Rod: Sujets realized for SBB Real Estate

The Zurich-based agency Rod Kommunikation has developed a campaign for SBB Real Estate that highlights the offerings at SBB train stations.

With these motifs, SBB is taking a further step towards integrating the "At home on the move" campaign launched in April, as the agency writes in a press release. The current real estate campaign accentuates the diverse shopping opportunities and gastronomic offerings of larger and smaller SBB stations. The campaign is now in use with posters, advertisements, online advertising media and eBoards.

Advertising agency: "Smart swimmers live longer".

The broadly supported prevention campaign "Smart swimmers live longer" is experiencing a new edition with a new key visual and an interactive mobile site just in time for the 2012 swimming season.

At the same time, the campaign area was expanded to include eastern Switzerland and parts of central Switzerland in addition to the canton of Zurich. As last year, Werbeanstalt Schweiz is responsible for the conception and realization of the campaign. In addition to posters, information boards on scheduled boat piers and the bathing caps in signal colors that were already popular last year, flyers for skippers will also be used. The central communication tool is also the new, interactive Mobile sitewhich replaces the campaign website from last year. On smartphones and tablets, location-dependent information and tips on the individual bathing spots can be called up, and comments can be made. An emergency call function rounds out the service. A separate flyer in the form of a smartphone is used to draw attention to the mobile site in bathing establishments and at bathing places around the lakes located in the campaign area. The campaign will last until the end of the 2012 bathing season.

It is a joint campaign of the police corps of the city of Zurich, the cantons of Zurich, Schwyz, Glarus, Thurgau and Zug as well as the navigation control of the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen and Glarus, SLRG Switzerland, Vereinigung private Fahrgastschifffahrt Zürichsee, Zürichsee Schifffahrtsgesellschaft ZSG, Sportamt Zürich, VSSU, Schweiz. Schifffahrtsgesellschaft Untersee & Rein and Zürichsee-Fähre Horgen-Meilen.

Study: Twitter as a "gap filler"

For more than three-quarters of German users, Facebook is the most important social media platform for personal use. There is a significant gap before the next platform on the list, which was compiled by the market research institute Phaydon on behalf of ZDF Medienforschung as part of the «Community 2011» study.

Stay Friends is in second place with just seven percent. Google+ comes in fourth place with four percent. According to the study Lead Digital also qualitatively analyzed why users value Facebook so much. The most important aspect for users is the versatility of the social network. Facebook appears to be the most comprehensive in terms of members, topics and areas of life.

Only two percent of respondents named Twitter as their most important community. However, the study found that the short messaging service is seen by many as an important addition to the range of social media offerings. They see Twitter as a "gap filler" for on the go.

Platform-c and Aperto found Aperto Switzerland

The Basel-based creative agency Platform-c and the Berlin-based communications agency Aperto are joining forces to open the full-service agency Aperto Switzerland.

At its Basel location, Aperto Switzerland will offer its clients cross-media creation and implementation as well as strategy and consulting, according to a press release issued on Monday. The portfolio also includes digital projects, customer experience research, mobile solutions as well as relationship and online marketing.

Peter Hummel, Managing Director and founder of the Swiss agency Platform-c, will continue to manage the Basel agency under the name Aperto Switzerland. "Thanks to the cooperation with Aperto, we can offer our clients a broader service portfolio and also manage large-scale digital projects," says Hummel. He wants to increase staff in Basel, build up technical consulting and account management on site and further strengthen creative expertise. For large-scale projects, Aperto Switzerland can draw on the resources of the more than 250 Aperto employees in Berlin.

Platform-c was founded twelve years ago in Switzerland and offers services in the areas of interactive, creation, advertising, brand development and brand management. As Aperto Switzerland, the former Platform-c is now expanding its offering to include web and technology services, as well as online marketing, mobile web, apps and strategic communications consulting. Aperto has already been active in Switzerland for several years and counts Migros, Novartis and Post Finance among its clients. In Switzerland, Aperto already works with a network that includes Magnolia, Adobe and Logismata.

Advico Y&R: Guerrilla campaign realized for Heks

To mark Refugee Day, Advico Y&R developed a guerrilla campaign for the Swiss Protestant Churches’ Relief Organization (HEKS) designed to encourage reflection.

Asylum law is being tightened, asylum seekers are only receiving emergency aid and the country's strongest party is calling for internment camps, the agency said in a statement. But how does it feel to be met with such hostility? To mark International Refugee Day on June 20, Heks therefore carried out a guerrilla campaign to get people thinking.

At Zurich airport, instead of the usual welcoming greetings, people returning home were greeted by boards with statements such as "Welcome. But not here" or "Nice that you're about to leave". Only the last sign broke up the action: "Everyone is welcome in Switzerland. Except refugees."

Responsible at the Heks: Hanspeter Bigler (Head of Communications), Christine Spirig (Communications). Responsible at Advico Y&R: Markus Gut (CCO), Martin Stulz, Dominik Oberwiler (CD), Marietta Mügge, Marion Lim (text), Fabienne Marcolin, Sandro Tissi (AD), Nora Bertolli, Vincent Schaublin (graphics), Pascal Trütsch (consulting).

Lucerne School of Art and Design: Sponsorship prizes awarded

Two awards, each worth 5,000 Swiss francs, were presented last Friday at the opening of the exhibition of works by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design & Art.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts' Master of Arts in Design award supports outstanding graduates at the start of their careers. This year's winner is 25-year-old Jana Grabner from Graz/AT. She developed a concept for an interactive, electronic children's book: for "Journey with me through Madagascar", she not only did research in the Masoala Hall at Zurich Zoo, but also in Madagascar itself. Using her own illustrations, drawings by Malagasy children and artistic stamps from the country, she created an e-book designed to give children between the ages of 8 and 13 an insight into the everyday life of the inhabitants and provide them with unbiased access to a foreign culture.

The Max von Moos Award for a particularly outstanding artistic Master's thesis went to 31-year-old graduate Annina Nora Burkhalter from Baar ZG. Since 2008, she has been working with her art companion Allina Amayi Wittmer (Master of Arts in Fine Arts student) under the label "a&a" at the interface of art and life. The title of their final project is "a&a_79_if i had a boat". Both artists will be using their motorboat "Silver" and their converted caravan to perform various artistic actions on Lake Zug and in the harbor during the exhibition.

Last but not least: An app for freedom of expression

There is an app for almost everything - an American think tank is currently even working on an application that should enable more freedom of expression in this world.

If governments can censor or use the internet to track down critics, then the internet should be bypassed, according to the central idea. The app is therefore designed specifically with dissidents in mind as a "secure and reliable platform that ensures that their communication cannot be controlled or interrupted by authoritarian regimes", according to the project's guidelines. In order to escape state control, the software is intended to make it possible to create an alternative network using various types of digital devices.

The chances of the software spreading quickly are not bad: it can be transferred from smartphone to smartphone or between other devices. States can prevent the software from being downloaded from the internet. But if a person enters the country with a cell phone on which the app is installed, it can be distributed further. So there is virtually nothing standing in the way of absolute, worldwide freedom of expression - and authoritarian regimes will soon have to dress warmly.
