Saatchi & Saatchi has designed Seat's summer promotion as a participatory campaign. As the agency writes in a press release, over the past few weeks, the handstand has become a leisure activity that has been cultivated offline and shared online.
The campaign kicked off with various flash mobs in the city of Zurich and viral films that were distributed via social media channels. Without prior notice, people stood on Zurich's Paradeplatz or at train stations and passing streetcars were full of outstretched legs. Videos circulated on the internet showing feet ordering a cocktail in a bar, Swiss farmers trying their hand at handstanding and entire groups doing handstands. All photos and videos are posted on the hub www.handstanding.ch collected. Handstand enthusiasts show off their handstands on the beach, in front of the Eiffel Tower, on Zuckerberg in Rio, on the Great Wall of China, on Teufelsberg or on fallen trees. Balancing masters show it with one arm and less agile people reach into their bag of tricks. Blick.ch has also reported on former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi doing the handstand ("Even Christa does it").
Finally, a national poster campaign drew the attention of the handstanding community to the SEAT promotion and invited them to take a test drive. According to the press release, over 110,000 social media impressions and 80 percent more car configurations on the Seat website speak for the success of the campaign. The campaign is now entering its second phase with the official Fun Days at Seat dealerships throughout Switzerland.
