Crome sends the Matterhorn on a world tour

The Basel-based agency Crome has created a branding campaign for the Swiss market on behalf of Berlitz. In the campaign, Switzerland’s most famous landmark explores the world.

Swiss people trained by Berlitz are well understood all over the world, the agency writes in a press release. To illustrate this adaptability, the Matterhorn has been sent on a journey and integrated in countries such as Peru, Japan and Egypt. The motifs developed by Crome especially for the Swiss market can currently be seen as an online banner, as an advertisement in HR Today and as hanging boxes in public transportation.

Swiss CRM Forum: New owner and continuity

The organizer of the Swiss Leadership Forum, Stephan Isenschmid, assumes all rights to the Swiss CRM Forum.

Stephan Isenschmid (51), business economist and long-standing IT entrepreneur, is taking over all rights to the Swiss CRM Forum from Community Building Company (CBC), based in Dübendorf, as of October 1, 2012, according to a press release. The rights will be transferred to the new company Swiss CRM Institute based in Inwil/Lucerne, which is solely owned by Stephan Isenschmid. In addition to Stephan Isenschmid, Christoph Oggenfuss (62), engineer/business economist, who has been involved in front-office performance in various management positions for 25 years and has run his own consulting firm (Markiting) since January 1, 2012, will also join the company's Board of Directors.

"We are very happy to be able to place the Swiss CRM Forum in the hands of an experienced community specialist," says Urs Buner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Community Building Company. "This transaction will ensure continuity at the Swiss CRM Forum and the 13th edition of the highly regarded specialist forum on June 20, 2013 can be driven forward with determination. Stephan Isenschmid will contribute his experience in aspects of marketing, cooperation and structural partner management in addition to the content and organization of the forum," Urs Buner continues.
"The opportunity to take over the Swiss CRM Forum is a stroke of luck for me. The two formats Swiss Leadership Forum (November 8, 2012) and Swiss CRM Forum (June 20, 2013) complement each other perfectly and there is significant synergy potential. Some partners are involved in both formats and the ZHAW School of Management and Law is an academic partner of both forums," says Stephan Isenschmid, President of the Board of Directors of the Swiss CRM Institute.

"I am delighted to actively support Stephan Isenschmid in his entrepreneurial task, in the interests of the qualitative development of both forums. Thanks to my many years on the advisory board of the Gartner CRM Summit London, I will also be able to contribute the international aspects," says Christoph Oggenfuss, future board member of the Swiss CRM Institute.

The next Swiss CRM Forum will take place on June 20, 2013 at the Hallenstadion in Zurich.

Swiss television: Everyday life instead of idyll

According to a report in the Sonntagszeitung, SRG members are criticizing what they see as an unbalanced portrayal of the country on Swiss television. Instead of focusing on calves and traditional costumes, they say the programming should focus more on everyday life.

According to the Sonntagszeitung, the critical comments come from the SRG Board of Directors for the Basel region. Rural, idyllic and Alpine Switzerland is overrepresented in the SF program. In contrast, the reality of life in the cities and agglomerations is neglected, says Alexandra Hänggi, SRG Basel regional councillor. She does not even partially recognize her own life situation in the SF programme. Hänggi told the Sonntagszeitung that her life is less about preserving plums dressed in traditional costume and more about managing the balancing act between her job, children and household.

Swiss television justifies formats with strong Swissness such as "SF bi de Lüt" or "Gipfelstürmer" with high market shares and good ratings. However, SRF media spokesman Martin Reichlin rejects the accusation of one-sidedness. The entertainment program is not dominated by the image of an idyllic Switzerland, as the SRF entertainment portfolio includes over 60 different formats.

Last but not least: Shaking and stirring prohibited

It's James Bond's birthday. To celebrate the occasion, the secret agent has partnered with Coca-Cola Zero. Since Bond is once again the talk of the town, that might make sense.

It's hard to shake the feeling that the media always find a reason to make James Bond a topic of discussion. If a new film isn't premiering, a change of actor or the announcement of the new Bond girl is sure to give cause to discuss the usual Bond topics for the umpteenth time. Sean Connery is untouchable. Despite George Lazenby, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is the most underrated Bond film. The earlier cars simply harmonized better with the agent's personality than the models that fit into the sponsors' product placement agenda today. And if there's nothing going on, a provincial newspaper somewhere in the world will surely crown Ursula Andress the Bond girl of the millennium.

