Last but not least: Do you prefer your media landscape with "pseudo-objectivity" or rather with "quota anti-Blocher"?

Just how left-leaning are the Swiss media? Roger Köppel and Cédric Wermuth discussed this question last week at the Kion Gallery near the Viadukt in Zurich.

The discussion not only provided plenty of fuel, but also an insight into the mindset of the two panelists and their assessment of the Swiss media landscape. In the first few minutes, fundamental questions arose: "How should newspapers weight political opinions - according to voter percentage, or should they simply take a clear position? Does the media landscape primarily represent the interests of one political group? And does the political positioning of the media depend on which topics are in the foreground and how critical journalists are of the state and its claims to power?"

Roger Köppel emphasized that it is currently easy to highlight the merits of Micheline Calmy-Rey, for example, "but if you write that Blocher has done something well, then you will feel the withdrawal of love". Köppel outed himself as a great admirer of all people who have the courage to stand up in a group of like-minded people and express their own opinion - he is not a token anti-Blocher.

Cédric Wermuth also sees a problem in the lack of position, the so-called "pseudo-objectivity". After mentioning certain newspapers that have been bought up by "SVP protagonists" in recent years, Wermuth emphasizes that there is a lack of media with a clear point of view in the Swiss media landscape. How should one assess the so-called non-political media, such as free newspapers, he asks. The newspapers that are most difficult to assess are those where you don't know exactly where they stand. He cites the Tages-Anzeiger as an example. As some newspapers do not position themselves clearly, they are also difficult to grasp.

However, an objective summary of the further discussion would run counter to these points of view. See therefore here the whole discussion, uncensored and without pseudo-objective assessments. (uma)

BBG shoots passerby spot for Ibis

The BBG Werbung agency shot a commercial with passers-by for Ibis Hotels Switzerland. This was launched on the occasion of the repositioning of the Ibis Hotels brand and in the course of its conversion in Europe into a "feel-good hotel".

The parent company Accor Hotels commissioned BBG Werbung with the street marketing activity. The idea was to have a film troupe tour three Swiss cities, where passers-by were to pose with a cushion. The cushion is the subject of the logo.

In Zurich, Bern and Geneva, passers-by were motivated to portray the "Ibis world in an authentic and likeable way by means of sampling and a casting call. The aim was to convey the "feel-good comfort" in a playful and witty way, the agency said in a press release on Friday. On the Ibis-be-a-star.ch landing page, passers-by were also able to upload a photo from the shoot. By uploading a photo, you can take part in a competition to win trips to Paris, London, Berlin and Barcelona. An Ibis jury will decide on the winning photos. You can still take part until October 30.

The commercial that has now been produced will be shown on various TV stations in Switzerland for two weeks from October 25.

Goldbach Interactive Buzz Report 2012: The digital "Wiesn" visitor is a man

For the 2012 Oktoberfest Buzz Report, Goldbach Interactive conducted a targeted analysis of social media channels throughout the duration of the Munich Oktoberfest and evaluated the results.

Anyone who previously had the impression that the majority of visitors to the Munich Oktoberfest consisted of former German Bundesliga footballers and their illustrious female companions may be consuming too many colorful sheets of paper, but they are not totally wrong. The digital Oktoberfest visitor fits the Kahn and Effenberg mold, at least in terms of age, gender and nationality. He is male, 42 years old, German, has a clear preference for roast oxen and his access to the social community is via Twitter.

Social media monitoring shows which brands are causing a stir

It is possible to quantify exactly which beer was the most talked about on social media. Hofbräu beer came out on top with 35%, just ahead of Paulaner with 33%. Löwenbräu provided less basis for discussion with 16 percent, Augustiner and Hacker-Pschorr with 7 percent each and Spatenbräu at the bottom with 2 percent. In terms of tents, the Hippodrom is the undisputed leader with 58 percent, followed by Käfer's Wies'n-Schänke with 15 percent, Schottenhamel with 7 percent and the Augustiner tent with 6 percent. The remaining 10 percent are distributed among the other tents.

A celebrity is someone who is talked about online

"O'zapft is!" This year was the penultimate time for Christian Ude, Munich's incumbent mayor, who traditionally taps the first keg of beer at Oktoberfest. This brought him the attention of a whopping 81% of social media members who discussed celebrities at the "Wiesn". Neither active or former sports stars such as Mario Gomez, Boris Becker, Franziska von Almsick, Henry Maske and Stephan Effenberg, nor the great Roberto Blanco could compete with this. They all provided a topic of discussion, albeit only in the single-digit percentage range.

Swiss Star 2012 awards 14 packaging

This marks the 43rd time that the SVI has held the Swiss Star packaging competition. The field of participants represented the full range of packaging materials: corrugated cardboard, fine cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass.

A new record was set with 61 packaging entries. After a two-day voting process in September, the jury nominated 24 packages and selected 13 winners. The Audience Award was also presented. Winning a Swiss Star enables participation in the World Stars.

Drinkdrab drinking bottle wins audience award

A total of 16 types of packaging were voted for by the public. The 2012 Audience Award went to the Drinkdrab drinking bottle from Traritrara GmbH - a size-adjustable packaging for drinking water. Similar to a hand organ, the bottle can be enlarged or reduced in size as required. Drinkdrab is made of 100 percent polypropylene.

The Swiss Packaging Institute SVI awards the Swiss Star for outstanding achievements in the packaging industry. The aim of the competition is to highlight the creativity and innovative strength of the Swiss packaging industry. The award is therefore the flagship of the industry.
