Kinder-Tagi: Little editors stay tuned

Starting in May, the Kinder-Tagi will be published again. The little editors from Zurich school classes will design their page not only with texts, but also with their own drawings.

According to the announcement, the new edition of the Kinder-Tagi project will appear from Saturday, May 12, 2012, initially until spring 2013, with a subsequent continuation planned. Every Saturday, except during school vacations, the Tages-Anzeiger, with a circulation of just under 200'000 copies, publishes a Kinder-Tagi page in the Zürich-Bund. In it, schoolchildren aged eight to ten from the city and canton of Zurich write about topics that interest them. Every Tuesday, smaller groups of schoolchildren visit the editorial office to illustrate their page. In total, well over 1,000 students from 76 school classes are expected to take part.

With the Kinder-Tagi, the Tages-Anzeiger wants to introduce the readers of the future to daily newspapers and especially to the Tages-Anzeiger, according to the statement. In addition, the project enables the pupils to deal with the topic of media in a practical way. During the project, the Tagi can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom. In addition, each student receives his or her own copy of the Tages-Anzeiger for the duration of the project. Melanie Kollbrunner, who already works for the Tages-Anzeiger, and Jean-Pierre Costa, previously head of regional sports at the Tages-Anzeiger, are responsible for the editorial management of the children's Tagi.

The Kinder-Tagi was first published in 2005 and, following its great success, was run a second time between spring and summer 2009. At that time, 24 school classes took part in the project and wrote about, among other things, exhibitions they had visited, Langstrasse, the TV show Musicstar, police dogs or green electricity. The articles each reflected the children's views on these very different topics.

The articles of the first Kinder-Tagi are in the Net to find.

Audience Council: "Club" put under the microscope

The Audience Council of SRG Deutschschweiz reviewed the talk show «Club» and discussed its findings with the program’s producers.

Due to the new moderation and editorial management, the audience council observed the discussion program "Club" on SF 1 and discussed the results with editor-in-chief Diego Yanez and editorial director Karin Frei. All in all, the council members draw a positive balance. They particularly welcome the fact that "Club" is once again more clearly distinguished from "Arena" than in the past and is setting its own accents. This is due not least to the clever selection of topics, which is not primarily oriented to the current events of the day. Most council members appreciate the fact that topics from the area of society are increasingly being discussed.

Young and women in the minority

According to the audience council, the guests on the program are carefully selected. They are competent and can express themselves well and in a differentiated manner. The Council is pleased that, in addition to experts, those directly affected also have their say. However, it is important that all guests can contribute something of substance to the topic. Several council members were disappointed in this respect, particularly with celebrities and politicians. Although the proportion of women among the guests has improved recently, female guests are still in the minority, the audience council notes. Young people and people with a migration background are clearly underrepresented.

Sovereign moderation

The Council is pleased that the majority of discussions in the "Club" are constructive rather than markedly controversial. The program is particularly convincing when it succeeds in revealing background information. The two presenters of the "Club" are well received by the audience council. Both are very well prepared and bring competence and curiosity, as well as a flair for conducting conversations in a confident manner. The council sees room for improvement in the way the discussion begins.

A shorter introduction and not letting guests talk too long in the first round could get the discussion going faster.

Last but not least: The men's paradise

Fishing, barbecuing, swimming, playing football, lazing around in the sun - and drinking beer à discretion: everything a man's heart desires is possible on the ultimate men's dream island.

The island is located a few kilometers off the coast of Australia and is actually called Pumpkin Island, but will be called XXXX Island for the next few years - named after a well-known Australian beer brand. From October, different groups of friends will have this paradise to themselves every weekend. However, you can't book your stay - you have to win it. Fans of the beer brand can send in their ideas on how to turn the island, which currently only has five beach huts for up to 30 people, into the perfect mates' paradise: Football course, giant barbecue, floating beer fridges - there are no limits to the imagination. The creators of the best ideas then get to go to the island.

Incidentally, women are also allowed on the island - or should we say tolerated? However, it is highly questionable whether any women will ever apply for the competition with this wonderful prospect of beer-swilling, bawling, belching and beer-belly-swinging hordes of men. And Swiss women can breathe a sigh of relief: fortunately, the gates to paradise remain closed for our men - only Australians are allowed to take part.

Flowcube Communications has been representing the jewelry brand Trollbeads since March 1. The account was awarded by Marburger, the exclusive Swiss importer of Trollbeads.

The mandate includes advising the management on all communications matters, PR products and looking after the press office in Switzerland, as the agency writes in a press release.

Switzerland Tourism Appoints Market Manager for Brazil and Southeast Asia

In order to ensure comprehensive market development in both market groups, Switzerland Tourism has appointed a market manager for Brazil and a market manager for Southeast Asia.

Market diversification plays a decisive role in times of a strong Swiss franc and an uncertain global economy, according to a press release issued on Monday. The strategy adopted by ST in this regard for some time is bearing fruit: in 2011, the growth in hotel overnight stays from the BRIC countries alone compensated for around a third of the currency-related declines from the eurozone and the United Kingdom. Expectations are also high for Southeast Asia: from 2005 to 2011, hotel overnight stays generated by guests from this region increased by 72 percent, and the potential for the future is great.

The 35-year-old Adrien Genier takes over the market management of the Brazil division. A graduate in business administration with an MBA in tourism management, he was a research assistant at the Lausanne Hotel Management School in 2004 before becoming Director of Estavayer-le-Lac / Payerne Tourisme. Genier was also a member of the board of the Office du Tourisme du Canton de Vaud (OTV). Genier will be based in São Paulo from April 1, 2012.

The 35-year-old Ivan Breiter becomes the new Market Manager Southeast Asia. The graduate business economist GSBA started in 1998 at the Switzerland Travel Centre in Zurich in the public relations department, before moving to ST a year later: first as Key Account Manager for the Swiss market, then in Toronto as Manager Leisure Sales and later as Market Manager Canada and Central USA; since 2006, Breiter has been responsible as Market Manager Belgium and Luxembourg. He will start as Market Manager Southeast Asia in Singapore on June 1, 2012.
