Peter Bütikofer & Company: "I am ready"

To mark the Men’s Floorball World Championship in Switzerland, the Zurich-based communications agency Peter Bütikofer & Company produced video profiles of the national floorball team. The videos, featuring the slogan «We’re ready!», were commissioned by Mobiliar.

The aim of the short 20-30 second video portraits is to draw attention to the upcoming home World Cup and to introduce the players and coaches of the Swiss floorball national team. "Short, authentic videos are particularly suitable for this, as a lot of para- and non-verbal information can be conveyed. The viewer comes much closer to the player than when collecting Panini pictures or reading player interviews," Marco Tomasina, communications consultant at Peter Bütikofer & Company, is convinced.

The video portraits with the slogan "Mir sind parat!" are not only intended to bring the players closer to the public, but also to show various aspects of the national team's preparations for the upcoming home World Cup: From running tests and table tennis to chopping wood with a floorball stick. "The campaign conveys the versatility of the sport, the fun of the game and the common goal of conquering a podium place at the home World Championships in Zurich and Bern," says Matthias Hofbauer, captain of the Swiss floorball national team and Project Manager Sponsoring and Events at Mobiliar.

Peter Bütikofer & Company carried out all tasks in-house, from the idea to the conception and design to the implementation. The production of the 27 video portraits was completed in 3 days. A standardized storyboard with recurring visual elements gives the portraits a common thread and should ensure that the campaign could be realized efficiently. From today, Thursday, every Monday and Thursday 2-3 players of the Swiss national team will be presented in video portraits via various social media channels and websites.

About the campaign

Havas: All roads lead to Winterthur

Havas promoted Winterthur’s attractions with a new campaign in five Swiss cities: Armed with a map of Winterthur, a young woman asks for directions to a specific location in Winterthur.

She does this in five different roles - filmed with a hidden camera - in Zurich, Bern, Basel, St. Gallen and Lucerne and not in Winterthur. Passers-by try to help the stressed protagonist so that she reaches the desired destination in time. But at some point the helpers realize that the young lady is in the wrong city.

In this way, the city of Winterthur wants to prove its uniqueness with a wide range of cultural, educational and economic activities as well as with a high quality of life. The film with the highlights is now available on the website Winterthur.ch and on Facebook.com/winterthur to see. The campaign was conceived by Havas Worldwide Zurich.

Media for immigrants join forces

On Thursday in Bern, media outlets that primarily target immigrants joined together to form an association. The Ethnomedia Switzerland association aims to promote cooperation both among its members and with Swiss media outlets.

The initiative to found the association came from media professionals and the Forum for the Integration of Migrants (FIMM). Around twenty future association members registered for the founding meeting. Others have already expressed interest, said Anja Suter from FIMM when asked by the SDA news agency.

In Switzerland, dozens of journalists work for newspapers, radio stations and other media aimed at immigrants, according to a communiqué. The new association is intended to represent the interests of these media. The association does not yet have any concrete projects. "For now, it's about making contacts," explained Suter. (SDA)

On Monday, thousands of recruits reported for winter basic training. Just in time for this, SFLB is promoting its free subscription for recruits in the *Woz*.

With a wink, it aims to appeal to soldiers to do something for their heads during this time. Because soldiers usually arrive by train, the campaign can be seen on posters in train stations in towns with a recruit school. There are also advertisements and e-boards.

Publicis celebrates 15 years of innovation with Cumulus

To mark the 15th anniversary of the Migros customer loyalty program, Publicis has revamped the distribution of the Cumulus magazine. Changes have also been made to the magazine itself.

The central innovation is the way in which Cumulus vouchers can be used: Under the "Cumulus-Extra" label, it is now possible to redeem vouchers at partner companies within and outside the Migros "family". The value of the vouchers is multiplied - for example, a 20-franc voucher can be worth 150 francs when redeemed at Edelweiss Air.

Changes have also been made to the Cumulus magazine: It now appears in A5 format. In terms of content, the focus is on the numerous Cumulus experience offers and program communication. Consequently, Migros now refers to it as the Cumulus experience magazine, the agency said in a press release on Thursday. The previous coupon booklet, in which all advantage coupons were summarized, has been replaced by loose coupon sheets. This is intended to increase flexibility and reduce costs.

The long-standing Cumulus agency Publicis was once again entrusted with the communicative implementation of the innovations.