James Bond is currently celebrating 50 years in the movies. On October 5, 20minuten.ch devoted so much space to this anniversary with Bond girls and Q gadgets that even the Beatles became a side note. The band released their first single "Love Me Do" on the same day that "Dr. No" premiered in 1962. Completely unimportant, exactly.

The new Bond "Skyfall" will be released on schedule soon. Two questions come to mind. Firstly, will it be better than its predecessor, Quantum of Solace, which - despite all the home-field sentiment - took some getting used to? And secondly: Can Bond continue to drink shaken martinis or will he now have to reach for Coca Cola Zero at the poker table (please don't shake the can!)? According to a press release, Coca Cola has arranged a partnership between "Skyfall" and "Coca Cola Zero". The amount of the payment seems to justify the questionable connection to the pleasure-oriented secret agent. And Coca Cola, as the press release points out, was already on board for the last film. The fact that limited edition Zero packaging in the Bond design is now appearing should at least be mentioned at this point. The following commercial, which was recently launched and takes an ironic approach to the Bond theme of Zero, is more fun. (hae)

SRF "Arena": Criticism of Zurich's dominance

In an analysis of the political talk show «Arena,» *Der Sonntag* points out that guests who are not from Zurich are at a disadvantage. The newspaper also criticizes regular guests who appear on the show with disproportionate frequency.

According to Der Sonntag, it is mainly Zurich and Aargau residents who take part in discussions in the "Arena" studio. In 2012, a fifth of all invited guests came from Zurich. Measured against the proportion in parliament (14.6 percent), this represents a clear over-representation, the newspaper said. However, this does not only apply to Zurich: the percentage of guests from Bern, St. Gallen, Basel, Graubünden, Zug and Glarus is also higher than the percentage representation in the National Council and Council of States. Western Switzerland, on the other hand, was strongly underrepresented.

Sonntag also criticizes the "presence of the same guests over and over again". For example, Balthasar Glättli, the Green Party National Councillor from Zurich, had already appeared seven times in the "Arena" in 2012, Roland Fischer (GLP LU) six times and Martin Bäumle (GLP ZH) five times. Glättli explains his frequent presence to the newspaper Der Sonntag by saying that many of his party colleagues only take part if they are invited by the editors for the ring in the middle. He, on the other hand, also sees the second row as an opportunity to express his opinion on the topics under discussion.

The head of the "Arena" editorial team, Marianne Gilgen, told Der Sonntag that the cantonal affiliation of the guests was not a decisive criterion in the selection process. It is more important that parties and genders are represented in a balanced ratio. According to Gilgen, the implementation of this requirement is already complicated enough to take cantonal affiliation into account.

Der Sonntag: View downhill "dramatic

Der Sonntag reports on a historic decline for the tabloid Blick: for the first time in 45 years, the Ringier publication is selling fewer than 200,000 copies. There is speculation about an imminent parting of ways with the German editors-in-chief of the Blick Group.

After peaking in 1987 with 375,288 certified copies, Blick circulation has almost halved 25 years later, writes Der Sonntag. In a single year, Blick lost 8.3 percent of its circulation, which experts consider "dramatic. Der Sonntag suspects, based on insider reports, that the "experiment" with the German editors-in-chief of Blick and Sonntags Blick has failed and that a successor for Sonntags Blick boss Karsten Witzmann is already being sought. This is denied by the managing director of the Blick Group to Der Sonntag: The editors-in-chief are all excellent paper makers and are consequently not up for discussion.

However, Der Sonntag suspects that Ringier CEO Marc Walder does not seem to share this view, because he is holding talks with potential candidates. Walder did not want to comment on this when asked - Der Sonntag sees parallels to the separation from Schweizer-Illustrierte editor-in-chief Nik Niethammer a few months ago with regard to this type of Ringier communication.

Ringier press spokesman Edi Estermann explains the slump in circulation to Der Sonntag with the abandonment of foreign sales in favor of digital channels. The Blick Group is pursuing a "total audience strategy". 2.8 million readers per week is an impressive figure. In addition, the reach of the Blick titles is higher than ever, which is not reflected in the circulation figures.

