leading economist Klaus Wellershoff, banking professor Manuel Ammann, and Niklaus Blattner, former vice president of the Swiss National Bank, share their views. The interviewees in the anniversary issue paint a clear picture of the future of the financial markets and express pointed—and consequently polarizing—opinions, as Volker Strohm, editor-in-chief of Stocks, notes regarding the anniversary issue.
Anleger-Magazin is published every two weeks, has a certified circulation of 22,014 copies, and reaches 61,000 readers.

100 years of Ramseier: A traditional brand interpreted in a modern way

On Thursday, Swiss fruit juice manufacturer Ramseier celebrated its 100th anniversary with an event at the Härterei club in Zurich. In addition to concerts by Caroline Chevin and Polo Hofer and the CD release party for «Schweizer Hits reloaded,» the winning song of the «Ramseier Song Contest»—a new interpretation of the folk song «S’Ramseiers gönd go grase»—was presented.

On Thursday, around 200 invited guests accepted the invitation from the long-established Swiss brand and enjoyed a Swiss dinner. Meanwhile, Swiss author Gion Mathias Cavelty humorously read the «true» story of apple juice. Ramseier invited only about 100 of its most important customers to the event. The aim was not to host a large-scale event, but rather a high-quality gathering—a thank-you for their collaboration, said Jürg Emmenegger, Brand Manager at Ramseier, in an interview with Werbewoche.
Swiss singer Caroline Chevin kicked off the official part of the event with her concert.

Afterward, the winner of the «Ramseier Song Contest,» «Dä Strolch,» performed his winning song and was presented with the 10,000-franc prize by Ramseier CEO Jann Gehri.

Beatboxer Camero also created a new soundtrack for the apple-pressing process—that is, the journey from apple to juice. The evening concluded with a performance by Swiss dialect pioneer Polo Hofer.

Prominent figures from the worlds of business, music, culture, and entertainment didn’t want to miss this musical treat, and so SBB Railway CEO René Kamer, musician friends such as Vera Kaa, Dodo, and Lina Button, actor Leonardo Nigro, director Paul Riniker, SSF program director Claudia Lässer, weather presenter Jeannette Eggenschwiler, Vice Mister Switzerland Stefan Tobler, and host Fabienne Heyne all listened to Polo and his band.
«Swiss Hits Reloaded»
The event marked the launch of the CD «Schweizer Hits reloaded,» which features tracks by musical greats such as Polo Hofer, Greis feat. Caroline Chevin, Michael von der Heide, Florian Ast, and Gimma. These are new interpretations of well-known folk songs such as «Luegit vo Bärg und Tal,» «Buurabuäbli,» and «Les Filles Du Limmatquai» by Stephan Eicher, which Greis and Caroline Chevin transformed into a club track. Polo Hofer also turned the yodeling song «E gschänkte Tag» into a soulful, catchy tune.
«With Ramseier’s product line, we try to combine tradition and modernity. We want to achieve the same thing with this CD,» said Jann Gehri, explaining the idea.
In the next issue of *Werbewoche*, read an interview with Jann Gehri, CEO of Ramseier, about the Swiss cross as a selling point and the goal of keeping a century-old brand young. The next issue will be published on November 18.

«Ramseier Song Contest»
The music contest was launched at the company’s request to create a new version of the classic song to serve as its brand song for its milestone anniversary. Numerous original interpretations of the Swiss hit were submitted via YouTube videos to Restorm.com. The independent music platform supported the entire project as a partner.
From among all the applicants, the jury president, music producer Philipp Schweidler, selected three bands for each of the three concert evenings in Zurich, Bern, and Lucerne. The audience at each concert evening and the jury each selected one of the three bands as the winner. From the three winners of the concert evenings, the jury, in collaboration with Ramseier, ultimately determined the overall winner. The winner then recorded the winning song from «Dä Strolch» under Schweidler’s direction. The result is a lively ragga version of the folk song «S Ramseiers gänd go grase,» which is also included on the CD. By the way: The proceeds from «Schweizer Hits reloaded» will benefit the Swiss Farmers’ Association’s Foundation for Self-Help and Social Assistance in Agriculture. This is the company’s way of thanking its partner, the Swiss farmers.

