No more Mister Switzerland contest on SF

Due to declining viewer interest, the Mister Switzerland pageant will no longer be broadcast on SF. The show has been part of the network's lineup since 2005.

Due to declining viewer interest, SRF's program managers have decided not to broadcast the "Mister Schweiz Wahl" in future, SRF said in a statement. RTS had already decided not to broadcast the show this year. RSI showed the show on its second channel. This means that there is no longer a need to continue the "Mister Schweiz Wahl" at national level either.

As the producer of the TV show, the Mister Switzerland organization tried to develop the show more in the direction of a casting format during this year's broadcast, the organization wrote in a press release on Wednesday. This did not lead to the desired success in the short term, with viewer numbers dropping slightly. Nevertheless, the Mister Switzerland organization will continue to develop this format consistently as a TV concept for the 2012 election.

However, the public broadcaster is optimistic despite the end of the program: "The Mister Switzerland contest will continue," said its director Urs Brülisauer when asked by the news agency SDA. Talks are already underway with private broadcasters. However, nothing has been finalized yet. Brülisauer cannot explain why more and more viewers are looking away from the handsome men. However, he definitely wants to "freshen up the format" before the Mister elections continue to be broadcast on a private channel.

The election of Luca Ruch from Frauenfelden as Mister Switzerland still achieved a market share of 26.3 percent. The election of the most beautiful Swiss has been on the program since 2005.

Relaunch: The Kloten City Gazette Becomes the Klotener Anzeiger

The Kloten town gazette is being redesigned and given a new title and layout with immediate effect. The aim of the relaunch is to make the somewhat outdated layout more readable and clearer.

The newspaper has been renamed the Klotener Anzeiger. According to the press release, publisher Kathrin Spross Rice's reason for the name change is that the local newspaper was rarely referred to by its correct and full name. In editorial terms, the paper will be divided more consistently into two parts, the press release continues. The first section contains politics, official news, local business and the special page "Wissen&Spielen". Society, culture, the agenda, the page for young people, local sport and, during the season, the special page "Flyers&Pucks" are placed in the second bundle.

Adliswil-based designer Ralf Turtschi from the company Agenturtschi was responsible for the new layout concept, while the company Unikat Kommunikationsagentur in Küsnacht was responsible for the new advertising presence - always in close cooperation with the Spross publishing house, the publisher of the newspaper, according to the press release.

The Klotener Anzeiger is a subscription newspaper and, according to its own information, one of the few independent local newspapers in the Zurich area. It is also the official publication organ of the city of Kloten. The Klotener Anzeiger is published every Thursday with a circulation of 3,200 copies, and once a month with a large circulation of 11,087 copies. The publishing house will next tackle the revision of the website and the cross-media expansion.

Axel Springer with significantly higher sales

The German media group Axel Springer significantly increased its revenue and slightly increased its profit in the first quarter. The weakness in the German newspaper market was more than compensated for by strong growth in the digital and international business.

As the company announced on Wednesday, turnover increased by 11.0% to 736.7 million euros compared to the same quarter of the previous year, also thanks to acquisitions. Adjusted for special effects, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 6.5 percent to 126.9 million euros in the first three months. At 63.0 million euros, the bottom line was a slight plus (previous year 62.3 million euros).

This year, Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner is aiming for a single-digit percentage increase in turnover. Operating profit is expected to rise somewhat more strongly. The Group expects a low double-digit increase here. Döpfner expects the digital and international activities within the Group to continue to gain in importance. In the first three months, these divisions grew by 26% and 58% respectively.

Due to the expansion of the Eastern European business and the expansion of digital activities abroad, the share of international revenues jumped above the 30 percent mark of total revenues. Axel Springer is pursuing its activities in Eastern Europe in a joint venture with the Swiss Ringier Group. The newspaper business in Germany shrank in the first quarter, but remained the Group's most profitable division despite a decline in profits. The company was able to slightly increase its circulation revenues thanks to price increases for Welt and Berliner Morgenpost, among other things.

However, advertising income fell sharply. In Switzerland, various TV program guides as well as the Bilanz, Handelszeitung and Beobachter, among others, belong to the German publishing house. (SDA)

Renzen Communications inspires teens to serve in nursing home

In a campaign for the Youth Red Cross Aargau, Renzen Communications has focused on the interesting, educational aspects of a social assignment in a retirement home. The aim is to demonstrate the added value and dispel prevailing prejudices.

"Young and full of drive. Everyone is wanted at the Youth Red Cross - even people like you and me." These testimonials form the hook for various posters and a brochure presenting the work of the Youth Red Cross in an accessible way. The idea is to make it unmistakably clear that the young volunteers not only receive thanks for their efforts, but also benefit personally and professionally from the valuable exchange between young and old. Accordingly, one of the statements is, "I didn't know you could learn so much about an entire century in one hour."

As part of International World Red Cross Day, young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are also being invited on flyers in postcard format to form their own impression of the social projects based on voluntary work at the open day on May 7, 2011 at the Kehl Center for the Elderly in Baden.

7th Corporate Communications Award: The call for entries is open

The Corporate Communications Award will be presented for the 7th time in mid-September. Entries can now be submitted - including for the first time for the Social Media Award.

Experts from agencies, companies, administration or non-profit organizations can apply for the trophy until 31 July. They are looking for integrated communication concepts that are developed and implemented by July 2011 and link various communication disciplines. They should also appeal to different dialogue groups and be meaningfully integrated into the overall communication of an organization.

The second award is celebrating a premiere this year: for the first time, a concept with a focus on social media will be honored at the awards ceremony in mid-September. "We want to take account of the increasing importance of social media as part of corporate communications," says Roland Bieri, initiator and organizer of the Award-CC. For the "Social Media Award" category prize, campaigns are expected to be cross-media in structure and include at least three different media. At least two of these must be in the area of social media - for example Facebook, YouTube, mobile apps or blogs. You can now vote for your favorites on Facebook (www.facebook.com/awardcc).

Grayling Switzerland joins the industry partners as a new award sponsor this year. Grayling - represented in Switzerland with offices in Zurich and Geneva - is an independent public relations, public affairs, investor relations and event agency and is based on the merger of the Trimedia, Grayling and MMD brands. Beat W. Werder, Head of Corporate Communications at Publigroupe in Lausanne, also completes the jury of experts. A special jury Romande will be appointed for projects from French-speaking Switzerland. This ensures that projects from French-speaking Switzerland and their special features are appropriately recognized and evaluated, explains Bieri.
