Last but not least: Is the end of the good old mouse near?

Although many of us find it difficult or even impossible to imagine life without a computer mouse, the object has already made it into the "Museum of Obsolete Objects".

The "Museum of Obsolete Objects"MOOO for short, is an invention of the Jung von Matt/next agency. It is a neat YouTube channel that presents a chronology of obsolete technical achievements such as counting frames, calculators, typewriters and cassette recorders, as well as a video example of how each object works and is operated. The computer mouse has also already been included - according to MOOO, it will have reached the status of "obsolete" in 2015. Whether only the nostalgia fans among us will still be clicking the mouse in four years' time remains to be seen ...

He then does what a real man should do ... and is promptly inducted into the "Society of uncompromising men".

Meteomedia loses lead in "Tagesthemen" weather

Jörg Kachelmann's weather service Meteomedia loses the lead for the "Tagesthemen" weather program.

Although the company will continue to supply the weather data, the Bavaria subsidiary Cumulus will be responsible for production and presentation from January 1, 2012, said program director Volker Herres according to a spokesperson. The decision of the ARD directors on October 21 is still subject to committee approval, the spokesperson emphasized on Saturday in Cologne. Cumulus will now clarify which presenters will be engaged for the coming year. Claudia Kleinert and Sven Plöger currently present the weather after the "Tagesthemen".

Kachelmann founded Meteomedia, based in Switzerland, in 1990. The spectacular abuse trial against the 53-year-old finally came to an end a few weeks ago when the acquittal became legally binding. In the course of this, there was once again speculation about Kachelmann returning to the screen. (SDA)

Dominik Imseng: Small book written about big ad

There are books about a single painting or a single designer chair. Dominik Imseng has now written the first book about a single ad: "Think small" for the VW Beetle, created in 1959 and, according to "Advertising Age," the best ad of all time.

"'Think small' is the Mona Lisa of advertising," says advertiser and journalist Dominik Imseng. "Everyone knows the ad, but little is known about it. How exactly did 'Think small' come about? How did it happen that the Jewish agency Doyle Dane Bernbach, of all people, advertised Hitler's Volkswagen? How did Bill Bernbach, who didn't get into advertising until he was 30, revolutionize an industry in such a short time?" For his book, Imseng conducted extensive interviews with creative legends Julian Koenig, Bob Levenson, George Lois and Alex Bogusky, according to the release. And last but not least, he interviewed the client of the legendary ad: Carl Hahn, then head of Volkswagen USA.

Story of Kachelmann's ex-lover to be made into a movie

The fate of Jörg Kachelmann's ex-lover, who accused the weather presenter of rape, is now being filmed for television. Two companies bought the ex-lover's personal rights for the film project.

The German-American TV production company Story House Productions and Zurich-based script developer Scriptproducer are behind the project. The story focuses on "the dignity of the woman who, after her fateful decision to denounce the weather presenter and bring him to justice, came into the public spotlight and became the plaything of the media, lawyers and experts", according to a statement from the companies on Friday.

It has not yet been decided which broadcaster will take part in the production. The casting of the lead role is also still open. Filming is due to start in a year's time. Kachelmann was acquitted in May after a month-long trial due to lack of evidence. (SDA)
