Personnel changes in the Swiss management team

Swiss is reorganizing its Commercial division. Swiss Marketing Head Markus Binkert will succeed the long-serving Market Switzerland Head Rudolf Schumacher.

The "Sales & Marketing Europe" and "Sales & Marketing Intercontinental" divisions will be merged under the leadership of Arved von zur Mühlen. Bernd Bauer, previously Head of Sales & Marketing Europe, will take over as Head of Revenue Management, Pricing & Distribution. All organizational and personnel changes will be made as of January 1, 2013. Markus Binkert, currently Head of "Marketing" at Swiss, will take over from long-time Head of Market Switzerland, Rudolf Schumacher, who will retire at the end of the year. Swiss wrote this in a statement on Wednesday.

The new appointment is accompanied by a reorganization. The "Sales & Marketing Switzerland" unit will be expanded to include the "Germany" and "Austria/CEE" sales units and will in future operate under the name "Sales & Marketing Switzerland, Germany and Austria". At the same time, the "Sales & Marketing Europe" (excluding Germany and Austria/CEE) and "Sales & Marketing Intercontinental" units will be merged to form the new "Sales & Marketing International" unit. Arved von zur Mühlen, currently Head of "Sales & Marketing Intercontinental", will take over this area. Bernd Bauer, currently Head of Sales & Marketing Europe, will succeed Oliver Barthelmeh as Head of Revenue Management, Pricing & Distribution. Barthelmeh will leave Swiss at his own request on November 30, 2012, to continue his career within the Lufthansa Group as Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of LSG Sky Chefs Munich. The organizational adjustments will streamline structures in the commercial area and further increase efficiency, according to the Swiss release.

The successor arrangement for the "Marketing" division headed by Markus Binkert until December 31, 2012 will be announced at the appropriate time.

Young people surf the Internet more and more with cell phones

Teens are riding the smartphone wave at the forefront: According to a study, more and more teenagers are going online with their all-in-one smartphones. They are also increasingly taking advantage of the ever-expanding entertainment options offered by their mobile devices.

The share of smartphones among young people has doubled to around 80 percent within two years, according to a study by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) published on Wednesday. The study, commissioned by Swisscom, examined for the second time after 2010 how young people between the ages of 12 and 19 communicate and which media they use. For the study, called "James," more than 1,000 young people were surveyed in all three language regions of Switzerland.

Two-thirds of teenagers said they surf the Internet on their smartphones every day or several times a week. In 2010, the figure was just 16 percent.

Entertainment equipment

In addition, the increasingly powerful cell phones are becoming versatile entertainment devices. In addition to telephony, text messaging or surfing, young people are increasingly playing mobile games, watching videos or listening to music. For example, 46 percent of respondents play mobile games, up from just 19 percent two years ago. The proportion of on-the-go e-mail readers rose from 10 to 38 percent.

However, the classic functions of text messaging (91 percent) and telephoning (79 percent) are still used by far the most. This year's study also revealed that young people often use several media at the same time. For example, they listen to music while sending messages, watching a YouTube video or browsing Facebook.

Just under half of those surveyed say they regularly surf the Internet while watching TV. 59 percent say they make phone calls or write text messages while watching TV. (sda)

Net-Metrix: Ever greater and broader penetration of streaming use

About 3.5 million Swiss people consume video or audio content online, and 560,000 do so daily or almost daily. The latest edition of the Net-Metrix Streaming Report 2012-2 thus highlights the growing popularity of streaming services in Switzerland.

The group of streaming users has grown by 11% in the last twelve months and, at 65.8%, already accounts for two thirds of Swiss online users. The trend comparison by Net-Metrix makes it clear that not only are more and more people using corresponding services such as web radio or web TV at least occasionally or consuming audio and video content on video, news and TV portals, but that they are also penetrating ever wider circles in terms of socio-demographic structures. For example, the proportion of women among streaming users was 38.5% a year ago and now stands at 43.4%. The difference was even greater among streaming heavy users, i.e. those who use streaming services daily or almost daily: the proportion of women in this user group has risen from 28.4% in 2011 to 41% today.

netmetrix1

The younger age groups continue to dominate among streaming users: Around 58% are younger than 40, while this figure is just under 73% for streaming heavy users. However, if you look at the development over the last twelve months, shifts become apparent here too: the proportion of streaming users in the 40+ age group has grown from 36.1% to 42.3% since 2011, which corresponds to an increase of 17%. This change can be seen even more clearly among frequent users of audio and video content via the web, where the share of the 40+ age group has grown from 21.2% to 27.1% in one year. This corresponds to an increase of 28%.

These figures suggest that not only are more and more people consuming video and audio content online, but that the structure of streaming users is changing towards the profiles of internet users in general. This trend is likely to continue due to the high level of internet penetration in Switzerland1 as well as the increasing use of internet services via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets2 , which simplify the use of radio, TV and video services via the web.

