SLK: fuss about erotic advertising

The Swiss Fair Trading Commission (SLK) received numerous complaints from Ticino: An erotic poster and its ambiguous text caused an outcry.

According to a press release, the Swiss Commission for Fair Trading (SLK) rarely receives complaints from Ticino. This time, however, there were a dozen. However, they all concerned the same subject: a poster advertising an internet erotic portal had caused quite a stir in the sunny canton. The complainants considered the depiction to constitute sexist advertising because the woman depicted served as an object of subjugation and exploitation. In addition, the deliberate typographical change in the text created an ambiguity that was also to be condemned.

The Second Chamber of the SLK only partially agreed with the complainants. It did not consider the pictorial implementation to be sexist at all, as there is a recognizable connection between the lightly dressed female model and the service offered by an internet erotic portal. With regard to the second criticism, however, the SLK agreed with the complainants: Due to the fact that in the Italian headline "Scoprimi" (discover me) the letters R and I were placed with practically no space between them, one could recognize an A at a cursory glance and think it was called Scopami, which vulgarly means "fuck me". The SLK writes: "This typographical effect was obviously intended by the respondent, which is why the complaint is to be upheld in this context." The advertisers were asked to refrain from this ambiguous and vulgar representation in future.

Advertising agency: Christmas campaign for Swisslos

At the end of the year, Swisslos is offering SMEs in Switzerland discounted “Millionenlose” lottery tickets to give as gifts. The agency Werbeanstalt Schweiz implemented the corresponding communication measures.

The advertising agency's "Millionaires bake" concept is not only fitting for the pre-Christmas period, but is also intended to symbolize how easy it is to turn others - in this case customers or employees - into millionaires with Swisslos. A baking tin in the shape of a horseshoe and baking instructions by and with the well-known TV chef Meta Hiltebrand are intended to motivate the target groups to buy lottery tickets. Orders will be accepted by reply card or via the specially created landing page www.millionäre-backen.ch. The first 111 purchasers will each receive a used (lucky) horseshoe and a weekend in St. Moritz with a carriage ride will be raffled off among all purchasers.

Responsible at Swisslos: Elke Seeliger (Head of Direct Sales); Palmina Di Chiara (Direct Sales employee). Wemf: Glückspost readership is brand loyal

The readers of different print titles are as differentiated as the press landscape. While the readership of Bolero, for example, tends to be extraverted, Glückspost readers are often strongly rooted in their environment. This is shown by the latest Wemf study.

While Mr. and Mrs. Swiss choose the medium that best matches their interests and values in terms of content, it is also possible to draw conclusions from print media about their readership, according to a statement. With the help of the Mach Radar, the readerships of different press media can be differentiated at the level of psychographic factors, as the examples of the magazines Bolero and Glückspost illustrate.

Readership of Bolero is willing to take risks

Readers of Bolero magazine are characterized by a high willingness to take risks and a penchant for non-conformism. They tend to be hedonistic and have extraverted and active personalities. Their awareness of style and brands makes them a popular marketing target group. In their consumption, they are innovative, but
They are also correspondingly unpredictable. Their resistance to all too clumsy attempts to influence them is just as strong as their willingness to be introduced to offers in a playful way.

Glückspost readers remain loyal to their brands

People who read the Glückspost tend to be realistic, conformist, peaceful, and more concerned with security. They are people who are usually strongly rooted in their environment. This rootedness is also reflected in their consumption. Glückspost readers are characterized by a particularly high level of product and brand loyalty.

Last but not least: The Popinator

The company Popcorn Indiana sells - you guessed it - popcorn. Thanks to an invention with viral potential, perhaps soon in even larger quantities.

We are talking about the Popinator. Popcorn Indiana has developed a machine that shoots popcorn into your mouth. On command! When you shout "Pop!", the robot fires a popped kernel of corn precisely in the direction from which the command came. The receiver catches it in its mouth. Popcorn Indiana dreams of changing the way people eat popcorn, according to the video. The binary microphone system, which determines the direction and launch angle, is intended to perform an orientation function similar to that of human hearing.

Whether the device really exists as a prototype or is just the fantasy product of a cleverly launched viral campaign remains uncertain. One thing is certain: it's a must-have! Better today than tomorrow! And judging by the speed at which the idea is spreading on the Internet, there are likely to be other buyers if the Popinator goes into series production. (hae)
