Ringier: Patrick Strumpf becomes new managing director of Geschenkidee.ch

On March 1, 2011, Patrick Strumpf will take over as CEO of Geschenkidee.ch.

Leandro Sanchez and Simon Häusermann, who founded the company in 2002 and sold it to Ringer in 2008, want to take on new challenges outside the organization. However, they will continue to be available to Geschenkidee.ch as advisory board members and consultants. The change in leadership now initiated is a planned step that had been left open in terms of timing after the company sale, according to a Ringier release.

Following the integration of Geschenkidee.ch into the Ringier Group, the founders have decided, as planned, to initiate the change of management now. Ringier management has therefore searched for the new CEO in close consultation with the two founders.

Patrick Strumpf started his career at Philips Consumer Electronics before successfully building up a company himself with Pat Says Now. The graduate in business administration has international experience in IT retail and has known the Swiss e-commerce market for years. As a former supplier, he has been associated with Geschenkidee.ch since 2005 and is now to keep the Swiss online retailer on a growth course as CEO.

Seed: Discover a dangerous world with children's eyes

Seed realized the prevention film "Fabian's World" for Helsana. The emotional story lets parents see the world and its dangers through toddlers' eyes.

In the short feature film "Fabian's World," the little boy keeps discovering new ways to play. Many of them are harmless. But even a little carelessness can have tragic consequences. The prevention film, which lasts around six minutes, is aimed at parents of young children - with the aim of making them aware of the dangers to which young children are exposed.

The film is used in a variety of ways: As a DVD, it is enclosed with the Pro Juventute parents' letter in order to reach the target groups without wastage. The film can be found online on the Helsana website, on YouTube and with its own profile on Facebook. Further uses are being planned.

About the film

Last but not least: Earning money with gaming

Blockbuster games like «Guitar Hero» and new formats such as browser and social community games like «Dark Orbit» have been driving excellent growth rates in the gaming industry for years, resulting in very good career prospects. Accordingly, there is a high demand for well-trained professionals who can continue to drive the market forward. Yet it is precisely these professionals who are in short supply in Germany.

That's why some companies are making the journey from Hamburg to Munich on February 18 to take part in the "Recruiting Day" between companies from the games industry and Qantm students. This will take place at the Qantm Institute, a training facility for game developers and subsidiary of the SAE Institute. It is currently difficult for companies in the games industry to find suitable graduates, says Götz Hannemann, Head of Marketing at the SAE Institute. For many companies, neither the budgets nor the ideas and perspectives are an obstacle to economic growth, but rather the lack of specialists and managers.
In 2009, sales of computer and video games in Germany alone amounted to around 1.56 billion euros. Analysts estimate that a similarly good result was achieved in 2010. These figures illustrate the importance of the games industry as an economic sector. Well-known games companies such as Big Point, Gamigo, 49Games, DTP Entertainment and Innogames are planning a large number of new hires this year.
The Qantm Institute in Germany offers training programs in the fields of game design and development as well as animation. The so-called "Interactive Entertainment Program", with a focus on both programming and design, prepares students for a career in the professional computer games industry. One of Qantm's trademarks is its practice-oriented training concept. Qantm students are actively involved in projects right from the start and are quickly introduced to the work of game developers, so that they are prepared to earn money with games as soon as the entrepreneurs from the games industry arrive in Hamburg.

With links: Online marketing campaign for contacting the natural gas supplier

Mit Links designed and implemented an online marketing campaign for Gasverbund Mittelland and developed the Natürliche-energie.ch landing page. The landing page allows interested parties to contact the natural gas provider responsible for their region directly.

Reduced to the essentials, the single-page website presents all information on a single page with the support of an info and a film layer. The focus of the simple user guidance is on contacting the local natural gas supplier, writes the Mit Links agency in a press release. Inquiries are forwarded directly to the relevant contact person. The dramaturgy and design of the landing page and the banners are embedded in the framework of the current "Natural Energy" campaign by Zurich advertising agency Startbahnwest.

The landing page is also clearly displayed on mobile devices. Using a browser switch, an optimized version is delivered for mobile devices. Thanks to the use of web standards, the mobile version works on a wide range of devices such as iPhone, Blackberry or Android. The interactivity of the site is ensured through the intensive use of jQuery, as the press release explains further. Nearby natural gas filling stations are displayed via the Google Maps API. Depending on the browser and operating system, the cinema spot is played as a Flash or HTML5 version. The use of this technology mix ensures the greatest possible compatibility with a variety of platforms and screen sizes, Mit Links continues.
