KSB: Ticino restaurant tips from Volkswagen

The gastronomy magazine *Tessin geht aus!* introduces its readers to the most highly recommended restaurants in southern Switzerland. This year, Volkswagen and the agency KSB Krieg Schlupp Bürge ensured that three particularly noteworthy restaurants were featured in the magazine.

SFLB: "Yes" to Pet Recycling

SFLB has designed new ad campaigns for Pet-Recycling Schweiz that are intended to help ensure that PET bottles are viewed not as waste, but as a valuable raw material.

The new campaign by Pet-Recycling Switzerland shows that all Swiss people are faced with an important question every day: Do I say "yes" or "no" to the environment? The message is that everyone who throws their empty pet bottles into the recycling container is making an important contribution to environmental protection. Because the bottles are turned into new things such as jackets, bags and, of course, bottles.

Responsible at Pet-Recycling Switzerland: Jean-Claude Würmli (overall responsibility), Lukas Schumacher, Sabrina Wirz (Marketing/Communications). Responsible at SFLB: Martin Spillmann (ECD); Dan Strasser, Patrick Suter, Reto Vogler, Roland Buob (creation); Rebecca Krausse, Stefanie Brauchli, Flurin Hardt (consulting). Y&R Group on the cover of Luerzer's Archive

The Y&R Group's Phonak campaign made it onto the cover of the renowned magazine Luerzers Archive.

At the beginning of the year, the campaign for the Swiss hearing aid manufacturer was already ADC awarded with gold. Now one of the so-called Sculptumes (symbiosis of costume and sculpture) can be seen on the front page of the Luerzer Archive. With the Phonak campaign this is the second time that the Y&R Group has succeeded in doing so. The elephant for Zurich Zoo has already graced the cover.

Eyekon: Relaunch of MySwitzerland.com

To kick off the summer season, Switzerland Tourism’s new website, MySwitzerland.com, is going live. The Zurich-based design and communications agency Eyekon is responsible for the concept and redesign.

The national tourism platform MySwitzerland.com comprises over 10,000 pages in 16 languages and is visited by more than two million users every month. It has now been redesigned by the agency Eykon, which won a pitch against the competition in the fall of 2010.

A new navigation concept (faceted search), a clear design with Swiss appeal and a variety of useful functions are intended to make travel planning an attractive experience. For example, the magazine view allows you to browse through travel catalogs, set bookmarks, circle interesting objects or even "tear out" the page and pass it on to your travel partner. The map view with a large selection of switchable elements also allows the user to explore the contents of the site by browsing.

A modular design grid formed the basis for the design of all pages. A large number of internal and external applications, including a hotel booking platform, could thus be transferred to the new look. The new website is compatible with all modern browsers and optimized for mobile devices. Eyekon consistently avoided Flash in the client-side implementation and instead relied on technologies such as HTML 5, CSS3 and jQuery. Our partner Pixeltex was responsible for the server-side programming.

Press Council criticizes illustration of the Lucerne Parish Bulletin

The Press Council has partially upheld the complaint of three CVP national councillors against the Cantonal Pfarreiblatt Lucerne. In February 2011, the Pfarreiblatt illustrated a statement on the weapons initiative with an undated picture of a boy putting a pistol in his mouth.

It was not apparent from the publication that the picture did not show a real gun but an ice cream in the shape of a gun. According to the Press Council, the Pfarreiblatt should at least have pointed out that it was a joke with water ice. Moreover, it is not acceptable to illustrate an article with a picture of a person taken in a completely different context without the consent of the person concerned. Anyone who willingly allows himself to be photographed at a public event at an art academy and agrees to the image being published on the Internet does not necessarily give his consent to the same image being used in a different, political context.

However, the Press Council does not consider the human dignity of the depicted child and the readership of the Pfarreiblatt to have been violated. It is true that the illustration of the report in the specific case appears inappropriate and tasteless. However, the picture of the child with the water ice does not impose itself on the unbiased viewer as a shocking image, but merely seems out of place in the context of the report "Church for protection against weapons".

Myspace will probably not be sold

The U.S. media company News Corp is having trouble selling its Myspace platform. The offers from prospective buyers are apparently well below the seller's expectations. The fire sale, which would result in heavy losses, is therefore unlikely to go through.

As recently as 2005, News Corp was prepared to fork out 580 million dollars for Myspace. Six years later, most interested parties are no longer willing to pay 100 million dollars for what was once the world's largest social network, as the industry service Pressetext writes. It refers to a report in the Wall Street Journal, according to which a sale still cannot be ruled out, but a strategic partnership is more likely. According to the newspaper, such a partnership could be concluded by the end of the month.
