Last but not least: Booking in Berndüütsch

In October of that year, Swiss launched the Swiss.com homepage in Zurich German and Romansh. This was a huge success and prompted the airline to launch a contest among its Facebook community to select another language.

The clear winner was Bernese German. And so from now on you can also book your Swiss flights in this beautiful dialect. And because it is so beautiful, Swiss has also written the press release in Bernese German - the lead is a small excerpt from it.

The press release continues: "About Swiss.com/swissfuerbaern you can simpu, swing and without Zedu a mobiui Bordcharte bischpiuswiis or the wäutwiite Schpeziauagebot ustscheggä. And further: The Zurich German and Romansh versions can be found under the following links: Swiss.com/diniswiss and Swiss.com/tiaswiss. Oh yes, and by the way: all three are only available via the direct links or Facebook and not via Swiss.com reachable. Well, why not post it in Swiss German - in keeping with the motto "nützts nüüt so schads nüüt". In any case, the communiqué clearly stands out from the flood of press releases that reach the Werbewoche online editorial team every day - and has thus at least made it into "Last but not least".

Time Warner offers billion for Endemol

Time Warner has offered one billion euros for the highly indebted Dutch TV producer Endemol. The US media giant is offering the sum in cash, a spokesperson for the producer of formats such as "Big Brother" said on Monday.

The bid does not change the fact that Endemol wants to remain an independent company and is therefore aiming to restructure its debts of around two billion euros with the help of its lenders. Endemol is owned by Goldman Sachs, Mediaset and the investment firm of founder John de Mol.

The company has already breached its loan covenants and an exemption expires on Tuesday. Endemol is active in 31 countries including the USA, the UK and India. The company specializes in reality TV and game shows. (SDA/RTD)

Basler Zeitung: Stephan Sutter becomes page editor

Stephan Sutter is joining the editorial board of the Basler Zeitung as a new member and will serve as editor-in-chief. He currently works as a member of the editorial board at Schweizer Illustrierte.

In addition, he was also significantly responsible for the recently launched Landliebe magazine. In particular, he will take care of the upcoming Sunday edition of Baz, according to a statement on Tuesday. Having grown up in the Basel region, Sutter has worked for Ringier for years in various management positions, including as head of news at Blick Basel and as deputy editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick and the TV magazine Tele. Sutter will start at the end of March at the latest. Meanwhile, preparations for the Sunday edition are proceeding according to plan; it will appear for the first time on January 8, 2012.

Radio silence at the Basler Zeitung

Following the departure of Moritz Suter, who sold his shares to Rahel Blocher, there is radio silence at the Basler Zeitung: neither the company nor the editorial team are commenting. Suter's successor is to be officially announced on Thursday.

On its own behalf, the Baz remains true to itself and extremely taciturn: Suter's capitulation is worth 13 lines on the Tuesday front page to editor-in-chief Markus Somm. Online, the Baz remained completely silent, while partner portals of Newsnet reported.

Somm announces in the newspaper that Suter's successor will be announced by Thursday at the latest. A company spokeswoman held out the prospect of a media conference on that date; there would be no information before then. However, there seems to be a need for information, as was reported at some newsstands in Basel, where the NZZ and Tages-Anzeiger were sold out on Tuesday.

No information before Federal Council elections

Christoph Blocher - business partner of his daughter Rahel - did not comment on the Basler Zeitung newspaper to the SDA news agency on Tuesday. The SVP National Councillor said on the fringes of the session in Bern that there would be no information on this before the Federal Council elections, i.e. on Thursday at the earliest. Blocher also did not want to comment on the rumor that FDP National Councillor Filippo Leutenegger would become the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baz. As long as the future publisher of the Baz is not known, the editorial team does not want to comment either: There are still too few facts on the table to do so, said a spokesperson for the editorial commission.

Meanwhile, the protest movement "Save Basel" with writer Guy Krneta, which was founded in 2010 after the appointment of Blocher biographer Somm as editor-in-chief, is calling for a rally on Saturday. By Tuesday, their online appeal against Somm and for an independent Baz had received more than 19'000 Persons signed. (SDA)

Press Council: Complaint about takeover of editorial content rejected

The exchange of editorial content as part of media partnerships continues to grow, particularly in the online sector. The Press Council has therefore used an identical complaint filed against several media outlets as an opportunity to reaffirm its existing practice.

Editorial offices are responsible for all content that they publish, according to a statement from the Press Council. This also applies in particular to reports that they take over from other media. They should therefore check these articles before publication. However, it would be disproportionate to require the editorial offices taking over the content to investigate external articles themselves. The Press Council concludes that the duty to check is limited to obvious violations of the "Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Journalists". However, this only applies if the acquiring medium discloses to its audience who was originally responsible for the report.

In the specific case, the Tages-Anzeiger violated paragraph 7 of the "Declaration" by publishing the original article because it mentioned the name of a Swiss man described as "one of the world's biggest spammers", although it would have been sufficient to simply mention his company. This violation of the "Declaration" was not obviously recognizable for the editorial offices that took it over - without conducting their own research. The Press Council therefore concludes that the online editions of Basler Zeitung, Berner Zeitung and Thurgauer Zeitung cannot be criticized in terms of professional ethics.

Advico Y&R: Audi congratulates SI on its anniversary

Audi congratulates *Schweizer Illustrierte* on its 100th anniversary with elegant restraint—with an ad created by Advico Young & Rubicam.

When Audi advertises in a print medium, it always stands out, the agency said in a statement. No matter which model it is. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Swiss magazine Schweizer Illustrierte, Audi is taking a step back with a wink - after all, it is not stylish to steal the show. But fortunately, a simple congratulation, well packaged, is just as good advertising for Audi.

The ad appears in the anniversary issue of Schweizer Illustrierte on December 5, 2011.

Zürichsee Medien takes over Capital FM

Zürichsee Medien is acquiring Capital FM, the radio station serving the Bern area, from the media company Espace Media. Together with Radio Zürisee, this creates a strong network of stations under the Zürichsee Medien umbrella in the Bern, Winterthur, and Zurich regions.

The anchoring of Capital FM in the Bern region is to be maintained, as Tamedia writes in a statement on Monday. At the same time, the Bernese station is to benefit from an intensive exchange with Radio Zürisee in the areas of programming, technology and sales. "From an editorial point of view, we attach great importance to Capital FM offering independent programs for the region," Theodor Gut, chairman of the board of directors of Zürichsee Medien, told SDA. Zürichsee Medien also owns the local station Radio Zürisee, based in Rapperswil SG. However, it is conceivable that the two stations could share a correspondent for reporting from the Federal Parliament, for example, Gut added. There are also plans to create synergies in technology, for example by using the same technical systems. Further details are being worked out, according to Gut. "I only found out on Sunday that we had been awarded the contract," he said.

Zürichsee Medien AG is taking over all employees of Capital FM as well as the employees of the advertising market AV Medien, who previously worked mainly for the radio station. A total of 28 employees (22.4 full-time positions) will be transferred to Zürichsee Medien, which, in addition to Radio Zürisee, also includes the magazine marketer Zürichsee Werbe AG.The parent company of Espace Media, Tamedia, is thus also parting with its radio station in Bern following the sale of Tele Bärn and Tele Züri to AZ Medien at the end of August. The company had decided in April of this year, as part of the merger with Edipresse Suisse, to examine a sale of its radio and TV stations as well as its specialist media.

The transfer of Capital FM's license must be approved by the Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications in accordance with the Radio and TV Act. The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the sale, which is subject to this approval by the supervisory authority.
