Die Werbekanzlei: Project "House bar" realized

The Zurich agency Die Werbekanzlei realizes the project "Hausbar" for Kardamon Catering. As a pop-up bar and restaurant, burgers, mezze and drinks will be served over the next 15 months.

The creations come, among others, from the pen of celebrity chef Mike Huynh, who is already Chef de Cuisine of the catering. The house bar is uncomplicated and is intended to become a second home for city dwellers, the agency writes in a statement. Of course, all other guests are welcome at any time.

In addition to the visual appearance, the advertising agency is also responsible for the strategic orientation. Together, not only the former Boos Lounge was redesigned, but also the menu was created. The name "Hausbar" was also given by the advertising agency.

Responsible at House Bar/Cardamon Catering: Adrian Rathgeb, (overall responsibility). Responsible at Die Werbekanzlei: Patrick Varga (overall responsibility), Turan Oeznalci (CD), Iva Bozovic (Project Management), Andrea Bissig, (AD).

NZZ: Konrad Hummler gives up presidential mandate

Konrad Hummler, the outgoing chairman of the NZZ Board of Directors, is handing over the position on an interim basis to former FDP National Council member Franz Steinegger due to the tax dispute between the United States and Switzerland.

According to Hummler, the legal disputes in the tax dispute between the USA and Switzerland would require the use of all physical and intellectual capacities. In order to gain the necessary leeway for this, he had asked the Board of Directors of the AG für die Neue Zürcher Zeitung to be able to place the office of Chairman in other hands ad interim. The Board of Directors complied with this request and mandated its doyen Franz Steinegger to assume the chairmanship until further notice. His position as a member of the Board of Directors, for which he was elected by the 2011 Annual General Meeting for a four-year term, remains unaffected.

How long the interim solution with former FDP National Councilor Franz Steinegger at the helm will last is open. No time limit has been decided, the NZZ spokeswoman told SDA. Depending on the outcome of the tax dispute with the USA, the situation will be reassessed.

The suspension of Konrad Hummler's presidential mandate at NZZ is directly related to the collapse of Bank Wegelin. Almost two weeks ago, the bank sold its entire business, with the exception of customer relations with US Americans, to Raiffeisen Bank. The US authorities have brought charges against Bank Wegelin for aiding and abetting tax evasion. Konrad Hummler is a managing partner of the bank.

Thomson Reuters closes fourth quarter with a loss

Thomson Reuters, a financial data specialist, posted a loss of $2.57 billion for the fourth quarter due to a $3 billion impairment charge.

In the same period last year, the news and data group had still earned 224 million dollars. Thomson Reuters was created in 2008 with the takeover of the British news provider Reuters by the Canadian media group Thomson. Thomson paid around 17 billion dollars for Reuters.

The business with financial market clients, largely identical to the acquired Reuters businesses, has been the problem child of the group for some time, which replaced its long-standing boss Tom Glocer with James Smith in December.

The financial crisis has taken a heavy toll on the Markets division's main customers, the banks, and thus also affected Thomson Reuters' business with data and message terminals for traders and fund managers. (SDA/RTD)

Free Internet in BLT Tango streetcars

Starting February 10, Baselland Transport (BLT) will offer its customers free Wi-Fi on its ten Tango trams.

Access to the Internet is simple, as detailed in a press release: a one-off registration via SMS to the number 939 with the word "WLAN" is all that is needed to use the Internet free of charge with WLAN-enabled devices. The Tango streetcars run on lines 10, 11 and 17, and with their 101 seats and quiet running, the vehicles are particularly well suited to offering WLAN. BLT currently has ten Tango streetcars in operation. By the middle of the year, there should be 19 vehicles.

The service is operated in collaboration with the company Livesystems, which specializes in software solutions for public transport. The operating costs of the WLAN service can be covered in full by additional advertising revenue on the new Tango streetcars. The service is therefore cost-neutral for customers, the canton and BLT.

Doodle and Search.ch establish advertising network

The online scheduling tool Doodle and the directory and service portal Search.ch are combining their display advertising on the Swiss Services Network.

The network achieved a net reach of 40.5 percent, according to a statement on Thursday; this corresponds to 3.67 million unique clients (Net-Metrix Audit January 2012). This is due to the large user numbers of the two leading web services with a low user overlap.

The launch of the joint network is a further step in the collaboration between Doodle and Search.ch, the statement continues. Since October 2011, Swiss Doodle users have benefited from extended location features such as timetables, route planners and the local weather, while for Search.ch users, Doodle's appointment planner has been integrated directly into the platform.

Advertising in the Swiss Services Network can now be placed directly with Doodle and Search.ch be booked.

Last but not least: The deal

When the dog kills the cat, buries it in the garden and is caught in the act by the man of the house, trouble is inevitable. Only a deal can help.

And indeed: the man goes along with the deal and forgets what he has seen. No wonder, because after all, it's all about Doritos.