News News: Journalists want more PR images

In a survey conducted by News Aktuell, a subsidiary of SDA, the editorial staff of daily news outlets expressed a desire for more images from PR representatives. For the survey, 410 media professionals from newspapers, radio, and television in Switzerland answered questions about their work with press releases and PR photos.

Of the journalists surveyed, 72 percent would also like to receive images with a media release. More than one in two journalists (55 percent) would also like to receive the corresponding graphics. The respondents also named PDFs, videos and audio files as desirable material to accompany a media release. This is according to News Aktuell in a press release on Presseportal.ch.

The survey also provides an answer to the much-discussed question of which is the best distribution channel for media releases: the agency ticker. In contrast to e-mail, the messages can be processed more quickly in the editorial system and are integrated directly into the editorial workflow. The messages are spam-free and contain no unsafe attachments. In addition, the personal mailboxes of the editors are relieved.

The survey results are based on an Internet survey conducted by News Aktuell in July 2012 in the editorial offices of daily news media in Switzerland. The SDA subsidiary regularly surveys media professionals on their requirements for handling PR material.

Lokalinfo takes over the Wochenspiegel

The Wochenspiegel is getting a new owner and a new format. The paper's former publisher, Andreas Mohler, is transferring ownership to the Lokalinfo publishing house.

The publishing house Lokalinfo buys Wochenspiegel Verlag with "Wospi" - the weekly newspaper for the Zurich Unterland region published in Bülach. With this purchase, the publishing house intends to expand its commitment to local journalism. The editorial coverage of the weekly newspaper, which appears every Wednesday, will be strengthened under the new management, the publishing house wrote in a statement on Thursday.

The Chairman of the Board of Lokalinfo is the car importer and former SVP National Councilor Walter Frey. The weekly newspaper Wochenspiegel, which is distributed free of charge, will be transferred to Lokalinfo with a normal circulation of 33,591 copies (from 2013 with a monthly large circulation of 55,700 copies). The Bülach site will be retained and the employees will be taken on, the statement continues. ln the editorial area, jobs will be created. After the sale, long-time publisher Andreas Mohler will retire from the company.

The Wochenspiegel is now to be renewed in terms of concept and design, and will have a broader journalistic base. In the future, the newspaper will focus more on regional and local reporting, according to the Lokalinfo press release. To this end, the editorial team will be strengthened and the network of freelancers expanded. The format will change from tabloid to broadsheet. A relaunch of the Wochenspiegel's online presence is also planned. Meanwhile, the weekly publication rhythm of the printed edition will remain in place. The first issue of the redesigned "Wochenspiegel" is expected to appear in January 2013.

Meier + Cie Schaffhausen takes a minority stake in Lokalinfo and will sit on the board of directors.

Ringier: Laid-off print shop employees hand over demand

On Thursday, laid-off employees of the Swissprinters printing plant in Renens, Vaud, delivered an open letter outlining their demands to Ringier’s headquarters in Zurich. The affected workers received support from the Syndicom union.

A year ago, the printing plant employees of Swissprinters St. Gallen demonstrated in front of Ringier headquarters in Zurich against the closure of their plant and the dismissal of the entire workforce. Today, Thursday, Swissprinters print shop employees are again demonstrating at Dufourstrasse 23 in Zurich. This is because when the business was transferred to the newly founded printing company IRL+, the printing company took over 71 of the 126 employees, and a social plan was agreed for the others. The union describes this as insufficient.

The union is therefore demanding severance pay of ten percent of a monthly salary per year of employment for all those not taken over by IRL+. All others who do not have a new job should receive compensation payments on their old salary for six months. On several occasions, those affected have personally written to Michael Ringier asking him to respect the people who have helped him rake in millions with their hands-on work in recent years, Syndicom said in a statement. The entrepreneur, it said, had remained firm and had tried to pull out of responsibility. Because Ringier does not come to them, the dismissed employees of Swissprinters Lausanne in Renens now come to him to seek a discussion with him and to hand him their letter publicly.

Werfeli had accepted the letter, Roland Kreuzer, head of the media sector at Syndicom, told the SDA news agency. Werfeli had shown understanding and "vaguely promised" that the board of directors "could discuss the matter again". Kreuzer also told SDA that a letter had also been sent to the cantonal conciliation office in Vaud on Thursday. It is supposed to bring Ringier, the affected employees and the union to the table. The company now has to wait and see.
