The two main shareholders, Tito Tettamanti and Martin Wagner, confirmed on Sunday a report to that effect in the *NZZ am Sonntag*. The statement noted that the printing division, in particular, was affected, as its profitability was insufficient. They therefore sought the advice of individuals with sufficient industry experience. Against this backdrop, Tito Tettamanti—who had had «excellent experiences with industrial investments» alongside Blocher—recommended Robinvest as a consultant. However, they emphasized that there was no question of Blocher’s involvement with the Basler Zeitung. BZM is currently undergoing a turnaround, and it is entirely standard practice to engage external consulting services in connection with the strategic and operational management of the industrial portfolio.
According to a newspaper report—which has not been confirmed by the major shareholders—the target is for the media group to generate a 10 percent return starting in 2011. In the 2008/2009 fiscal year, the company posted revenue of 263 million Swiss francs but still incurred an operating loss of 12 million Swiss francs. The NZZ am Sonntag describes the breakup of the company into its individual parts as a possible scenario. The paper cites a «very well-informed source» in this regard. Tettamanti, who owns about three-quarters of the media group, and Blocher are reportedly interested only in the Basler Zeitung. «Everything else—especially the holdings and the printing plant—is to be sold off or shut down.»
Blocher and his company were apparently already involved when the current owners purchased the Basel media group at the beginning of the year. According to the report, Robinvest conducted the due diligence review at that time. This was followed by the appointment
Markus Somms as Editor-in-Chief and, more recently, the relocation of its headquarters to Zug. There, the company now operates under the name
Watt Capital Holding He is based at the law firm of an attorney whose son—a staff member at the firm—is a rising star in the SVP. He chairs the SVP chapter in the city of Zug and serves on the board of directors of the SVP-affiliated newspaper *Schweizerzeit*.