Der Sonntag sees the problem in the setting of topics and the specifically German tabloid language. The German Blick journalists would not infrequently write past the Swiss audience with their German point of view. As an example, Der Sonntag cites the daily lead story of Steinbrück's appointment as the Social Democratic candidate for chancellor. Der Sonntag sees this assumption supported by a statement by Roger Schawinski. In a column, the latter wrote that the "Hors-sol-Blick bosses" are basically disinterested in Switzerland. Titles like "Katie Price breit wie Buddha" would not be understood in this country, since "breit" is a slang synonym for totally drunk only in Germany.

Strength through musical wisdom

Marcus Kraft publishes a book that lists 250 of the best "advice songs" in music history. He has immortalized the titles with cloth drawings on 500 pages.

Kraft came up with the idea for the book during a trip to Asia: During a dreary, rainy week, the Zurich-based graphic designer listened to a lot of music to escape the gloom and keep his spirits up. He realized how much wisdom and advice there was in many songs. From then on, he asked the backpackers he met for songs that had a deeper meaning for them, that gave advice in specific or general situations. In the end, over 500 songs were collected.

For the book "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow - Pop Music Wisdom" has Power He selected 250 songs and immortalized them in a hodgepodge of advice and wisdom. "Of course, the selection of songs is purely subjective, but I have tried to achieve a good, varied mix," the artist told Werbewoche.ch. The tracks cover various pop music styles from the last 50 years. From rock and folk to punk and hip hop. The selection includes many well-known songs ("Don't worry, be happy"), but also contains one or two surprises ("If you want to be happy, get an ugly girl to marry you"). It contains both humorous and serious advice.

The book is now available in bookstores worldwide. Kraft is delighted that the bookstores MoMa (New York), Tate Modern (London) and Colette (Paris), among others, have included his work in their range. In addition, "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow - Pop Music Wisdom" can be purchased from Amazon, Orell Füssli and numerous other booksellers. The first edition comprises 6,000 copies and the original cloth drawings will be presented at the "Young art" trade fair in Winterthur (October 25 to 28). (hae)

Program Journal: 25 Years of Cultural Education

The Programmzeitung, the cultural magazine for the Basel area, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special issue and a party at the Ackermannshof.

On August 27, 1987, the program newspaper appeared in Basel for the first time. Since then, it has provided monthly information about cultural events in the city of Basel and the tri-national region between Freiburg, Mulhouse and Aarau. Eleven times a year, between 80 and 96 pages document and convey the diversity of cultural activity in the region, according to a press release.

In the front editorial section, cultural people, venues, events, initiatives and projects are presented, backgrounds and contexts are illuminated, cultural-political topics and contemporary issues are dealt with - with a special focus on cultural creativity that is not (yet) established. In the middle section, event organizers can announce their programs with texts and pictures at favorable conditions; the Program Newspaper takes care of the editing and design. In the back of the magazine, a clearly structured monthly agenda lists around 1,500 selected events from all sectors and provides information on exhibitions, bar and food culture. Editorial contributions and agenda entries are free of charge for the organizers and are not dependent on advertisements.

Thanks to tireless networking and many loyal supporters, the Program Newspaper has been continuously expanded and has developed from a modest self-help project into a small business with eight attractive jobs that is self-financing. The Program Newspaper receives no subsidies; funds from patrons or sponsors flow on a project-by-project basis. 64 shareholders and 3,200 paying subscribers, together with advertisers, form the backbone of the newspaper, which is used by around 10,000 people. They value the program newspaper as a strong independent cultural voice, as a platform for diverse cultural work and as a reliable companion through the jungle of data on going out.

The program newspaper is celebrating its anniversary year 2012 with extensive editorial work, among other things. For example, a 20-page anniversary special has just been published as a supplement to the October issue, which pays tribute to the achievements and employees of the past, takes a look at today's operations and focuses on the freelance writers who have contributed significantly to the quality of the newspaper, most of them for years. With a hearty "celebration of staying power" (Oct. 26, Ackermannshof, Basel), the newspaper team also wants to celebrate the overall gratifying development of the Basel cultural region over the past quarter century, the release continues.