Web radio and web TV continue to grow

The survey also covers the various categories of services used. It is clear that more than one in three Swiss online users (35.2%) are regular web radio listeners. At over 7%, this service category has seen the highest growth since 2011. However, the use of web TV (e.g. Wilmaa, Zattoo or Teleboy) also appears to be gaining in popularity: Almost three in ten internet users (29%) consume web TV offerings several times a month or more frequently. This means that this proportion has increased by almost 6% in one year. As in previous surveys, the use of video portals is still the most popular: This category includes the most regular users and their share has grown from 52% in 2011 to currently 55%.

Fresh brand design from Schoch&Sonders

Schoch&Sonders developed the brand strategy and brand design for Innveri’s new food storage products. The core values of the new brand are intended to combine freshness with design.

A lot of white space was used in combination with an international typography concept with English statements. This results in an appearance that sets the scene at the POS, online or in a directly tangible space. The very reduced and striking design and the fresh photography are intended to underline the brand design of "The Art of Freshness".

The agency implemented the design on various packaging for appliances, fresh food boxes and accessories. Furthermore, the website, brochure, social media, trade fair and promotional appearances were also realized. The components of the concept are already on sale and can be purchased, for example, at Globus or on Innveri.com be purchased.

Scatter plan tinkering for Walter Meier

As an «Official Partner» of the 2013 Swiss Federal Schwing and Alpine Festival in Burgdorf, Walter Meier (Klima Schweiz) commissioned the BTL agency Streuplan to develop an image campaign. The agency has now developed a campaign and a Swiss wrestling arena craft sheet.

The print subjects, which can currently be seen in climate and wrestling magazines, show the Walter Meier brand ambassadors Adrian (wrestling king in 1989) and Remo Käser. The focus of the extended commitment to the sport of wrestling lies in particular on the young wrestler Remo. Thanks to the sustained support of Walter Meier (Climate Switzerland), the 15-year-old should be able to prepare optimally for his big goal: participation in the ESAF 2013.

The sponsorship is rounded off by a giveaway. This was designed and developed by Streuplan in the form of a handicraft sheet with which the original swing arena of the ESAF 2013 can be recreated. The building instructions can be found in a Video on Youtube.

Continuation of the "NetLa - My data belong to me!" campaign resolved

The Council for the Protection of Privacy will continue the national campaign on privacy and data protection on the Internet for children and adolescents, which was launched in 2011 under the slogan «NetLa – My Data Belongs to Me!».

The campaign is under the patronage of the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner Hanspeter Thür. Since October 22, 2012, the campaign has continued with the campaign comic faces - and with the new "NetLa Quiz. This is intended to encourage playful discussion of one's own behavior on the Internet. Not only young people will find useful tips on how to deal with the topic, but parents and teachers can also download information, teaching materials and worksheets.

The positive response to the First Privacy Championship event at the Museum of Communication in Bern on December 10, 2011, moved those responsible at the Privacy Council to continue and further develop the campaign. "We want to continue to make children and young people aware of the need to handle their own data on the Internet consciously and carefully," explains Matthias Kummer, delegate of the Council for the Protection of Privacy. "Because these are often the easiest and most helpless victims of the most diverse machinations on the Internet. Education is needed." In its first year, the platform of the national privacy campaign recorded well over two and a half million page views in just eight months.

Maxomedia lets the city of Zurich shine for Swissquote

Maxomedia has recreated the city on the Limmat using thousands of small orange dots. The new communications campaign for Swissquote draws attention to the booth where the online bank is exhibiting at the «Structured Products Fair 2012.».

From October 24 to 25, 2012, Swissquote will be providing information about the new way to trade derivatives: Indices, commodities, currencies - over 30,000 leverage products can be traded with the bank's new "Swiss DOTS" trading service. The service was launched back in May 2012 - with the "Swiss DOTS" logo from Maxomedia. Now "Swiss DOTS" is to be made better known to potential customers through the trade fair and a campaign.

The solution: lots of glowing "DOTS" that show passers-by in the city of Zurich the way to the trade fair on posters and on eBoards at Zurich railroad station - and make the city shine. The Swissquote streetcar, VBZ's first fully painted advertising streetcar, was also fitted with new luminous dots in the interior. In addition, flyers, streetcar hangers and posters draw the attention of public transport users to the Swissquote offer. The campaign also includes banners, advertisements and an insert in the Swiss edition of the "Financial Times" - the aim is to target existing and potential customers of the bank.

Maxomedia is responsible for the conception, creation and realization of the campaign.

Scholz & Friends: "Es git immer en Grund" (There's always a reason)

The Zurich-based agency Scholz & Friends is launching a campaign for the Swiss fondue brand Gerber. The campaign highlights reasons to enjoy fondue—and there are always plenty of them.

The new Gerber campaign shows that there can't be enough occasions to spend pleasant and convivial fondue evenings. Under the campaign motto "Es git immer en Grund" (There's always a reason), even trivialities are elevated to a longed-for fondue occasion in a tongue-in-cheek manner: In the 20-second TV spot, all it takes is a "new" hairstyle, while in the poster motifs, a 2 in the lottery, a power outage or a minimalist house of cards become the hook for the next fondue party.

The cross-media orchestrated campaign, which goes above the line immediately in TV, poster and print on air, is flanked by POS measures, E-Newsletter and a Facebook promotion with which it gives ten overnight accomodation in the igloo village to win.
