Contexta: New campaign developed for Vaudoise

Vaudoise Insurance is launching a major communications campaign in 2012. A national campaign by Contexta will use all media and disciplines to demonstrate that no other insurance company is closer to its customers—both geographically and on a personal level.

The campaign therefore focuses on authentic people from the Valais, Basel or Zurich who are rooted in their region and who, against the backdrop of the Matterhorn, the Middle Rhine Bridge or the Prime Tower, proudly declare: I am Vaudoise, as it says in a press release. For the film, the idea was expanded by another dimension, namely the good feeling of living one's life carefree. Thus, the respective protagonists of the image spots, lovingly and almost documentary-like staged by director Tobias Fueter and stories, talk about their emotions and traits, while one sees them confidently mastering their everyday lives.

Eyekon: Mailing Guide for Swiss Post

Eyekon designed and implemented the Mailing Guide for Swiss Post. Swiss Post commissioned the guide to help advertisers streamline the planning process for mailings and to promote the use of addressed direct mail via the postal service.

The mailing guide not only offers basic knowledge, tips and checklists, but also lets users interactively create their own mailing concept in the configurator so that nothing is forgotten. A calculator that calculates the expected mailing costs is also integrated. As a result of the concept work, the web-based tool summarizes all entries and generates a document that can be used as a briefing for external service providers and for internal budget planning, as well as a specification for the implementation of the mailing. This document can be downloaded as a PDF or DOCX file and can be further edited at any time.

The project was implemented using the PHP framework Cake PHP and also relies on AJAX functionality. In order to keep the application barrier-free throughout, fallbacks were implemented in places, which also allow users with disabled Java Script or screen readers to fully use the mailing guide.

Responsible at Swiss Post: Andrea Hirschi (Product Manager Direct Point) and Gabriela Weibel (Marketing Communications Post Mail). Responsible at Komma Petra Hasler Communication: Petra Hasler (Text). Responsible at Eyekon: Thomas Egloff (overall responsibility), Jonas Fahrni (technical direction), Tom Bosson (art director), Christian Flepp, Sarah Hähnle (design), Malte Spielberger, Miya Reitinger, Ronny Binder (programming) and Christina Meyer (content and project management).

Last but not least: What really makes men tick

Men generally have a reputation for being somewhat reserved emotionally as they go through life. At least, that is, as long as sports aren't involved.

The latest commercial for the sports channel ESPN shows what men are capable of when it comes to football, ice hockey and the like. Using the example of sports betting - it's hard to believe what the child in a man will bet on when he is so convinced that his favorite team will win.

Bank Sarasin files complaint against Weltwoche

Bank Sarasin has filed a complaint against *Die Weltwoche* with the Swiss Press Council. The complaint concerns the publication’s inaccurate reporting regarding a breach of bank client confidentiality by a former employee.

Bank Sarasin is of the opinion that Weltwoche has seriously breached its journalistic duties in various respects and in doing so has accepted damage to the reputation of Bank Sarasin and the client advisor wrongly cited as the source, according to a statement issued on Monday. Weltwoche had not only inadequately checked its only source, but had also deliberately ignored information and contacts made by Bank Sarasin in the edition of January 5, 2012, which would have allowed a prior correction of the erroneous reporting, and had also failed to make corrections in subsequent editions. Bank Sarasin has no further comment on the content of the complaint.

On behalf of the Press Council, section secretary Martin Künzi said that the committee had already considered taking action on its own initiative. The bank's complaint is now being looked into. A decision by the Council for Ethics in the Media is expected by the middle of the year. Weltwoche editor-in-chief Roger Köppel told the SDA news agency that the reporting had been correct. Weltwoche had "fulfilled its journalistic duty to the best of its knowledge and belief". The abuses uncovered had led to Hildebrand's resignation.

Bank Sarasin had never been at the center of the criticism and reporting. In addition, the bank had not answered any of the newspaper's inquiries, citing banking secrecy. When the bank voiced criticism after the first article, Weltwoche asked what needed to be corrected. According to Köppel, this question also remained unanswered.

Bank Sarasin has already filed a criminal complaint in the affair surrounding the stolen bank data of former National Bank director Philipp Hildebrand. This is directed against the former IT employee who handled Hildebrand's bank data.

The complaint also mentions people who may have incited the man to commit his crime or exploited him. This could at least make things uncomfortable for the Thurgau lawyer and SVP cantonal councillor Hermann Lei, who was given the stolen bank details. The information finally reached the Federal Council via former Federal Councillor and SVP National Councillor Christoph Blocher.

UBI: Ombudsmen for radio and television re-elected

The Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) has reappointed the ombudsmen who report to it for another four years.

Swiss broadcasting legislation provides for ombudsman offices for Swiss radio and television broadcasters, as detailed in a press release issued on Monday. With the exception of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG), these are appointed and supervised by the UBI. There are three ombudsman's offices for private radio and television broadcasters, divided into language regions.

For the German- and Romansh-speaking regions, the UBI has Guglielmo Bruni from Basel was confirmed as ombudsman for a further four years, while his deputy remains Oliver Sidler from Zug. The French-language ombudsman's office remains the responsibility of Denis Sulliger from Vevey and the Italian-speaking one at Gianpiero Raveglia from Roveredo. Guglielmo Bruni is also the representative for the Italian-speaking and Gianpiero Raveglia for the French-speaking region. The persons re-elected until the end of 2015 all work full-time as lawyers.

The ombudsman's office is responsible for dealing with complaints. Within 20 days of broadcast, any person may complain about a program to the competent ombudsman's office. The alleged defect must relate to the content of the broadcast. Complaints can be made, for example, that the broadcast is inappropriate, trivializes violence, is inhumane, immoral or harmful to young people. A complaint can also be submitted if access to the program has been denied.
The UBI is an extra-parliamentary commission of the Swiss Confederation. It consists of nine part-time members and is chaired by Roger Blum. In response to complaints, the UBI must determine whether radio and television broadcasts have violated provisions on the content of editorial programs or whether access to the program has been illegally denied.