Bakom: Broadcasting license for youth platform Joiz

The cross-media youth platform Joiz has received a so-called broadcast license from the Federal Office of Communications (Bakom). This will allow Joiz's television programming to be distributed on Cablecom's analog and digital cable networks.

Following Bakom’s decision, Joiz’s television programming will be broadcast on Cablecom’s digital and analog networks starting February 1, 2011. The cross-media platform plans to air its first program on February 28, 2011, as Alexander Mazzara, CEO and co-founder of Joiz, told the SDA news agency.
OFCOM welcomed the fact that the youth platform, with a focus on music, aims to be active in the cultural sector, said Samuel Mumenthaler, a media lawyer at OFCOM. Mumenthaler added that Joiz would better serve the target audience of young adults. The goal is to offer a platform that serves as a media home for young adults between the ages of 15 and 29.
The media outlet aims to establish itself in the social media space. Viewers are encouraged to share posts on Facebook and participate in TV shows via the Internet and their cell phones. In addition to Swiss music, the Joiz editorial team also plans to cover socially relevant topics such as education, politics, and the environment. There will also be room for lifestyle stories about sports, movies, fashion, and nightlife, as well as digital topics.
About forty people will work for the youth platform. The media outlet was founded by Alexander Mazzara, Christoph Bürge, Peter Schulz, and Kurt Schaad. Like Schaad, Mazzara also worked for Swiss television for many years.

Less than 20 minutes to Zurich

Due to a power outage at Tamedia's printing facility in Zurich, the Zurich edition of the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten did not appear on Friday. All other editions of 20 Minuten, as well as the company's other newspapers, were delivered as usual.

For logistical reasons, the Zurich edition is printed last. Due to a power outage, the 190,000 copies of the regional edition could not be printed for Friday, as the media company announced on Friday. The printing press is still down. Since the technical problems have not yet been resolved, today’s Zurich edition has been definitively canceled, according to Marcel Kohler, managing director of 20 Minuten, as reported by Tagesanzeiger.ch.
However, Zimmer says this is an isolated incident. Because the process is complex and takes place under enormous time pressure, a disruption can quickly have major consequences. On Monday, though, *20 Minuten* readers will find their paper in the mailboxes as usual.
According to Zimmer, however, the cause of the malfunction is not yet known. This is the first time since the printing center opened in 1984 that an entire issue could not be printed. According to Tamedia, the Bubenberg printing center in question is the largest in Switzerland.
The malfunction, which occurred sometime between midnight and early morning, ultimately caused the entire printing press to shut down. The editions of the *Tagesanzeiger*, *Landbote*, and *Thurgauer Zeitung*, as well as the Basel and St. Gallen editions of *20 Minuten*, were not affected. They had already been printed by that time.
Because more than 100,000 newspaper readers accessed the e-paper within a short period of time, the application crashed. This was significantly more traffic than on a normal day, Zimmer said.

Tagesschau": SRG examines reintroduction of commentaries

SRG management is considering reintroducing the controversial format of commentary segments in news programs.

In 2006, the then director of television Ingris Deltenre removed the editor-in-chief's commentaries from the "Tagesschau" program without replacing them. SRG is now considering reintroducing the commentary format. At the end of October, the Swiss-German Regional Council, in the presence of Director General Roger de Weck and Rudolf Matter, submitted a corresponding proposal to the Regional Board. According to Tagesanzeiger.ch, this is contained in the newsletter for SRG members. Matter will now clarify whether regular commentaries should become standard in the SF information section. The regional board will then decide.
The SRG Regional Council's demand is supported by the Audience Council, as Tagesanzeiger.ch reports. In the "Program evaluation" report, the 26-member committee regrets that hardly any commentaries can be found on SF.

Nextage implements Facebook app for VBZ

At Facebook.com/zuerilinie In a competition, the company is looking for creative minds to create the most "matching" pair of opposites possible. The app was created and launched in collaboration with the company Nextage from Lucerne.
