Migros launches "Animanca - Discover" annual promotion

For 2012, Migros has developed a new concept for its Manias campaigns. Instead of individual, standalone Manias, there is now a thematically linked annual promotion called «Animanca – Discover.».

The campaign is characterized by many exciting activities that go beyond collecting, writes Migros in a statement on Tuesday. The first highlight will be the talk of the town in just four weeks. Animals would play a leading role in this.
The new campaign is designed to arouse curiosity and emotions and to generate enthusiasm, it continues. Anyone who is open to mysteries and new things will become an explorer in 2012 and have a lot of fun in the process. Animanca also takes place on the Internet with a special world of discovery that has new surprises in store every day.

In addition, Migros would provide "priceless" discoveries together with a variety of external partners. Animanca would thus not only take place in Migros stores and on the Internet, but also directly in nature, among other places. What exactly these actions will involve will be revealed at a later date.

Animanca kicks off on January 24, 2012, and will feature "legendary Animanca stones. What the stones are all about is to remain a secret for the time being.

Journalist not given access to Federal Council interview corrections

A television journalist has not been provided with any information regarding the corrections that former Federal Councilor Micheline Calmy-Rey made to the draft of a newspaper interview about the Libya affair. The Federal Administrative Court has dismissed his appeal.

A long interview with Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey appeared in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper on June 19, 2010. She was asked about the affair surrounding the two Swiss nationals detained in Libya and the circumstances that ultimately led to their release. As agreed, the interview was sent to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) before publication so that corrections could be made. With a view to an appearance on the program "Arena", a journalist from Swiss television later demanded to see the corrections that had been made.

However, the FDFA refused to disclose this. It took the view that a final correction would make no sense at all if the changes ultimately had to be made accessible to the public. The Federal Administrative Court has now dismissed the television journalist's appeal.

According to the judges in Bern, only the authorized interview is considered a "completed official document", which must be disclosed in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. There was no violation of media freedom or freedom of information. The decision can still be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court. (SDA)

Rhaeto-Romanic news agency ANR celebrates its 15th anniversary

At the start of the year, the Romansh news agency Agentura da Novitads Rumantscha (ANR) is celebrating its 15th anniversary. It sees itself as an important pillar in the promotion of the Romansh language.

The agency has an annual budget of CHF 1 million and is funded two-thirds by the federal government and one-third by the canton of Graubünden. As ANR announced on Monday, it supplies the Rhaeto-Romanic newspapers La Quotidiana, La Pagina da Surmeir and Posta Ladina as well as the Rhaeto-Romanic electronic media.

The agency began its activities at the beginning of January 1997 with the first edition of the daily newspaper La Quotidiana. ANR is independent of its clients. The texts are written in the written language Rumantsch Grischun as well as in all Rhaeto-Romanic idioms. The written language is used for reports that are intended to appeal to the entire language community.

Measures to preserve the Rhaeto-Romanic language

Without the news agency, the publication of the daily newspaper La Quotidiana would be inconceivable, writes ANR. Since taking over the editorial team in May 2009, ANR has ensured the publication of this newspaper. The other print products would also be at great risk without ANR. The news agency is therefore a strong and efficient measure for the preservation and promotion of the Romansh language, writes ANR.

ANR employs eleven permanent members of staff, who share 780 full-time equivalents. There are also freelancers. In addition to the main editorial office in Chur, there are workplaces in Bern, Disentis/Mustér, Cumpadials, Trun, Vuorz, Sur, Zernez, Schuls and Uznach SG. The ANR sponsors are united in a foundation board. The print media each have one seat on this board. The electronic media - Rhaeto-Romanic Swiss Radio and Television, Radio Grischa and Radio Engiadina - also have one seat each. In addition, the organizations Lia Rumantscha and Pro Svizra Rumantscha as well as the Graubünden cantonal council have a seat on the committee. (SDA)

Last but not least: Lidl meets Vivaldi

Lidl—the name is generally associated with low wages, low-cost products, and a customer base that loves the latter. In the Netherlands, the discount retailer is now apparently taking on this image.

At first glance, classical music and champagne don't seem to fit in at all with Lidl. In the Netherlands, however, the store is now advertising exactly that: The viewer is gently sprinkled with Vivaldi's "Winter" from the violin concerto "The Four Seasons", accompanied by drops of water in slow motion - you only find out at the end of the commercial that the liquid is actually fine champagne and not drops of water.

Well, at least Lidl remains somewhat true to itself when it comes to price - paying 14.99 euros for a bottle of champagne should be feasible for the average Lidl customer.
